First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I couldn't find a place for it anywhere else. And I'm pretty sure that this doesn't go against forum rules but if it does then feel free to delete it

What is this thread about? Its where you list all the OSx86 DVDs in your possession and how they worked out for you! You can also list custom DVDs and CDs that you made e.g. update CDs...

Heres mine:

Official DVDs (I mean like downloaded from torrent)

JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3
Universal DVD that I've used quite a few times in native and VMware installs. First DVD I ever used, for the first install ever (VMWare install)

Uphuck 1.4iR3 10.4.9
This is the first DVD I used in a native install, on my external hard drive. Worked out beautifully once I got everything working

Kalyway 10.4.10 SSE3 Intel only v1.0
I've only used this once actually. First time I tried it was on a Pentium D machine but the kernel kept making the system reboot. The time I actually used this was for a fresh Tiger install on my external drive on my new computer

Kalyway Leopard Boot HD Prepare CD
I've never used this one actually, haven't even put it in the drive since its been burned. I was prepping to install BrazilMac, which I never did

iATKOS v1.0iR2
The DVD that never worked for me. It kept looping the Press any key to install message

iATKOS v1.0iR2 with EqUaTe1 PPF
Another attempt at iATKOS that never worked, same problem as the R2 DVD

Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 SSE2 SSE3
Another Kalyway DVD. This is what I resorted to after iATKOS didn't work and I'm glad I did. Worked absolutely beautifully on the first boot

My CD/DVDs (Update CDs and stuff that I made)

Generic OSx86 Software DVD
Just a DVD that I burned containing the Dell E520 kexts for the Kalyway DVD, the PascalW and koolkal 10.4.10 updaters, and iMovie and iPhoto 08.

Kalyway 10.5.2 update CD
A CD I made for preparation to update to 10.5.2. Contained the Kalyway 10.5.2 combo update, kalyway 10.5.2 kernels package, Leopard Graphics Update 1.0, netkas 9.2.0 kernel and SMBIOS, and every version/revision of mac.nub's SMBIOS

I must say that I have quite an impressive collection. Can you beat it?

This thread is gonna be a fun way to think about the past and the present of OSx86 smile.gif

Wayfarer247
Well, you schooled me, I only have 3...

Jas 10.4.8 This one didn't work for me either, I kept trying but eventually gave up. Looking at it now, I think I could get it to work, but I have Leopard now, so I don't need it.

iAtkos 10.5 Installation DVD. I never actually used this CD. I tried on my Desktop, and it kept giving me the "Still waiting for Root Device" error. By the time I had figured it out, I had moved on to...

Kalyway's 10.5.1 Installation DVD. This one worked out perfectly, and it is the only one I have actually used to do a full installation on my computers.
Korrupted
The ones I HAVE downloaded:

Tiger flat image: never used it

Jas 10.4.3: Used for a long time

Jas 10.4.5: Used

Jas 10.4.6: Used

Jas 10.4.8: Used

Jas 10.4.9 update pkg: Used for quite a while on the p4.

Uphuck 10.4.9 Never worked on the p4, never tried on my p35.

Leopard flat image: Used this to install Leo in the first place on the p35: iatkos wouldn't boot. Never tested on p4.

iATKOS 10.5.1[no idea which revision, probably 0]: Never worked on the P35. Never tested on p4.

My custom dvds[for myself]:

10.4.11[used Macbook Pro Restore DVD 10.4.4 as base] for p35

10.5.2[Leo GM base] for p35

10.5.2 server[Server GM base] for p35.
~pcwiz
Nice...I also had downloaded the Tiger flat image (deadmoo) but I never used it and I deleted it.
amantheboy
I have downloaded like all of them but used like 10 installs
~pcwiz
amantheboy,

You couldn't have possible downloaded every single version and revision of every OSx86 DVD invented from Deadmoo to Kalyway Leo could you? tongue.gif That would be like 100 DVDs.
CmdrMonty
you are all pirates!!!!

*hides his ToH rc2 disk*

see you in hell D:
Suhail
Meh,

10.4.6 HOTiSO DVD: This was my first introduction to the OSX86 Scene.
10.5.0 ToH DVD: This is when I got a much better PC and installed OSX86.
10.5 Prepare Custom CD: This is for when I needed a few files such as the BrazilMac and EFI Patch. Also used to transfer some key files from my old pc.
MetalMatrix
I have:
iATKOS v1.0iR2 - great install and ran great. No problems except I couldn't install onto SATA.

Kalyway 10.5.1 - What a pain in the ass installation but finally got it working and using it now. Only reason I switched because this would install on a SATA drive.
~pcwiz
Suhail,

HOTiSO is still alive and kickin'. Have you seen the new 10.5 Server HOTiSO release?

MetalMatrix,

I had the exact opposite experience of you. iATKOS wouldn't work no matter what I tried, even on one of the most supported of motherboards. Kalyway ran fantastic for me with 0 problems (other than shutdown and restart which was fixed by the netkas kernel)
Korrupted
The HotiSO server release is for real macs, actually. ohmy.gif
~pcwiz
Yup, I realized that smile.gif So HOTiSO has gone from OSx86 to pirated real mac stuff? noexpression.gif
Sabr
I started off with the 10.4.1 deadmoo image (I was on the win2osx forums back then! biggrin.gif). From then on, I must've downloaded more than 10 - 15 versions. Can't be bothered to list them all (mainly as I can't remember).

This is Colonels collect (just incase anyone from the FBI, CIA, FSB, KGB, MI6, MI7 or Metropolitan Police want to know) tongue.gif

Myz 10.4.4 - This is where it all began people! thumbsup_anim.gif

Jas 10.4.8 - Don't remember sleep working, but that's about all. dry.gif

Uphuck 10.4.9 - Can't remember the exact version. Worked pretty well but this is where I got stuck and left behind sad.gif
...
...
...
iATKOSv1.0ir2 10.5.1 - Managed to get it working but sleep didn't work initially halfstar_smile.gif

Kalaway 10.5.1 - Somehow managed to get sleep working and using it now (not sleep, otherwise how would I write this) afro.gif

I think I've used a few more versions of the same update release but generally when they didn't work I got rid of them.
~pcwiz
Sweet Mebster...nice collection. I am in awe at people who got iATKOS to work wink.gif I gave it my all and no success sad.gif

Mine didn't work for ages. Kept restarting continuously. But then I selected an option in his Customize section and that did the trick. Can't remember what it was though.

But with both Kalaways and iATKOS DVD I get mouse tearing which is really annoying and impossible to work in Office 08 with. sad.gif
Managed to control it by replacing the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext but it was smoother before (except the tearing).
~pcwiz
I can't even boot iATKOS, much less get it to install laugh.gif
MrRoper
pcwiz, i got a chuckle out of your post...

Whats that supposed to mean? tongue.gif
(MoC)
I have:

JaS 10.4.8

Worked perfectly

Kaly 10.5.1

Never got passed bootloader

ToH RC2 10.5

Works like a charm (using it now)
~pcwiz
MoC,

What a pathetic collection tongue.gif jk jk.

P.S. Looks like your new obsession with HUDs is completely changing you from inside out (no pun intended) tongue.gif noexpression.gif
MrRoper
hehe nothing like that it just was funny to see that i wasn't the only one building a collection of installer images wink.gif

~pcwiz
I see smile.gif I'm just wondering now why all but one of your images "didn't work" or you "never tried" wink.gif

Are you getting these for actual use or are they for a repository tongue.gif
REVENGE
I actually used deadmoo. Worked fairly well, for the first OSx86 release. The patched kernels that were eventually made by maxxuss were really exciting. tongue.gif
~pcwiz
Lol that deadmoo wouldn't even boot on my system.

its more out of partial laziness and i just plain don't remember really. i'll go back and edit them as i dig up some of my old posts and update my list so there are better descriptions.

actually, i downloaded them one or two at a time when i was first installing this onto my 680i board. due to the nforce problem i didnt' know about at the time i started downloading all of the different versions, hoping one would work , this is what i ended up with biggrin.gif
olinboy1

I'm positive there are more than these, but these are the ones I could dig up.

Sorry it's not rotated correctly. rolleyes.gif

Nice collections guys,

I definitely know the feeling, the past couple of days I've been cleaning house on my hard drives, and install discs since they so easily accumulate. I had to toss a lot of old Vista, Ubuntu, and XP discs, and the ISO images... good grief.

Now I'm down to just to the Kalyway 10.5.1, since it works great on both my desktop and laptop.

Are you talking to me? Do i know you?
U.C.
10.4.1 Deadmoo. Love at first sight. Worked perfect on all my computers. Easiest to install too. Heck you could do it from Windows. Plus my 855GM worked

10.4.3 JaS. Was far better than 10.4.1.

10.4.4 JaS. Super sweet.

10.4.6 JaS. By far the best release of JaS. I still have it for old times sake.

10.4.8 JaS Release 1

10.4.8 JaS Release 2 with new Kernel. My last and final image that I downloaded.

I got a Mac after this. Never really bothered with any of the other distros. JaS Rocked. They worked perfect. Each release of his was perfect. Except the 10.4.8 debacle
ssp
I use XXX 10.4.11 with EFI boot and works G R E A T... (Tony the Tiger) from the 70s
gizmų
JaS 10.4.8 - introduction to hackintosh. worked perfectly on my D915GAV board. updated to 10.4.11. Beginning of a new life biggrin.gif

Kalyway 10.5.1 - Just had to buy a 7300GS card to make QE/CI working. Updated to 10.5.2. Continuation of happy life. biggrin.gif:D

Thanks to JaS and Kalyway.
~pcwiz
I can't wait for the JaS 10.5.2 release!!
munky
i guess i pretty much downloaded all the intel discs and update packages. i probably have them all buried in some deep, dark directory on my hackintosh.

currently running Leopard which I installed myself (by installing the packages directly from within a temporary install from some other leo distro, then patching accordingly). wanted a minimal-patches install, but got problems with USB. since then i installed kalyway's 10.5.2 + extensions, ToH 10.5.2 kernel and macdotnub's SMBIOS. working nice, and my USB works properly again wink.gif

at no point have i EVER had wake-from-sleep working. the system sleeps normally and appears to wake up (and is network-pingable) but the gfx subsystem seems dead. i tried VNCing in and i got a black window, which was weird. i dug up some command line util to re-init the gfx, but it just hung. if anyone out there has the answer then please share!!

ive always meant to create a DVD which will give me full working audio, networking, airport, gfx etc out of the box, but never got round to it. that'd be a nice project actually - a DVD builder program - you feed it packages and extensions and whatever and it spits out an ISO. wink.gif
~pcwiz
munky,

There is a DVD builder for 10.5.2 tongue.gif Go to the Tutorials genius bar and at the top there is a stickied topic by me called FAQ Custom Install Disc Creation and in that there is a link.

Sorry I couldn't post the link direct, I was lazy tongue.gif
anarchy_1024
1. Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.1 (Not the Deadmoo version) - Worked fine on my i865G-based system
2. I remember a 10.4.5 disc... forget now... and I think I had a 10.4.4 disc. Probably in one of my other binders...or spindles...or piles...or maybe recycled
3. MyZ 10.4.6
4. JaS 10.4.8 AMD/SSE2/SSE3 w/PPF1, PPF2
5. JaS 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 Only
6. Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 universal
7. Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4a AMD
8. Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4i r2 Intel
9. Mac.Nub 10.4.10 v1r5
10. XxX 10.4.10
11. ToH 10.5 RC2
12. Kalyway 10.5.1 SSE2/SSE3
13. BrazilMac 10.5 9a581 (Worked the best for me, so far)
14. Leo4All 10.5.2 Universal AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3

Also have the Kalyway Leopard Prep disc, another disc of Kexts, guides, PC-EFI, etc. that have been collected over time (including the original custom-written ATI Frame Buffer Driver that allowed QuickTime videos to play slightly smoother, for 10.4.1...I forget the details now)

And I also have a System 7.1.2 disc biggrin.gif - original from a Power Macintosh 6100/7100/8100-series
~pcwiz
I have original discs too:

* OS 8.1 from Performa 5200CD
* OS 9.2.1 from iMac G3 500
* OS 10.0.4 from iMac G3 500

And I also have a burned (not original) copy of Mac OS 8.6.
Lkr
Deadmoo 10.4.1 imaage
10.4.3
10.4.4
uphuck 10.4.9
Kalyway 10.4.10 update package
Kalyway 10.5 Beta
HackMyTosh
Lets see, I probably have the least amout of install DVDs but I've had exceptional amounts of success with each. smile.gif

Tiger flat-image 10.4.1 "Deadmoo" The first try at running OS X on my PC. I first used this in VMWare, and then followed a guide to copy the contents of the image to my hard drive. Overall it ran well, besides not having sound/internet.

iATKOS R1 10.5.1 My second try at running OS X on my PC. Ran fine, but was not fully functional (Memory leaks, slow-ish, could not install updates/ assorted applications. Besides the factors that limited my install, sound, internet, and graphics card all worked well with this release.

Leo4All. A.K.A "Leopard Universal" 10.5.2 After the monstrosity that was iATKOS, I really didn't feel like toying with R2 or the recent R3. I found this distribution while browsing these forums. Shotly after its release, I was burning it to a DVD and rebooting. I have to say, this is probably the best hacked version of OS X to run on a PC. Everything, I mean everything worked out of the box. Also, everything runs smoothly, everything is noticeably faster than my previous iATKOS install. In other words, I swear this is native. biggrin.gif

munky
thanks pcwiz - i'll get on it biggrin.gif
~pcwiz
munky, read the replies in that Custom Install Disc thread, there are some replies with links to a newer version of the DVD maker wink.gif

P.S. I forgot to mention that I have 10.3 Panther discs too tongue.gif
frauhottelmann
Tiger JaS 10.4.7 - worked perfect on VMWare
Leo ToH would not boot after installation
Leo 10.5.1 iATKOS r2 worked like a charm (now updated to 10.5.2 + vanilla kernel)

If you follow those links you will see I've added a How To:
"Adding your own PKG containing kext".

As for DVDs I've made around 25 of my own, most of them ended up in the trash. wink.gif

+ I've a JaS 10.4.8 and iAtkos rc2
a2000rick
10.4.1-7 - I had a few of these but I don't remember which ones exactly anymore. (mostly Jas though)
10.4.8 Jas - Worked Fine
10.4.9 uphuck - Worked fine
10.5.1v2 iATKOS - Installed but I couldn't shut down! (sound also didn't work on my laptop)
10.5.2 Leo4Allv2 - Wouldn't even boot on my Laptop. (booted on my desktop but I don't care for it there anymore; using Ubuntu)
10.5.2 Kalyway - same as Leo4Allv2 (What am I doing wrong?)
10.5.2 ToH - Boots on my laptop

It's too bad Leo4All and Kalyway don't for for me. Good there there is iATKOS and ToH
