A study of over 7500 people showed that Mac users actually think very differently than their PC counterparts. The study itself showed that, in fact, Mac users were
more liberal, less modest, and "and more assured of their own superiority than the others of the population." Yes, that last bit is true. It seems that Mac users are more receptive to feelings, so that they can feel joy and sadness more intensely. Also, the research firm said that people who are
open minded are more than
60% more likely to buy a Mac.Mac Prevails

Without trying to sound like an idiot. I think it is the "nature"-part of Apple's pr-strategy that appeals to this kind of people. Whats Apple's logo? An Apple! What do you connect the Clownfish when you see one? iPhone!
Whats Apple's newest product? Right, a MacBook
Air
Well, Microsoft uses a simple "Microsoft" word as their logo.. without the 4-colored-flag Windows wouldnt be Windows, hehe. But this has nothing to do with nature. Its a bit dry if i may say.
Im not an Apple user. But i must say after trying Tiger on my notebook-pc i must say the OS appeals to me!
In the end I would classify myself to the users who are more receptive to feelings
but not to the superior ones!
As far as i know there are also very much artists using MacOS what backs up my theory (look one post above for example. Well ok, he hasnt got anything published... but that will surely follow, hehe)

PS: No, I'm not gay

I highly doubt there is any real correlation between being a Mac User and how intensely you feel emotions or how open you are. Why can't studies just focus on what is actually a plausible statement as per their sample size? Especially when it has to do with something that is quite polarizing like Apple products. As far as i can tell, people either hate them or love them.

Isn't that a contradiction of "more assured of their own superiority than the others of the population?"

I really don't know why everyone is taking this so seriously. It's just a study, I thought it was kinda funny and I thought that other people would join in on it's hilarity. But no, we have to fight about how it's wrong. It's a study, there has to be at least some margin of error.

Woah now, I think you may have misunderstood.
It's not saying that the OS determines how you act, it's just saying that people who use this particular OS just happen to be more open minded than people who use a different OS. It's not that the OS has an effect on our personality, more like our personality has an effect on what OS we use. Make sense?

The article states that mac users are open minded and live in the current if not future standards, good example would be, well they decided to purchase mac over a pc. Weather it was the structure or the gesture, they did.
And self-hating PC users are just stuck in the 90's of Gate's ford focus momentum.

Dude....wtf are you talking about. Ever heard of sarcasm?
The "gay" reply was obviously intended as a way to say the obvious. Which is "WHAT THE F#&K IS THIS WHOLE STUDY ABOUT?"
They are trying to convince people that people using one calculator are better than people using another one. The endless Apple communities search for superiority.
If one would keep both feet on the ground and stop investigating BS the world would be a better place. Why should anyone feel better than someone else anyways?
I'm almost ashamed of running OSX if i see such total nonsense on the web....... I have my reasons for choosing OSX, feeling superior is not one of them i can tell you.
I do know some Mac users that think they are ever so interesting because they own a mac. Never did understand this......Is one superior to another when they own something else? How?
Some people don't have a choice, or not the financial means to own a mac......do we call these people inferior because their financial situation is different? That's what i would call some real
narrow minded thinking!!!!
Good luckwith this investigation....i'm going back to the real world where people judge you by your personality instead of by what you own. And if this investigation tells the truth....Mac owners are superior asses. Feeling superior is a sign being narrow minded to begin with...........
What really keeps surprising me is how money keeps being spend on these kinds of surveys.
Besides all this it's just too much fun replying to Mac fanboys and getting them all excited about defending their macs. Like anyone cares if you use Windows or OSX. It's not one of the truly important things in life afaik.

It's all part of a guerilla marketing campaign.
Let loose the info that Mac owners are hipper, smarter and generally more highly evolved than their M$-using bretheren and others who are suggestible to the whole Apple "buying into a lifestyle" marketing ethos will go out and buy a Mac so they too can be hip, smart and ubercool.
Of course, this illusion of hipness only applies to those in the "inner circle" of Macness, and the illusion is maintained by those who belong to it by playing loud music on thier iPods and singing "na naaaa can't hear you!" when you try to point out the patently obvious, the patently obvious being that buying into such things for the above reasons comes across as being rather sad.
