I really think you two should hop in MSN, or AIM, or Gtalk, or IRC, or SOMETHING. I dunno, you are doing excellent work, and keep it up, but the forum just seems to be a slow way to talk.

Keep us updated! What are you working on now? How close is it to being done? What's happening?

Posts like this are not needed they are just a waste of space and do nothing to help the building of the driver. I know many people really want to see a fix for there HackBooks but please if you feel the need to say "whats happening" "Is it done yet?" DON'T!! Keep it to yourself and check back later to see if any progress has been made.

Thank you censored2.gif

And equally useless are posts such as these. I do anticipate that the same claim could be made for my own post, but this back-and-forth stuff has gone on for too long. For those of you that consider yourselves acquainted enough with the forums to tell other users that their posts are unnecessary, simply do as javaloui himself does and ignore them. You are doubling the clutter in this thread.

Iwidarwin for 10.5 isn't working for me. I dunno why. I have Kalyway 10.5.1.

iwi2200 mac os x 10.4/10.5

added source code based on TWN code for memory operations
this can make the driver faster - maybe the old tx problem is gone smile.gif
can someone grab the sources and build the iwi2200.dmg?

thanks

Hi Jalavoui,
Wondering if you could let me know possible causes of kernel panic when calling the iwl_read32 function in OSX 10.5
I am trying to compile the iwl4965 driver for 10.5 using the latest svn trunk source (renamed to old) for 10.4
Started debugging the kernel driver and found it is KP in the driver-start ->pci_probe when making the iwl_read32 call.
Can confirm that the priv pointer has a valid memory address allocated prior to this call.

Any quick info is appreciated.

Thanks. smile.gif

build 2200-kext and 2200-10.5 on my iMac Intel under 10.5.2 on Release mode (not Debug).
got some errors on the 10.4 version but compiled.
One cp error (file build/Debug/iwi2200.kext not found) on 2200-10.5 scripts.

thanks for work, XL

wow iwi2200 release biggrin.gif

cant wait for iwi3945 to test and see if it'll bring my laptop to life.
XL64
It's not an official release, I just compiled it (as asked by jalavoui), don't know if it works, waiting for iwi3945 too.

Sorry, j've a intel pro wireless 4965 and j have installed leopard.
Leopard is 10.5.1. and the driver 4965 is only for 10.4
J have installed a 4965 for 10.4 on 10.5.1 and my computer in stop for ever.
This problem is for the incompatible with 4965 for 10.4
For this j wont the version for 10.5.1

Thenk's......................

Sorry for my english tongue.gif

I can confirm this...

Installed 10.4 on 10.5.2 and i get kernel panics.

Removed the iwi4965.kext and Leopard boots again.
jalavoui
it's better to build this on a pc
the iwi2200 for mac os x 10.4 need to be build in 10.4
the iwi2200 for mac os x 10.5 need to be build in 10.5
fisrt you need to delete iwi2200.dmg from the project folder
if the build is ok you'll get a new iwi2200.dmg - might need to repeat the build until so (sometimes the script fails)
then post the new iwi2200.dmg here for testing

hi,
i build iwi3945 r636 and installed.
The card is recognized as ethernet,it seems to send packets, but not rx.
asstastic
TWN,

With the new PCI drivers for 10.5.2 my ethernet devices are finally recognised correctly and my Boadcom ethernet device as well as my Intel wireless chip are now 'working' so I can now help test out the driver code. No more "Map is Zero" or kernel panic errors. biggrin.gif

I tested the Kext twice and it seems it loaded correctly the second time.

Hello !

I commited a version with the sta code , but I have a KP.I don't know wherre because my crossover Trial is expirated .
I'm searching a Mach-O decompiler and I will debug it tomorow.

Have a nice day !

[edit]It seems we don't have a KP , but the driver isn't working yet. Jalavoui , have you got an idea of the problem ?

Hi Guys,

Im having a slight problem I hope someone can help me out with. Ive installed JaS 10.4.8 on my Dell Inspiron 2200 and need to install my Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 drivers so I can use the net. I've been to the iwidarwin google code website and downloaded the appropriate files and followed the instructions. My problem lies in the 'network selector'. It says it is contained in the *.dmg file that you download off the mainpage, (along with a *.pkg file) for which you are meant to use after you've installed the *.pkg
Whenever I open the downloaded *.dmg file, there is no 'network selector' or anything else apart from a single *.pkg file.

Im a bit of a noob with macs so I could be missing something really basic here but I'm really not sure and cant find any help for this specific issue. Can someone please shed some light? Is it an application already built in to OS X or something (the F.A.Q says its contained in the *.dmg file and the instructions say to use the 'appriopriate one', so I assumed not)

NB - I have the *.pkg file as per the instructions, followed all steps, it logs out and logs back in, nothing changes if i reboot or not. I need the 'network selector' it seems.
NBB - I am prepared to ruin my install to get the net working as it will be pointless for me without internet =)

Many thanks!
Gerjan
I think the network selecter is in this package (for the iwi 3945)too:

http://iwidarwin.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/...0.5/iwi3945.dmg

So get it from there and delete the rest.

About 4965, is the driver under construction for 10.4 or its working for 10.4 and being built for 10.5 ? Confusion over there.
FrodoBeutlin
yes, the driver is under construction (for 10.4.X, 10.5.1, 10.5.2 ....)!

We must WAIT!

I was curious about this so I downloaded this and installed it. I get the message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button..." and after I do that, it still brings that message back up. Does anyone know how I can bypass this?
Wayfarer247
That is called a Kernel Panic. You need to uninstall the Driver to fix your computer, or you could do a complete reinstall. Don't think you want to do that. Look up how to uninstall the driver in the documentation.
voltbrendan
Heh actually, I just did a total reinstall because I was missing sound before too. Now I have sound and I'm back up. I have it plugged to the ethernet port. I can't wait till we can get this wireless to work!
nickll9009
What ethernet card are you using?
voltbrendan

I build it on my D630, didn't get any errors, few warnings
didn't see the .dmg file so i copied the kext produced (Debug mode) to my /System/Library/Extension.
I got kernel panic so i removed it.
Is it the good way to install it ?
Didn't looked at the log sorry, but I can make an other try.

Try Kext Helper in the Applications folder to install the kext

hey , hi,

ive had sucess in installation of leopard via iatkos disk,, every thin was gud runnin ok,
i had installed an Nvinject Vedio Driver and other sound drivers,
so like after a day or 2, the system suddenly started responding slowly, actually very slow,
since then i did a complete reinstallations couple of times, but in vain, the system remained slow.

and now after installation of Nvinject of same version i get an Kernel Panic,

the mac drive isnt visible in Macdrive 7 in windows. i just get an partition which i cant acess. ( it was working for earlier install).

and how to uninstall an Particular Driver like ( nvinject) if we get Kernel Panic?

ice96
I Have got kernel panic too...Btw If u got kernel panic. You need to remow driver:1) Boot mac with -s2) /sbin/mount -uw / 3) cd /System/Library/Extensions4) rm -R iwi*5) exit

PLEASE!
Everybody who keeps asking when the driver will be ready: I'm shure the bright developers will let you know when the drivers are finished.

The productive thing for you is not to post those questions here, but to donate to the project so that we take away such hurdles from the developers.

Info on what drivers are stable etc (Including donation details) is easily found on the project homepage: http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

/BE

PS: Jalavoui, maybe some more details on what you need the donations for would in crease them?

Hello ,
one KP is left on the driver in ieee80211_if_add :

    //FIXME: Kernel Panic herre !
    //list_add(&sdata->list, &local->sub_if_list);
    if (new_dev)
        *new_dev = ndev;

. This week and the next I have examination , so I will not work on the driver a lot.

But I can help you during those two weeks .

Bye.

Hello,
I want to ask is it way to load module without reboot for testing?
XL64
TNW, how do you debug this ?
Maybe I could help (not used to low level coding but...) but I hope you don't have to reboot every time you want to test a modification...
So I wanted to know what is your developpement environement, do you use an emulator with kaliway on it ?
Thanks for answers... If you have time smile.gif

TNW
Hello.

I devellop the driver with Xcode . and I debug it with address given in the KP and IDA pro over crossover.
For instance:

KP on 0x21fa23de
Driver load on 0x21f97000

To find the bad instruction open the binarie in the "Content" directory of the kext with IDA and jump to:
0x21fa23de - 0x21f97000 - 0x1000(size of the kernel) = 0xa3de

Bye

Hi guys, been out of the country and away from the project, but was neat to look through and catch up on everything. Re: 2200, I haven't had time yet to upgrade to Leopard, so if someone can build the latest Intel 2200 code jalavoui has released for 10.4 & 10.5, I'd be happy to test 10.4 first and post my logs / report if there's any difference on the Tx issue, and then can upgrade to 10.5 and do the same. Let me know.

Many thanks.

I just wanted to say that I have gotten IWI2200 working on Kalyway 10.5.1. cool.gif Steps:
  1. Install using installer from Google code site
  2. Reboot.
  3. If you get an error when you reboot saying "iwi2200.kext was improperly installed and could not be loaded" or something like that, it might be a permissions problem;Go the terminal and enter the following commands:

    CODE

    cd /System/Library/Extensions
    sudo chown -R root:wheel iwi2200.kext

This should allow the module to be loaded. You can test it by entering

    CODE

    sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2200.kext

If it doesn't load, look at the output, and figure it out I guess.
  4. Start nsGUI and go to the icon right near the clock (little blue wavy things) and click Set Power On from the menu.
  5. Wait a couple of seconds, and then go to the nsGUI menu and select your network from the list.
  6. Try to visit a web page! For me, I had go into System Preferences>Network and create an Ethernet adapter and set it to DHCP before it started working.
That's the basic idea. If you can't figure it out, try applying more brainpower to the problem. If you still can't figure it out, you can PM or something I guess.
