WinLinMac01
Well the poll is open. Which Leopard Distribution would you favor the most? and Why?
slax0r
Hard to say. I'm running on Kalyway and a friend is dual-booting with Leo4All and they both seem to be working great.
WinLinMac01
What about you? biggrin.gif How do you like Kalway?

kalway is the release i run
and for the first time everything worked out of the box when installing it
i pick kalway
slax0r
Well, if it comes down to it, I'll probably stick with Kalyway in future just because I know this compy gets along so well with it.
WinLinMac01
Which release do you think was near-perfect, or perfect?
a2000rick
iATOKOS 10.5.1, because it's the only one that runs on my Dell Inspiron 1520.

Always gets stuck on IOAPIC on the other distros. I hope iATKOS 10.5.2/3 is released soon
WinLinMac01
I added that option to the poll.

For my AMD machine, Zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 1. I know how to get it running fine. 10.5.2 rev 2 does not work for me.

For my Intel machine that should be here Friday or Saturday, I am going to try Kalyway. If that doesn't work well, then I will try iATKOS. Of course I will demo JaS a try once released.
Manix
Leo4All has been much better to my AMD machine than Zephyroth...for some reason, the Zephyroth DVDs I burned would always kernel panic right after installing. But Leo4All installed perfectly, has been quite stable for me, and also allowed me to be lazy because it had the nForce kext I needed already integrated into the install. tongue.gif

Also, even though I'm getting a Macbook Pro in a month or two, I still want to play around with OSx86, mainly because I'm a bit of an operating systems junkie, and I plan to build an Intel machine, and I won't have to download a new DVD. biggrin.gif
macgirl
None of the Above, I prefer to install with a real Mac and put patches after.

There are no options for BrazilMAC method or Prawkers method.

Incredible that you cant even spell right the names of the "distributions". sleep.gif
Rufus T. Firefly
I'm a JaS man myself.

I don't have a PC as of right now though. I did have a AMD and Zephyroth he made solid releases.

I wish Tubgirl was still around though, than again when I used that my internet didn't work until I installed the IONetworking.kext

agrafuese
Blaaahhhh!!! Not gonna vote.
It's all about straight retail install from spare partition!!! muhahahaha.
Put that as an option! biggrin.gif
Or, at least do what Macgirl said and include the patcher methods smile.gif
firefox
i prefer Zephyroths 10.5.2 EFI Rev2!

its all working ootb

only changes i made : adding some NVCAP values to NVinject to get Dualmonitor working!
everything else works very stable for me!

WinLinMac01
Added that as an option. tongue.gif

Zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 2 (Even though I cant burn dvds/cds on my Sata DVD-RW) and no other release can say that it will work lol
Running With Scissors
Usually like Kalayway releases but Leo4All has been much better on my setup than latest kalyway.
Firewalk2099
Zephyroth 10.5.2 rev 1 for me. seems to be the only one that works with my sb600 690g chipset.
GingerTea
Zephyroth 10.5.1 Rev.2 Internal Beta -> forever! Updated to 10.5.2 by eddie's updater :-)

This system and zeph's release play very well together, I never experienced a crash, freeze or error! Rock solid. :-D
ToroLoco
I vote for Zephyroth 10.5.2 Rev.2. It is the only one that worked for my hardware and fromthe installation everything worked perfect.

Leo4All didn't boot to the installer so I didn't test it any more.
themanis
Well, i Believe iATKOS v1.0i & v1.0ir2 is simply the lest hassle wise and it provides much greater compatibility than the ones i tried which are Le4Allv2 & Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. Again, there's so much more that we can expect from all those great people that Build all those Mac OS Images!

Good Luck to all of them! biggrin.gif
ADoNuT333
Well I would have to say Leo4Allv1 because it is the closest I have come to seeing the installer screen on my Toshiba A215-7422. It makes it to the blue screen and thats about it. All of the others give me a "waiting for root".
workersss
I dont think any of them would run/support qe on my setup, for now I have Leo4all but I'm still in shock just to see mac osx on my wintel machine.
stormshadow777
macgirl is right. i'm a newbie and the distros should be spelled correctly. finding them in torrent sites based on your list would return zero results. this forum is about community help, we should start correctly.
WinLinMac01
Chill, I fixed it buddy. We all make typos regardless. Humans are imperfect beings, the same applies to all dimensions of space, lets not forget that. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Read the post I wrote to macgirl. Please accept my apology on this minimalistic typographical error. Thanks mate. tongue.gif wink.gif biggrin.gif

I've only used the Kalyway DVD. Haven't had the chance to try the other releases. But Kalyway is working so I don't have a need to try the other ones yet.
zorro07
For me it depends on the hardware. use different versions on different machines. depends what works.
muitommy
from my point of view, they're all the same lol
i need to tweak all of them after all, so i prefer retail install.
rtomek
I originally used BrazilMac, but Kalyway made things so much easier, and I think his options are the best
resonance
Kaly on certain specs and Leo on others, both have their pros and cons.
Haven't had a chance on the Jas one, but looking forward to it when it's released, and also to the Leov3.

If I had some spare money lying around (but not enough to buy a "proper mac!") I would prolly go and buy themost mac freindly components and go Retail with patches
Annoid
Well, first one I was exposed to was Kalyway 10.5.1, which worked very well, almost everything worked right out of the box. But I couldn't update to 10.5.2
Kaly 10.5.2 came out, but the installer wouldn't even boot.
So, I tried Leo4AllV2, which required more tweaking in order to get sound/graphics working, but was installable.

So, I guess it comes down to whatever will actually install on the system.
thefinalprophecy
Retail Disc install. But I did use kalyway on a second (external) drive as a temp install of which to launch the retail disc installer.
Espionage724
Well after I installed kalyway, i managed to get my ethernet working without any problems. When i tried it on iAtkos and Leo4All, it gave me kernel panics.Well after I installed kalyway, i managed to get my ethernet working without any problems. iATKOS works great for me in consideration to Leopard, but my 10.4.8 Jas Install that I updated to 10.4.11 is so solid and perfect.

Long live Jas, mad respect...
netobi
i have kalyway 10.5.1 updated to 10.5.2 (photo booth no work, ichat good ) and tohkernel 9.2 on my Mac Medion MD96350, this is the only hack_in_touch worked perfektly in my ALdi machine. leo4allv2 work but no keyboard and no mouse, i think cause to ...ps2nub.kext. the wireless intel pro 3945abg no work for both.
im now trying to install jas 105.2 with crossed finger.

spec:
ICH8 Family
intel core 2 duo 5250
intel GMA X3100
intel wireless 3945abg
Realtek RTL8101E
Audio: Realtek HDA 8xxx
Ps2 keyboard
Ps2 Touchpad
zuz_242
i did choose zeph over leo4all, as it works best with my machine.
with leo4all i had panics and no graphic support..
dodgeme
iAtkos 10.5.1 ir2 patched to 10.5.2. Kalyway for some reason wont boot on my computer so ive sticked with iAtkos. Its overall running great and thats on an external hard drive lol. I should prolly move it onto my ide eventually.
geekdad
Well I have installed Kalyway ( both releases) and Leo4all(both releases) and JaS (Tiger release) My thoughts are:
Kalyway has worked best for me on desktop computers. Don't ask me why it just seems to work that way.
Leo4all worked for both my home built desktop and my Dell laptop with the most features working right out of the box!
JaS worked great for the Tiger release I worked with. I have not tried his latest release though.
So my favorite would be Leo4All as it seems to be more adaptable to both hardware platforms....desktops and Laptops with more features and more things working out of the box.
XoDeus
I would choose one that covers my hardware profile the best way, so I don't have to hunt down kexts and drivers for my hardware. I'm on a laptop, so I'm searching for a release that, has fixed the slow fan and cpu overheating issue, and it seems to that leo4allv3 will work. I'm waiting. I've had Kalyway installed, and almost everything worked. Hope that leo4all will be better...
(MoC)
Kalyway, plz, k, thx.
MiJKa
I would sorely like to vote for the new(ish) JaS release. It's fast and it works. The lack of definition with the patches (and there are a LOT of them optional for you) can make installing it a nightmare for a new user. Heck, it made ME have to stop and think a few times.

Zephyroth works remarkably well, also has a decently fast boot and install time and, as a general sort of thing, seems to work versatilely just about everywhere I've tried it so far (always refering to HW that was supported, of course).

Leo4Allv2 won out, however. It's about as fast as Zephyroth, and requires less post installation patching.

iAtkos, as of yet, I haven't tried. Kalyway was significantly slower for me, both in booting and in installation times.

So I voted for Leo4Allv2. Though I maintain that with a bit of spit and polish, I'd be voting for JaS hands down, no questions asked.
Boot Camp
Doing it Kalyway.

To honor eddie11c's new release (v3), I have updated the existing option of v2 to v3. Those that have already tried it, how do you like the new release?

i have both Zephy's 10.5.2 Rev. 2 and the first Leo4All. My network card worked out of the box with Leo4All, so prefer this one, but Zephy's 10.5.2 Rev.2 seems to intall faster than Leo4All V.1, currently downlaoding Leo4All V.3, seems like my system will work out of the box with this relase. I will install Leo4All V.3 in two days and i'll post my comments on that.
WinLinMac01
Eager to hear what other users have to say. =) biggrin.gif tongue.gif wink.gif

Zephyroth 10.5.2 Rev.2 works out of the box without any problem.. all others make problems like infinitive reboots, crashs etc.
~pcwiz
I chose Kalyway, Leo4Allv3, JaS, and Retail. All of them look great.

I can't wait to see JaS's final release!!!!!!!!!
wanderlead
i chose iatkos 1.0r2 purely for the smaller download size and number of seeders

works great on my acer L320 book pc

only had problem with drivers not available for on board lan

so bought a datel wii lan adaptor £15

runs great
