Iam a happy owner of a 1005ha hackintosh running Mac OS X 10.6.6. The little machine is so impressive. I can use bluetooth to my trackpad, run a external monitor all the fun of a Mac Book. But after a while of running it starts to raise core temp to the point that it will sporadically shut off. My fan is functional i can feal it moving hot ass air out the exhaust port. if any one is experiencing the same issue please take the time and help me figure it out so we can move past this issue.

Hey, I'm running 10.6.6 with no problems. Did you try to replace your kernel to the one that is 10.6.6 compatible?

see here for the kernel: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...197020&st=0

You mentioned you have external monitor working. I have a problem with that. If I plug in an external monitor, both the external and the netbook's monitor don't show anything. They don't go black, but have weird lines and I can't use them.

Maybe you can point to where I can find the answer to my issue.

Thanks

her is a qquick fix for your problem if it is mirrored. u must use a mac keyboard though. command + F1 will solve the issue u must have the monitor hooked up to do this repair. thanks for the suggestion on the mach_kernel idea. But i did that before the first restart. it has been a few days but i ran a extension update in /extra. it hasn't shut off since. i dont know if this was a fix or not. i wish some one would invent a good diagnostic tool or program to trouble shooting these kind of issues

Hi!

I have the same problem, did it everything by the book not noticed before but after 10.6.6 I have overheating /fan problem.

On cold boot grey apple scren no mater how hot machine is, it kills fan, than after booting I do not hear fan even when playing flash video but it does not seem so hot, another time it is hot like hell and I have two shutowns because of temperature and fan not working at all this time.Plastic start to smell how hot machine was. But after sleep fan starts on max and after some time cools down and silenced and than working like it should In this scenario it is strange that after so much cooling and noise machine is so hot. I can get the grasp of this problem.

Any solutions? Kernel and sleep enabler no go so far.

Other than that everything is went smoothly everything working I was so happy my first hackmack and now I am scared to fry my 1005HA

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I never received a reply from you. This is what worked for me .Go to the top left of your screen click on the apple, select shutdown. let the computer power down like normal. Unplug the device and remove the battery. power up with A/C adaptor without the battery. this is very simple. But it worked for me. I Hope this works for you.I know it sonds to simple but let me know if this works for you thanks.

Dang, but you're right. Prior to doing your battery-out trick, I had to put the PC to sleep and wake it again on each boot before the fans worked properly. Did what you suggested, and voila, next boot, the fans did their revving thing without sleep being invoked.

Fantastic tip, ronzo77.

I'll get the info out there with your credit. Nice. :)

Cheers,

Andy.

Hardware EEEpc 1005HA (or any other EEEpc whith the same reported problems)

OSX 10.6.7

Using nawcom Legacy kernel darwin 10.7: http://blog.nawcom.com/?p=640

Ok guys for all of you that have a problem with:

1.Fans not working

-This usually comes after the 10.6.7 update. After a lot of research this is due to a install of a newer kext: "AppleACPIplatform"

-Just go back to the version: 1.3 from 1.3.5

AppleACPIPlatform 1.3: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2374229/AppleACPIPlatform.kext.zip

2.Brightness after wake from sleep:

-This happens due to the appleintegratedframebuffer 1.6.10

-Rollback to 1.6.6

AppleIntegratedFramebuffer: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2374229/AppleIntel...buffer.kext.zip

3. HotKeys:

-Just install AsusHotKeys Driver or edit your DSDT:

AsusHotkeys: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2374229/AsusHotkeys.kext.zip

Inform me if anything doesn't work or need any help….

It did not work for me but thanks anyway, interesting is that when battery is out fans work ok so this must have something with battery and fix for 1 gb ram so the battery indicator can work, probably if I have 2 gigs I would have working indicator and original dstd and probably no overheating problem? I will try with acpi kext from bellow.

thanks your acpi kext works my fan now works before at chameleon fan would stop spining and I have to put netbook to sleep than wake and from that point fan would work as supposed. I have about 3 times meltdowns and plastic still stinks to bad I did not find this solution before.

Thank you very much, btw seem s to me that fan works louder than before but it works ;)

thank you thank you eh hotkeys still no go ;)

I Anyone tried to update to 10.6.8 yet?

I’ve updated my 1005hab but I have two problems.

The graphic card is barely working and the fan not starting problem is back…

I have all my kext in my EFI partition so there's nothing to rollback. I've updated, replaced the kernel with the nawcom 10.6.8 kernel. The only kext I replaced was the sleep enabler kext.

If anyone has some ideeas...

I have almost all things working on my girlfriend’s 1005HAB with 10.6.8.

Things that don’t work:

1. Ethernet – I get disconnect/connect feedback but don’t get DHCP address assigned, with manual or default address can ping only localhost.

2. Wake from Sleep at lid open

3. Mac AppStore login (no UUID)

4. USB Storage devices don’t get gracefully disconnected at sleep

Things that are buggy:

The volume buttons are not working after sleep anymore, I will look into this, I’m using spark in the meantime. If anyone has some ideas please share.

Things you might need (I hope this helps someone):

Here are the working graphics kexts for 10.6.8 set to override the ones in S/L/E

http://cl.ly/8Fda

Here is the tea atom kernel I’m using (much more stable than nawcom legacy kernel):

http://cl.ly/8FxL

Here is my complete toolkit (EFI partition, fixes, tools, etc).

http://cl.ly/8Eel

My DSDT is edited so that batterymeter works on 2GB Systems!!

I’ve searched 3 days for the fix regarding graphics issue when updating to 10.6.8 so I hope this helps someone.

If you have any thoughts on fixing the bugs and issues above please share.
