It\u2019s actually a pretty clever addition. If you\u2019ve never changed your default settings, chances are your iPhone has stored hundreds (if not thousands) of Live Photos \u2014 each with a short animation attached. Removing that motion clip while keeping the still image lets you free up a lot of storage without losing your photos.<\/p>\n<p>That said, we would\u2019ve liked to see <b>a few more features<\/b> that are common in other top competitors\u2014like <b>contact cleanup, calendar cleanup, or video compression.<\/b> But since Clever Cleaner is relatively new, we won\u2019t be too harsh on it. Plus, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleverfiles.com\/clever-cleaner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official Clever Cleaner: Storage cleaner\u2019s site<\/a>, \u201cEarly users will never be asked to pay for upgrades or new features.\u201d That\u2019s a bold promise\u2014and so far, they\u2019ve stuck to it. The <b>Swipe Photos<\/b> feature was added in a recent update and rolled out completely free. That alone gives us confidence they\u2019ll keep improving the app without suddenly locking useful tools behind a paywall.<br \/>\nFor now, we\u2019re giving the feature set a <b>4 out of 5<\/b>\u2014<b>solid, practical, and with some room to grow.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"interface\"><\/span>Interface<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Next on our checklist is <b>interface<\/b>. We\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insanelymac.com\/blog\/category\/reviews\/\">tested a lot<\/a> of iPhone cleaners, and many of them look almost identical, with generic designs that don\u2019t stand out. <b>Clever Cleaner doesn\u2019t fall into that category.<\/b> It has a <b>distinctive design<\/b> where each feature is <b>color-coded<\/b>, so you always know exactly what tool you\u2019re using at a glance.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>layout is clean and intuitive<\/b>, it\u2019s <b>easy to navigate<\/b> even if it\u2019s your first time using the app. When you launch it for the first time, Clever Cleaner gives you quick tips on what to do and where to tap\u2014but honestly, even without those, everything\u2019s pretty clear. Unlike some cleaners that bury features behind menus, Clever Cleaner keeps everything front and center. The main tools\u2014<b>Similars, Heavies, Swipe, Screenshots, and Lives<\/b>\u2014are displayed at the bottom for quick access. It shows the total number of files selected for deletion and their combined size<b>.<\/b> However, the way it functions feels a bit inconsistent\u2014it depends on exactly where you tap. If you tap the general area that says <b>moved to Trash<\/b>, it opens the trash view, where you then have to swipe to delete each item. But if you tap directly on <b>Empty Trash<\/b>, it opens the trash and immediately shows a confirmation popup for full deletion. Not a big deal, but a bit confusing the first time you use it.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a few minor flaws, Clever Cleaner excels at keeping you in the loop. Every selection instantly shows the number of files you\u2019re deleting and exactly how much storage you\u2019re reclaiming\u2014the number of files chosen, their total size in MB\/GB, and percentage of total storage. This level of transparency is a big plus, especially compared to other cleaners we\u2019ve tested that left us guessing about how much space we were actually freeing up.<\/p>\n<p><b>Verdict<\/b>. What sets Clever Cleaner apart is that it doesn\u2019t look like just another generic cleaner. But we\u2019ve been burned before\u2014some cleaners promise to clear up tons of files, only for us to find out that they wrongly mark photos as duplicates or group completely different images together.<\/p>\n<p>So, does Clever Cleaner make the same mistake? Thankfully, no.<\/p>\n<p>Its <b>AI-powered grouping is impressively accurate<\/b>, it goes toe to toe with some of the biggest names in the category, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insanelymac.com\/blog\/cleaner-kit-clean-up-storage-review\/\">Clean Up Storage &#8211; Cleaner Kit<\/a>. In our testing, <b>groups were formed correctly about 95% of the time<\/b>\u2014which is an excellent result for this type of app. To put that in perspective, 90% accuracy is already great, but 95% means the AI is truly doing its job well. It catches near-identical shots without accidentally grouping unrelated ones, and does so <em>consistently<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The app offers both one-tap automatic cleaning and a more semi-automatic approach where you can review and decide on each individual case before anything is done. Unlike some other cleaners, Clever Cleaner\u2019s AI never selected photos with closed eyes, awkward facial expressions, or blurry details as the &#8220;best&#8221; one. Clever Cleaner organizes your photos by month, and you simply swipe to delete or keep. Couldn\u2019t be easier. Well, actually, it could, if you let the AI handle it through the <b>Similars<\/b> feature. That\u2019s what we prefer in cleaners: smart automation. But we get it\u2014a lot of people enjoy the swipe method. It turns photo cleanup into something a little more interactive, almost like a game.<br \/>\nAs for screenshot detection, Live Photo conversion, and large video identification, everything works flawlessly. Since these tasks are less complex than grouping similar photos, the app handled them without any issues. One thing we don\u2019t quite understand is why the app calls Live Photo conversion <b>&#8220;compression.&#8221;<\/b> Technically, it\u2019s <b>not compressing<\/b> anything\u2014it removes the short video clip and keeps only the still image. It\u2019s a <b>very<\/b> <b>useful feature<\/b>, no doubt, but we think <b>\u201cconversion\u201d<\/b> would be a more accurate term.<\/p>\n<p><b>Verdict.<\/b> Although Clever Cleaner isn\u2019t the most feature-packed app, everything it DOES have <b>works exceptionally well<\/b>.
