Hi all translators,You can help us to translate the Chameleon Project. You need to have gettext utilities installed. You can install them :* With MacPorts or Finkor* With the package http://dl.dropbox.com/u/112112/Chameleon.Dev/gettext-0.18.1.1.dmgYou need to change your ~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile to add the path to the utilities:# MacPorts Installer: adding an appropriate PATH variable for use with MacPorts.export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH# Finished adapting your PATH environment variable for use with MacPorts.# MacPorts Installer: adding an appropriate MANPATH variable for use with MacPorts.export MANPATH=/opt/local/share/man:$MANPATH# Finished adapting your MANPATH environment variable for use with MacPorts. You must also have a PO editor like Poedit: http://www.poedit.net/download.phpThe files to translate are in package/po directory. Open them with your PO editor and translate <img src='http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />.If you want to add a new language copy the package/po/chameleon.pot to po/$lang.po where $lang isthe new language you want to add. Example to add belgian language:# cp package/po/chameleon.pot package/po/be.poNow you can start translating the new po file with your PO editor

Pls translate/complete it.

Hello everyone,

I hope it's ok to I ask this here:  is there anything that can be done to get Chameleon to boot Yosemite with the new Black Background + White Apple Logo screen? I am using Chameleon-2.3svn-r2510 and it boots Yosemite much faster than Clover!  I have already seen a post where it is possible to change the boot screen background from Grey to Black.  The problem with this fix is that the progress bar/spinner are no longer visible.

One thing I don't understand is this:  I read in several forums that Chameleon doesn't draw the boot screen from boot.efi.  The thing is, after I entered the flag "meter=0" in my "org.chameleon.boot.plist", the boot screen showed the spinner instead of the progress bar, which looks way better IMO.  Is this feature not being drawn from "boot.efi"?

I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!!

Hello again.  Is there anyone else here that has the same scenario as I described above? Or someone who could at least confirm if Chameleon draws the boot up screen from it's own boot file  instead of the "boot.efi" inside "CoreServices" folder?  Thanks!!!

Is there a manual install one? The package installer (Chameleon-2.3svn-r2578.pkg) didn't work for me:

"The installation failed.

The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Can you run again the installer? After the "fail" you can see the "BOOTRAMDISK" volume in your Desktop and opening it you can find the "Chameleon_Installer_Log.txt"... can you please paste the text inside?

Thanks!!!

The bootloader was installed fine, but fail on the postinstall script were the ram disk get umounted. I'm going to elaborate a solution quickly.

I can PM you with new installer to test, if you agree.

EDIT

just to be sure, you have selected any other options from installer??

yes, please send me a new installer so I can test. Thanks :)

But after failed installation like I said, I got "AllocateKernelMemory" error after restart and need to recover from backup to boot again.

I didn't select any option in the installer, just next next and finish (error in my case).

Thanks again.

Hi:

Can not install chameleon from the version r2510. My boot volume is mbr formatted, HFS+ case sensitive and with Windows 8.1 at other partition from the same disk.

There are several entries at the log such as:

"Added boot option: GraphicsEnabler=Yes

/tmp/PKInstallSandbox.EfxqWM/Scripts/org.chameleon.options.video.graphicsenabler.pgKO8v/postinstall: line 30: /usr/libexec/plistbuddy: No such file or directory"
Please Note that plistbuddy is really PlistBuddy (important in case sensitive systems)
Thanks for any suggestion.

I've sent you a package to test. Yep this time /usr/libexec/plistbuddy (lower case) comes from a 3 years old script (the one that add the options), so also older revisions (like r2510) have this problem.

You have recently formatted your Volume in case sensitive? .. Otherwise I expect the same behavior from r2510 and olders too... writing options to the org.chameleon.Boot.plist.

Thanks Micky:

Chameleon r2588 installs fine, but  I got "AllocateKernelMemory" error after restart such as other user above.

FileNVRAM.dylib and kext are installed in my system.

Edit: I got "AllocateKernelMemory" error even extracting filenvram file from the modules folder. Currently, I only can use the versions of chameleon from Chameleon Wizard 4.4.1  (up to the current rev. 2538)

Is there any way someone could help me out? It seems everytime I try to install the pkg it installs to the OS drive instead of the EFI, even if I choose that option. I've had 100% success whenever I used a i386 Chameleon, Chameleon Wizard, selected to install to EFI and select the directory of the i386 folder . Is there anyway this can be converted or setup to install in that way?

Hi Gogeta5026,

the installer works like this when you select the EFI partition:
- see if the partition is already mounted (if yes then uses that), if it is not the package try to mount it.
- if the EFI partition encounters problems to be mounted,
- if the filesystem is not correct (fat32 or hfs are the only allowed for the ESP), then the package redirects the installation on the selected partition  (the one that you have to choose at the beginning).

Can you show me the log produced inside the Extra folder?
As you know "installation in the EFI partition" was introduced only recently, and so there might be another bug to fix (something that has never happened to me during the hundreds of tests conducted). I'm also thinking of doing installer forced to fail if by chance ESP has problems, so that bootloader will not be installed in the target partition, and nothing will be done.

Since the i386 files are not available for this versions of Chameleon 2.3svn, is there any way to get the cdboot file?

I think that an old version  of cdboot (but "virgin") is ok to use. this  because you have to fill it with the current boot file you want to use, so no matter the version of the bootloader.

anyway compiling from source is really easy to obtain it...

Hi xmen107 ! Yes , now fixed , but soon this boot ))

Thanks i will try. ;)

Edit: Ok now recognize the processor correctly but I have another problem...in the gui i set countdown time out to 5 seconds but is very slow... in rev.2625 this does not happen it is a problem related to memory?

Edit2: bdmesg rev.2625 vs 2679 memory:

rev.2625 incorrect ddr4 memory but fast countdown time out
