WAOUUU Calm down Pere, i'm not programmer or something like this. I'm just saying that Parallels Server will consume ressources in Mac OS X (you know, because you're running a virtual server on your computer)
pere
Ahhh... you were talking about parallels... smile.gif (Please, specify more next time).

The Virtualization software canīt recognize the wireless card cause it depends on the HOST for the hardware recognition, if the host cant recognize it, the guest, cant. I did try it before, and parallels didnt recognize anything... unless someone get more luck with other versions/VM programs...
kmikase
biggrin.gif Well yeah i had a doubt about the fact that we are talking of the same thing after posting my answer. It seems logicial that if the host doesn't recognize the hardware, the virtual server neither. Anyway i'm trying this software to feel smarter when i'll go to sleep smile.gif

like pere said vmware fusion may do this.

but there (http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/features.html#c25453) is standing following:

"Choose a wide range of network options
VMware Fusion allows virtual machines to safely share a single network connection, effortlessly switching between wired and wireless AirPort/Wi-Fi connections."

if this could work, it would be better then nothig.

You could use Workstation on Windows or Linux to make the network work, but not Fusion as it runs on Mac OS X and the host network adapters need to be running. I have a Dell D620 where both the wired and wireless NICs don't work, but run Leopard in a VMware session and networking does work as it sees a virtualized Intel E1000 adapter. Check out the topic http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=118663 and others in this forum.

thanks, i've allready read it. i'm the guy who runs photoshop and a lot of 3d stuff at the same time. so the starting from vista is not the coolest option since vista eats 600mb for doing nothing .

however i'm going buy myself this http://www.sonnettech.com/product/ariaextremen.html litle baby smile.gif ,

so have luck with the iwis.

Looks like a nice card, might get one for a Viao that has the 4965, that will never work. (heck might even buy one to improve the wirless reception on my macbook pro ) I just dont see the point of this half assed Driver you guys are workking on all this time and effort for a job done by a cowboy.. would be quicker to code one from scratch.

You should be able to. I know for the dell it worked fine. Took out my 3 wired(black, white and gray) intel card and swapped it out with a dell (Broadcom) card, just pulged in the black and white leaving out gray (which is for N i guess).

Mac OSX and windows run with it just fine. I don't know maybe you can buy a dell wireless chip and install it in a sony or toshiba if they all use the same type of hardware? You can probably just use the dell drivers? Don't quote me on that last part.

For those interested here is my lenovo y410 dump when i built the SVN driver.

I deleted nsGui.app since seemingly it was doing lot of scans and hence crashing. But now i am in a non crashing state.

I have attached the logs. Here is my current situation(the best i can be in) I see the wireless networks but it doesnt associate to a network and neither can i stop the card. I have modified some parameters but everytime i got a panic, so i am now in the original SVN state, that doesnt cause panic atleast. (or maybe it was the nsGui was the issue) .

Lenovo y410
OS Kalway 10.5.4 - works
Display (Intel X3100) - works
Audio Realtek ALC262 - works
Ethernet - Broadcom 590x - doesnt work
Wifi - Intel 3945abg - doesnt work

i gues the third wire was for the bluetooth, because some cards are all-in-one gears.

My laptop is Lenovo V100.
Weeks ago, I bought dell mini pci card after waiting for this driver over 8 months.
However, I found that V100 is not booting due to the bios lock for a different wifi card that is not certified by Lenovo.
I tried to hack it as I did my previous Thinkpad, but it looks not easy. It seems like reprogrming of the bios is needed. wacko.gif
Anybody know is it possible to enable Broadcomm card in Lenovo?
Thanks.

This isn't really the place for that kind of question. You'll probably need a hacked BIOS to get it to pass the whitelist...try a search.

yes there is ,it depends on whether your bios supports 4311 which most of them do . you have to do the sprom hack for that. it's for hp laptops but it might work for others cus i guess not many tried it on other laptops.

oh and you must download linux gustygibbon or hardy heron or whateva u like.

Applehacker, unfortunately there is no fix for your problem. The SPROM hack tool is for cards with Broadcom chips only, not for Intel cards. Sorry for going off topic, I hate doing that.

Damn, my XPS 1530 just arrived, i selected the Intel wireless card because i was told it was easier to get working with linux... why does it not work with osx since its built on linux?

I'm referring to the 3945abg card btw. sad.gif

OSX has nothing to do with Linux. It has some origins in FreeBSD but not at the driver level.

He said that he wanted to get around the 104 whitelist check on his Compaq which originally has a Broadcom, and he swapped it out with the Intel card. He wanted to know if he could change the SPROM on his Intel card, I told him that he can't because there isn't a tool out for the Intel card to change the SPROM value.

As well i know he got one more computers already in hand. First of all he has got a Power Mac G4 already. Maybe I am wrong, I know wrong, he may be broke all computers. So don't take my comment offensive. I just needed to answer this one since I check this topic everyday. Regards.

It looks like jalavoui is waiting on a laptop to finish the drivers.
Probably because he screwed up the bios of the other one?

the question is why looking for a new one again instead replacing the bios chip and use hp marked intel cards as many people offered here ??

BIOS in almost all computers since 5 years ago... are easy to "bring to live" again...
I haved the same problem on my ACER with Bios corruption... and with one external usb floopy disk and the right flash bios, can easly be fixed... in my i think its pressing the f10 key + power on ...

I learned that with one guy that worked on computer manufactures...
some people think that need to get other BIOS Chip.. etc... but sometimes the fix are very easy...

bla bla bla bla, guys could you try to read a post???

Jalavoui post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...072&st=2760 post 2771
please stop mailing about sending iwi cards for the hp
i flashed the bios with the wrong file
the h2o boot sector get corrupted
this mean that a usb boot recover can' be done
also tried to short circuit to get a boot recover error
nothing works and the computer now get a power failure
this mean i can't write the code for iwi drivers

i'll need a new bios friendly laptop - don't know when i get one His HP is FRIED!!! LOST!! DEAD!!, got it??

hypnotic
the solution is easy : just replace it with good BIOS chip and use hp marked intel wireless cards. thats it. or he can find someone who could do a favor for him to unplug his BIOS chip and flash it on a different computer. i do not see any excuse for a new laptop. just in case i repeat please do not take any my words offensive. i just share what i honestly think here. since i am upset of seeing people lost their hopes after 2 years or what ?
regards.
2k1Toaster

Call the laptop manufacturer, ask for a BIOS chip. They will send you one for free or like $5. Then just pop out the old and put in the new.

If it is a soldered on one, they are usually 16 or less pins. Sometimes in 32pin QFN package, but still, not that hard to solder off an replace.

If this is really someone who can create a driver, they will know how to do these simple and almost free steps to get a working laptop again. If he hasnt by now, then I am filing him in the scammer catagory.

FRIED! Power failure!
Nothing to be done!

If it would be fixable I'd have an extra laptop right away, 'Cuz mine died the same way as the HP did!

So stop complaining about the BIOS Flash and just wait and read before posting.

Sorry if this sounded like I was angry, But this is just topic fillings.
2k1Toaster
Power failure in a laptop just means either the battery is loose so bend back the metal tabs or the power connector is loose, solder a new jack.

If nothing changed ie. He didnt get struck by lightning, the laptop is repairable for less than a meal at McDonalds. Anybody who can seriously write a driver will know this. Also anybody that can seriously write a driver will have a) multiple laptops, B) another desktop they can emulate hardware on c) the computer ability behind not being able to leave a computer for a long period of time.

If my laptop dies today, I will have a new one by the end of the week. Meantime I will use my older spare. If that dies same time, use one of the 6 desktop PC's in the house.

I am a Computer Engineer and Electrical Engineer. I for the most part like to think I know the insides and outsides of a computer. The interaction between them is what a driver is for, and that I have not done much with but am sure I could do given enough time. Someone who writes drivers probably has a similar tech background and similar computer habits.

Even if he sent in the laptop to HP for repair, a hundred bucks later, good as new. Or just buy a new one for $400/$500. That is a few hours of work to a programmer, no biggie.

Very Very good answer.

He is right, stop asking guys and complain about thinks you don't know.
This is like gsm boxes and unlocking, all people just sit dow on their computers and ask for solutions.

Belive me, once MASTER JALAVOUI finish the driver, no one will thank's im they will just enjoy their wireless.
Like I said, like in gsm world sometimes its beter that the solution never come out.

Sorry for my poor english.
NoSTaBoNN
No biggy, Unless you are doing it for free.
Jalavoui doesn't want anything for himself. He wants the laptop to write the driver for the cards.

And as long as he doesn't have anything to write them for. He isn't gonna make any progress, so what's the use of reporting back to some people that don't appreciate his work. And only want to see results.
I am a student programming. I know how its like not having enough money to just have spare laptops lying around or spare desktops with convertion modules.

Because you "can" code drivers, and do it in your spare time ( to help others ), it doesn't mean you do it for a living.
And a Power Failure can be more.. Mine died, Fried board... fixing that will cost u as much/more as a new laptop... I had the price made.

I looked at the code of the driver, Even though it doesn't seem like much when you see it at work. It's a hell lot of code.
And I really admire Jalavoui for this.

Guys... in one of my BIOS update on my ACER Laptop, the I had an Power Failuer and BOOM... BIOS CORRUPTED... and I fixed without change any chip... I contacted the manufacter to get help and they said.. "Only with new Eprom.." bla bla bla.... So I contact with a friend of mine that work in computers manufacture and he said to me, in my case, the ACER as a Step to Fix BIOS ... so i get the right ROM of the ACER PAGE and follow the right steps and VOILA... work again...

The only think i needed to buy was an USB Floopy Disk, plug and follow the steps... some forums help on that... but depends on what computer you use and what BIOS have... and I dont have sure, but its someting like ... take off all power ( battery and AC ) ... Press F10 .... plug the AC.... power button... still pressing the F10 key... and the computer boot automatic the USB Floopy and Re-Flash the Epprom ...

EVERYBODY SAID TO ME THAT THE SOLUTION IS SENDING THE COMPUTER TO ACER AND SPEND A LOT OF MONEY AND THE SOLUTION WAS SO SIMPLE.. I ONLY TRY TO HELP BECAUSE THAT {censored} APPENED TO ME...IM SHARING MY EXPERIENCE...

Lay off it guys. Jal is writing the driver on his sparetime... It's not good sport to nag him about not having 6 more computers at home and what not. Jeeze... C'mon, not everyone who has skills with a computer lives in a rich country and can stock up on them like candybars.

Stop filling up this thread with pointless bickering. If you want him to write the driver, give him a pep talk or a donation, not all these speculations about not being on the level. For god's sake, we are running H.A.C.K.I.N.T.O.S.Hs, we have absolutely no right to ask for customer support, let alone driver developement for our personal needs. HACK-INTOSH. Get it? Not Jal-owes-us-a-driver-because-we-want-it-since-we-don't-want-to-spend-our-mony-on-real-mac-intoshs.

As well as I do know, this power failure is related with BIOS Chip.

SINCE he flashed wrong ROM into his BIOS Chip.

Therefore his HP notebook computer gives Power Failure error.

I do not think that he played with his hardware.

All I know is he played too much with his BIOS flash.

If some of you really believe there is really really nothing to do with this notebook anymore.

He could send it to me, and I promise I am gonna fix that notebook and present it to a really poor person who has not seen any computer in life yet.

And I can do less than a few days.

I swear I can do this.

But If there is something else that we do not know beside his screwing of his BIOS chip UP ?

Then I do have no comments here anymore.

Thanks.

I just removed about 30 posts. Please think before posting, stick with the topic and for people asking about the compatibility of an other wifi adapter, it's not the place, and I even find it insulting for the several coders working on the drivers here.

i think i don't need to talk about this but...
the hp now as a power failure (only work with the batery) and the h2o bios is still locked
i'll use it some of the hp components and buy a old acer with a mini pci express card

about iwidarwin
i'd like to have more people writting code for the drivers - i don't have a howto - but any help is welcome

driver status
iwi2100 - work with no wep for osx 10.4. os x 10.5 is untested
iwi2200 - wep support for os x 10.4/5
iwi3945/4965 - i'll finish the drivers as soon as i have a laptop to work. the drivers scan for networks - need to test packed code and make it associate (this was what i've done in iwi2100 in 2 days)

and...
i do not intend to abandon the iwidarwin project
