Hey guys, I've just purchased a new Audiophile 192 Audio device, mainly for my PC use - Digital but also thought of using it with the OSX 10.4.3 f81111 (or something like that - latest) x86 of course.
My computer is an AMD X2 4400+ and everything works fine but as you might have guessed,
Tiger (OSX) won't recognize my card.
Now my question is this, since I just got the card (yesterday) I can still replace it for the FireWire Audiophile which's supposed to have support but that means I will add like 120$.
Do you think the 10.4.4 will have complete support for those PRO Audio devices? or mabe someone is writing a patch or can? for these devices? so that I won't go back and do this unneccessary "upgrade"?

Cheers, thanks alot

Yoav - I own both a m audio 2496 audiophile pci card and an audiophile firewire interface.
without a doubt the audiophile firewire interface has been more reliable than the pci card from the mac standpoint.
it's fine in my pc, but it was a disaster on my g4 dual 1ghz mdd. that was pre panther however.
what bearing this may have on your situation is unclear, i guess. both implements have their drawbacks.

m audio squirels away multiple firmware loaders onto your machine.
the one for the fw interface is always in the sys log as having failed.
it can evade detection without warning...still that's the safest m audio interface to use.
that is not saying a whole, let me tell ya.

get the pre sonus if you can.
many of them have dropped considerably.
behringer is going to have a 99 dollar firewire interface any day now.

m audio in general needs a wake up call with regards to their software development.
i'm afraid they're concentrating on a Native Instruments type support ethic.
MORE Fancy Graphics.

Yo phenom, thanks for the help mate.
I got it from my computer supplier with a discount and I get a discount with all M-Audio Audio Devices so I think i'll stay with M-Audio.
Let me just see if I understood what you said,
let me remind you that i'm running 10.4.3 x86 latest on my AMD.
You ment that only your FW worked? with problems but worked?

Cause if it did that's great and I could replace the one I have...
I have untill tommorow to decide so thanks again mate, Yoav

For M-Audio PCi cards, I think M-audio will release x86 drivers when new PowerMacs x86 will be available… I hope it won't be too long smile.gif

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... hehehe, so that's cool, makes things much more simple for me.

Cuase I don't realy need that bloody firewire and the PCI still has use for me without the OS (for now!), though I would like to be able to use it on my osx.

beboy, you sure with what you're saying?
and thanks man smile.gif

They will release x86 drivers only if new PowerMacs x86 have PCI slots, remember that newer PowerPC PowerMacs don't have PCI slots anymore.

I know the devs are really pulling hair out trying to get past the 10.4.4 encrypted OS problem. Unfortunately, I knew Apple was going to exploit that TPM module and scramble their code so you basically need to be a decyphering professional to even have a HINT how to unlock the release code.

In short, definitely don't hold your breath for a PC compatible 10.4.4 and beyond. We're treading territory tantamount to making DRM protected media unlocking look like child's play.
