VoodooPS2Controller two finger scrolling support for ALPS touchpad

Two finger scroll on macbook pro

Voodooprojects member ab_73 modified VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext to add support for two finger scrolling to trackpads that normally don’t support this feature out of the box in osX.

The modified kext also does a number of smaller fixes. These include:

  • Stops that annoying cursor reposition when your finger accidentally touches the scroll regions of the trackpad.
  • Two Finger Scrolling Vertical and Horizontal, this apple mac feature is great.
  • Pointer resolution changed, gives better control over the speed of the mouse pointer.
  • Clicking at boot and after wake up from sleep.

Is there any chance of using this method (a threshold for both w and z) to allow virtual two-finger scroll in Linux? There’s already a method for simulating two fingers under lots of pressure, but really what’s needed is the Voodoo method, a combination of contact width (w) and pressure (z). It would also be sweet to either mod the Windows drivers or have an add-on program like Two-Finer Scroll on Google Code, although that project is pretty much rendered obsolete by Synaptics Driver version 13.1.

At first I didn¨t thought it worked with my dv6700 laptop, but I discovered that it won¨t work if the fingers are on a horizontal line, but if you scroll with your fingers at an angle(one finger higher or lower then the other), the scrolling works smooth. Thanks a lot to the people behind the voodoo kexts! Keep up the good work!

@favlex

Does your acer aspire 5610 have an ALPS Glidepad touchpad?

Open Utilities/Console and search for ALPS, if you find and Entry then you have an ALPS trackpad.

If so, look at the following topic:

This might help.

I am just testing it righ now.Unfortunately ot' an old leopard installation (10.5.4) on an acer aspire 5610, so I got the weird slide scroll with one finger but I don't get any two fingers and the the control on the movement isn't improved at all.I think the system doesn't use the new voodoo installed..any helps??
