splintah
EDIT: UPDATE - it works now and i wanted to share the info with you install: use any of the following isos to install a retail dvd (buy one at the apple store - most torrent downloads dont work properly (mine kept freezing) - make sure you are using the guid partition table on install - finish install - reboot with your 132 iso - then install the munky bootmethod (more info below) this method leaves the retail installation untouched and installs a bootloader on the hidden efi partition (therefore you HAVE to use guid or you wont have that partition) - follow this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1088941 -----------------------------------------------initial post - use any of the isos to boot into retail dvd ---------- hey folks i am really having a hard time getting a newer install on my p5w tried ipc ideneb and iatkos ideneb and iatkos didnt install at all ipc went pretty well but there were some firewire lan issues that prevented autodesk maya from installing i am now trying the boot123 method downloaded 10.5.6hotiso from mac torrents burnt it on a dual layer disc downloaded various boot123 isos for the p5w 1) macita http://www.mediafire.com/?gmwgcwrvjgg http://rapidshare.com/files/129023748/BURNME.iso.html http://www.mediafire.com/?6j9wcsxszlz from this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...pid=811773& here is yet another one (supposedly a macita) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jzznndt2vki from this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...8&st=0& 2) 70mb iso http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kdwjjyibilo from this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114834 but they all freeze before finishing the install (the dark grey please restart window) i changed the bios settings according to the thread (i have the 2801bios) anyone got a clue or hunch ? wiki p5w thread: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...tle=Asus_p5w_dh
lord_webi
did you check checksum of Leo retail disk ? I think this can't be a retail disk cause its already patched to 10.5.6 ... ? If you have another osx86 install on any hd left, start from there and format a partition or harddrive where you want to install retail, than use Pacifist (Open Apple Install Disks) for installing the retail onto the empty hd/partition ... while installing, Pacifist will tell you, if there are any problems ... after that goes well, just try to boot with boot-132 cd or make a loader partition with Macloader tool from one of the retail threads ... splintah
ok i finally got it working now with a proper apple retail dvd but one thing i am not 100% certain of is: what exactly do i do now ? do i leave this installation like it is and install kexts and hardware drivers on a seperate boot partition ? do i modify this partition with the chameleon bootloader and change the kexts on this one ? or do i keep booting with the dvd ? whats the best method ? ideally with a guide
splintah
trying this one now http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127330 with this kexts http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1041928 fingers crossed
splintah
success i have everything working with that munky efi partition method aliabs kexts for the mobo and natit for my gf7300 just to explain the new munky method it installs a bootloader with all the kexts and modifications on a hidden efi partition (which is always there if you use guid so no need to create an extra partition) this means on your install partition you have an untouched retail install - all the modifications are beeing done on the hidden efi partition bootloader the best way to install osx at the moment and works very well for this mobo GUIDE WITH FILES INSTALL: - use any of the 132isos linked in the first post of this thread to install a retail dvd (buy one at the apple store - most torrent downloads dont work properly (mine kept freezing) - make sure you are using the guid partition table on install (create new partition table and go to options in the disk utility) - finish install - reboot with your 132 iso - then go to the munky post to install his EFI partition bootloader UPDATE - READ NEXT POST FOR SUPER EASY EFI PARTITON INSTALL this method leaves the retail installation untouched and installs a bootloader on the hidden efi partition (therefore you HAVE to use guid or you wont have that partition) follow the instructions in munkys post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127330 - and use the board specific files i linked here: board specific info: it took me quite a while to figure out that the .mkext is not the best way to go and to unpack it first with the mkexttool and then copy it over to the extensions folder mkext tool: http://######.com/index.php?option=...1&Itemid=48 i used the mkext from aliab http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1041928 and natit.kext for my gf http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32427 i also changed the boot.plist (added the gpu and network) but i dont know if that makes a difference (careful not to change the boot.plist on the osx install) - you can also easily extract a kext selection from the boot 132 downloads (all the kexts are in their extra folder) this really is a great method big up to munky
splintah
update !! efistudio1.1 now supports this method (it was uploaded yesterday) this means - super easy install - download and burn boot132 for this mobo - install a retail osx dvd with this boot132 - - restart with 132 cd - download the efistuido1.1 with efi boot partition support http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1097398 - extract the kexts from the boot 132 - or download any other kexts for this mobo - and place it in the efistudio extensionsfolder - click install efi boot partition - - restart without 132 cd be happy unfortunately there is still no windows boot support on the same drive you need to have a seperate windows drive i guess we have to wait for the new camaeleon which will support this method aswell i created a asus p5w deluxe - 100%retail thread since a lot of the old methods are now obsolete and mess with your install http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=156057
bigb1979
Hey Guys! You gotta help me out.... Its really frustrating.. My 100% retail install via the new efi installer wont work... Heres what i did: I installed everything following splintah guide step by step. I extract the Extensions.mkext from my boot123 cd and copied it over to the extra folder of my efi partition. installed the bootloader.... After the first startup without the 123bootcd the screen turns grey. When booting with -v the mac hangs at Computer Name: Asus P5W DH Deluxe ( Asus P5W DH Deluxe ) After that i used the 123bootcd and the mac boots up... Then i installed the chameleon bootloader and just placed the Extensions.mkext from aliab in the extra folder.. After that the mac boots up very fast and everything works (audio, usb, firewire etc. ) But i think its the wrong way to install efi bootloader first and then the chameleon boot loader ??? right?? Please help me! Thanks so much
Flashlab
Hmmm... This method isd giving me some troubles. Updating to 10.5.7 gives a kernel panic. I used a DSDT patch and the boot132 files. Something is conflicting...
Flashlab
Hmmm... This method isd giving me some troubles. Updating to 10.5.7 gives a kernel panic. I used a DSDT patch and the boot132 files. Something is conflicting... I'm back to iPC 10.5.6; fits my system better. I managed to get 10.5.7 running with the retail install but my WiFi wouldn't work after the Realtek driver installation and same for FireWire. All works with iPC updated to 10.5.7...
