Got any "solutions" for that Bioses IDE problem yet?

That DOC file is just instructions how to flash bios in Asus motherboards smile.gif

I'm sorry, I forgot to do that.
Have you tried changing it from IDE to ACHI? that fixed my problem with the jmicron, I have a P43 board.

No, I was wondering if you would download that file for me, and PM me with a rapidshare address, the translation is blocking me for getting past the user agreement forum.
As I was hoping there is something in the file that would be some use to me.

Got an interesting dliemma here for this one:

This is an Acer Aspire One. I'm currently perfectly compatible, except for one thing: hyperthreading on the 1.6Ghz Atom. Right now the only way to start vanilla is to add cpus=1 to the kernel flags.

This is the bios: v3305 from Acer.

Currently works great, however, just 1 core though.

No prob, if anything, here is the dsdt.dat from getdsdt, not sure how to break it down using iasl though.

This is what you need for OpenDSDT right?

Okay, thanks.
Maybe you will have better luck than me.
I'll get it posted in the morning, as I'm off to bed for now.

You can try this, but I'm tired, and I'm sure it will give a acpi error, but never know, could work for you.

But let me look over it again in the morning if it don't work, as I can not use getDSDT on my machine, so Like I said you might have better luck smile.gif

The bad news is that it didn't work on the vanilla kernel.

However, with the new Voodoo 9.5 beta 2c kernel, Hyperthreading is working perfectly with this patch installed biggrin.gif

Hello everyone.

I just installed Leo on my computer, which is based on MSI-P35 NEO-FI. I'm a little bit confused about flashing the bios. Is it safe to do this, and can I still use Windows (vista and xp) normally? How big is the risk that my mobo will be unusable, I really cannot afford a new mother board right now... In case that flashing goes wrong, is there anything that can be done?
And to question two: How is the flashing done? My PC doesn't have a floppy drive, so is it possible to use CD or usb-memory stick, or is flashing done trough windows?

Thanks in advance wink.gif

Hmm cannot change IDE to ACHI there is no such option in BIOS there is only "enable/disable" in IDE controller settings, i do have however option "PCI Legacy IDE" witch i dont know what it does smile.gif

Yes you can use WinXP and Vista normally after this fix, DSDT mod does not change anything regarding stability of motherboard so its same as you now have, i have atm Overclocked my E7200 to 3.6Ghz and memory to 1066Mhz (4-4-4-12) and havent seen stability issues with this bios, exept that i dont really like this mobo, P35 Neo-FI have worst power management regarding overlocking, 3phases analog PWM is not enought :/

You need Live Updater 3, it comes with BIOS flashing tools, browse Live Updater 3 installation folder and go to FlashUty/AMI/AFUWIN folder and then flash bios with it. I got my self P35 Neo-FI so i can say it works if you use same bios as i do, as long as your pc dont crash when flashing then your safe with updating bios this way (disable overclocks, go for max stability doring bios update), and DO NOT POWER OFF YOUR PC Doring bios update even if it "hangs" this because windows can hang temporarily when updating bios, it will recover from that hang after update done.

Download bios from macnuts website (MS-7360 MSI P35 Neo-F/FI)

Anyway you could make a step by step log as to what you did and how you did it?
Could you link the new kernel, or the forums?
Also, did you try the Kernel with out the OpenDSDT.kext? I don't want to give everyone false hope, as the Kernel is likely well wrote. but, combined, may very well solve minor issues in the ACPI and how OSX translate with it.

@ Everyone Else

This will be very helpful to those that I can't mod the bios, Oddly, no matter how hard I try, I can't get a getdsdt dump, I'm thinking it's becuase my bios uses the .aml inside ( 10 ) and not the 1B.
Would anyone that I can't mod the bios, try to dump there DSDT with getdsdt & Try the new voodoo 9.5 beta 2c kernel?

Please let me know, as there is alot of user out there stuck with 1 cpu

Okay, I flashed the bios and it went trough ok, but now when i turn my computer on, it says "CMOS Checksum Bad
Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and continue"

I tried resetting CMOS but no change. What should I do? :S I still can boot to windows with default values.

Reset CMOS, hit F1, Save bios settings and reboot, should fix it

Had it too after update and got it working after doing that thing, resetting CMOS completly (remove battery, move cmos jumper to clear cmos position, move cmos jumper back to working position, put battery back in, boot, hit f1, save bios settings, boot)

Really, if you flash back to org.bios, then back to mod bios, this fix that for some odd reason. I've yet to find the cause of this.
maukku
Doesn't help, after reboot it always says the same.

When flashing, should I have selected "program all blocks"? Should I try re-flashing?

EDIT: ok, i try removing battery, if doesn't help i flash the original rom back. Well, where do I get the original rom? blink.gif
OriginalMACNUT
Yes, you want to program all blocks. If you didn't back-up the org.bios, look up the Factory website ans search for the MB and the bios should be in the downloads.
maukku
Now it seems working, I flashed it again with all blocks. Thanks to both of you biggrin.gif

To be honest, this works great, as I can open it directly with hex, and dump it into a File to work with.
For anyone else, don't worry about dumping with iasl, or asl. I can handle it from here, just get the .dat file from getdsdt smile.gif

anyways, can you try getdsdt for me, and hoping you can try the voodoo kernel as well.

Hi. I have a very serious problem with my Toshiba P100-257. I tried to activate my Conexant sound chip. Finally I got my sound working (speakers+headphones). This happened when I used a modded BIOS from P105-S6024 BIOS 4.00 (working on a P105-S6014). This model is practically the same as mine. But it has a fingerprint reader. But the problem is that I got 2 unknown devices in Windows and my sleep function doesn't work both in Leo and in Win. It seems that there are problems with ACPI. Can You help me to correct my BIOS to get my sleep work. Whitehorse solved this problem with Toshiba P100-253. His model is identical to mine. But it seems that he is out of this forum and he doesn't reply privat messages. He also forgot to upload his modded BIOS anywhere sad.gif

This is the post where he wrote his method http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=840090 .

What I did is add it with kext helper.

It still doesn't want to boot normally though, you still need to identify cpuis=2 and -legacy for it to work still. Oddly, its identified as a Core Solo, but Activity Monitor shows 2 cores working.

Do you have to use the -legacy flag? have you tried it with just the -legacy flag?

There are errors in the DSDT, though this is another bios that I can open and even edit, I can't rebuild the rom till I get past Phoenix Bios Editor error, ( Unable to write to temp file, ASL error )
Till I can find how to fix this problem, I'm not able to do anything, but extract the DSDT and that it. I'm guess, but It might be how the acpi is handling the new memory to cause the issue.

I attached a picture showing the dsdt error with in the table.
I'm hoping somebody can help me fix the unable to write to temp file, or give me a link, as I've not been able to solve this problem.

Okay, try this, but you may aslo need the Voodoo 9.5 beta 2c kernel as well, still needing feedback if the kernel solves the problem, or the new kernel plus the opendsdt patch solves the problem.
You might look over the Commands that theultimo had posted.

as for the HPET, it's not built into your bios blink.gif

What I did is add it with kext helper.

It still doesn't want to boot normally though, you still need to identify cpuis=2 and -legacy for it to work still. Oddly, its identified as a Core Solo, but Activity Monitor shows 2 cores working.

If this is the only way for it to boot, and no problems occur, I would just set the boot flag ( cpus=2 and -legacy ) in the com.apple.boot ( don't think thats correct name, but I hope you know what I'm trying to say ) so you don't have to type this every time smile.gif

How can I help You to solve the problem? In previous posts I tried to collect all the valueable information and links (tools etc) on this problem. Maybe Kabyl will help us. I suppose that he made the first modded P100 BIOS. Have You downloaded this tools set - http://www.mediafire.com/?yywjg9jmmm1 ?

D/l it now, I had missed your post, sorry about that.
I hope Kabyl can shed some light on this, though I think he's still mad at me, he's way smarter than me and what I've learn so far was by reading, and for the stuff I can't figure out, I studied his modded rom and learned the rest. smile.gif

However, this problem with these rom are driving me nuts because I have nothing to go off of.
@jazzminos,
Thank you. I can now Mod .wph with PBE smile.gif those instructions are great.

Hi!

Can't start without cpis=1 flag on Acer Aspire 5670. Help me please!!

BIOS: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/asp...0/bios/3234.zip

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2400 1.8 Ghz
CHIPSET: Intel i945PM Express
GRAPHICS: ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1600 256 Мб (working)

BIG THX!!!

I'm very sorry, But I can edit this bios, though in Phoenix BIOS Editor it gives me a error, unable to write to temp file.
If there is anyone that knows how to solve this problem in vista, I would be very grateful.
For now, could you try and dump the dsdt with getdsdt for me? as you might have luck with the Voodoo kernel and a opendsdt.kext mod as well.

Thanks,
-OMN

Here's my dsdt dump. Hope it'll be helpful!!

hi,

thanks for the file, i did test it, but there's a trouble it says the file size is 95916 and should be 1743485070 so opendsdt is not able to replace the ACPI table and thus not loaded, if needed i could make a picture with my camera.

i flashed my laptop with the latest bios wich seems to be a lot more stable while using two cores, if i can arrive on the desktop, the laptop seems to be stable.

Hi originalMACNUT!

Now I have such situation:
Hi.

1. First I flashed 4.30 original BIOS. The result in Mac was the same as with modded 4.30 BIOS by Whitehorse (http://cid-c93a505d3e013605.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/For%20Jazzminos/Bios%20-%20v.4.30.zip). - No sound+Graphics is broken. The screen is blinking. In Windows ALL devices are present.
2. Then I installed the latest ORIGINAL 4.40 BIOS. And I was surprised that graphics in Mac is broken TOO!!! Result is the same. With old memery with this 4.40 original BIOS graphics worked correctly.

It seems that the problem is caused by memory. I installed

Original SAMSUNG DDR-II SODIMM 2Gb <PC2-6400> 1.8v 200-pin(for NoteBook)
And the old memory was PC-5300... In Windows EVERYTHING works fine. But in Mac graphics is broken.
BUT!!! graphics works fine in Mac with THIS memory when I use this 2 modded BIOS versions -
BUT!!! With this two BIOSes + new 4Gb memory I have no sound. With p100-102 BIOS ACPI worked correctly (with OLD memory). With P105-S6024 BIOS ACPI was broken and sound worked when OLD memry was installed.

I don't understand anything.

Here is DSDT that I made using iasl-win. BIOS was 4.40.
http://rapidshare.com/files/155128826/DSDT...iginal.rar.html

The information on Toshiba website tells that this BIOS is used in Satellite P100 (PSPA6), Satellite Pro P100 (PSPAH), Satellite P100 (PSPA3), Satellite Pro P100 (PSPAE), Satellite P100 (PSPAG), Satellite P100 (PSPAD), Satego P100, Satellite P100 (PSPA0), Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4), Satellite P100 (PSPAA)

I hope that we can solve the problem.

With great respect, jazzminos.

Is the modified bios version 2.05 exists for ASUS X51LSeries Notebook?
Any good results with the modified bios? (I hope "5 minutes startup" issue will be solved)

Hello insanelymac community,

I'm new and have some questions about kalyway.
Can someone help me, please?

I successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my PC with the following options:
- Storage Configuration: Configure as AHCI
- ACPI 2.0 Support: enabled
- ACPI APIC Support: disabled (No way to install Kalyway set enabled here)
Install:
- kernel_vanilla_92
- NATIT_For_X2000_X3000_Series
- White_menus_fixe_HD3850_3870x2
- SSE2_Jas1048_ACPI_APIC
- ACPI_SMC_Platformplugin 3.0.0 (Intel Memory Controller)
After restart:
- I had to /movevideodrivers at Darwin's prompt (As written in the readme file)

Finish:
- System runs stable (at the moment)
- Shutdown / Restart / Standby works fine

Problems:
- Processor: 2,5GHZ Unknown / 1 Core only
- 1024 x 768 resolution only, but the graphic card is identified (picture System Profiler attachment)
Console massage: can't create a valid pixel format
- SERIAL ATA is identified as "Unknown AHCI Standard Controller" (but it still works without problems)
- ACPI APIC Support (I have to find a way to let this Bios option "enabled" because otherwise my Win x64 will not boot)

1) Does anyone know where I can find a modded Bios for "Asus P5Q PRO" to get all cores running?
2) I know it is an issue in the ACPI table. Is there any way to get all 4 cores working without modding the BIOS?
In Ubuntu 8.04 I extracted the DSDT table and load the DSDT.aml with a tool called "initramfs" during bootup.
3) Is there a way in Kalyway to fix the DSDT and load it from Harddisk like in Linux?

Thanks for help

Harry
