My ipod headphones died just inside warranty period! Go to apple site and they will send you out new pair - and you won't be billed unless you fail to send the damaged parts back within a certain time frame. I get billed the day they ship the new ones plus I get sent a pair that have crazy static coming through them.

Has anyone else had a similar situation to this?

As for the billing... I would assume they bill you for the new headphones as soon as they send them out, and then void the bill once they have received your old headphones.

My girlfriend was messing with the rubber piece on one of the in-earbuds and she accidentally broke off the speaker from the main support hook (where it looks like it had some shoddy GLUE work to begin with), and I walked right into the Apple Store (thankfully I was already at the mall at the time so it was a 2 minute walk lol) and they gave me a new one after checking when I had purchased them, no hassle. It was great.

Hi MrMacMan:

Do you have an Apple Store near by? Fortunately, there is one near my work so I usually go in-person when I have question or issue.

Sorry to hear that Apple charged you. They may void the transaction after they receive the headphones.

I like iPods but usually end up using third-party headphones. I have 2nd Gen Nano and 2nd Gen Shuffle. I bought some cheap headphones from Sony and Skullcandy for about $10. Both seem to sound better than the ones that came with the iPods.

I know this is a bit old, but I have to comment on it. So one day, me and my h4x0r1ng friends (different than real friends) decided to have fun with the Apple store. I still have no idea how they did this, but there is a Starbucks across the street from the Apple store, and we can receive Apple's WiFi signal from there. So what I think they did was break into the network, and send all these pop up adds to all the computers. Like 100. Obviously on the computers they were able to handle this, and on most of them Safari quit. But the iPhones and iPod touches could not handle all our pwnage. So they all shut down. Imagine this: you are working at the Apple store and you have to regularly restore iPhones and iPod touches because people always jailbreak them. Then you have these kids across the street simultaneously shutting down every single iPhone and iPod touch in the store. That is what I call funny.
