Full Version: SSE2 + Speedstep = Slow clock problem. Any solutions yet?

Hi all,

First of all, yes I have searched, but can't find an answer.

At the moment I am using XxX 10.4.11 DVD with 8.9.1 kernel. I have tried ACPICPUThrottle 1.0.2, and I can set my CPU speed without any problem. However, when I set it to (for example) 1.06GHz, the clock runs slow, roughly by a factor of 5. And GUI, video display, sound, etc everything is slow.

I found that some people back in 2006 had the same problem too.

So I am just wondering, is there a solution to this yet? Or has ACPICPUThrottle surpassed by some other newer modules (it hasn't been updated for a long time you know)?

Spec:
Pentium-M 2.26GHz (SSE2)
Intel GMA900
OS X 10.4.11 (XxX)
8.9.1 SSE2 Kernel
Non-dualboot

Thanks!

For those on Leopard having this issue, try this kernel:

Posting it here because this thread is #1 on google for "speedstep slow osx86" and related search terms.
