After really long investigations I didn't find a tool to mod an insyde bios :-( I don't think that they want to give it out ( http://www.insydesw.com/ ). The only possibility is to "hot plug" the card after the bios has loaded/ mac os x is loading :-(

dude i suggested to send you and hp iw3945 which will work without the hacking
the offer still stands so just say the words and it's in the mail.
Don't try to flash the bios cause it's high probability that you will fail.

Hm I don't think that there's a possibility :-( You could try to reflash the cards' firmware with HP's vendor ID (the instructions with the knoppix files). The BIOS files you have are already binary, I think so you would have to decompile them. It doesn't seem that anyone has already accomplished / tried to do so.

To all using Kalyway 10.5.2 and having the problem like Could not get ID for kernel control. 2, Missing dependencies or "com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family" = "A valid compatible version of this dependency cannot be found" - these errors occures because of the modified version of IO80211Family.kext in the Kalyway 10.5.2. All you need is the original version of IO80211Family.kext. With one from Kalyway 10.5.1 this one little problem seems to be cleared.

I attached the O80211Family.kext I extracted from Kalyway 10.5.1. I hope it will help.

Hm, I think the other possibility is easier to flash the wlan card's eeprom so it appears to be a hp one. A how to is in one of the links I posted.

i find out that both iwi3945/4965 cards can't be hotpluged in linux to try the wireless card firmware hack - after plug this cards the bios locks the computer, unpluging make the system work again

if someone as iwi3945/4965 cards from hp (subsisvendor 103c) please send it (mail me first). maybe they work on my computer

At around 2d2 there's a lot of e4's. Don't know if that matters. But even if you'd find it you had to patch it out in another way (Maybe there are checksums..) What's against flashing the card?

hey jalavoui just wondering if ur using it in windows, cuz i think when u flash there will be a temp folder where the bios will be extracted, and u can copy the .rom file from there to ur system and u can modify ur bios from there. i tried it but i cant do it since i dont have a g7000.

i flashed the bios with the wrong file
the h2o boot sector get corrupted
this mean that a usb boot recover can' be done
also tried to short circuit to get a boot recover error
nothing works and the computer now get a power failure
this mean i can't write the code for iwi drivers

i'll need a new bios friendly laptop - don't know when i get one

If BIOS recovery doesn't work (as well as I know it is working eventhough when there is no data in BIOS)
I think he is better off looking for a loaded BIOS chip on e-bay to replace broken one.

Javaloui, what kind of BIOS your HP is using? Is it AMI or Phoenix. It can be resumed with a pre-copied BIOS in the hard disk and some combination key.

HP has there own custom made bios which is very simple but it's good becouse you can controll fan speed

I have iATKOS's v4.1 Leopard on my HP dv1738 (the exact type of laptop Jalavoui needs, but I live in the US, and i'm not willing to ship my laptop halfway across the world.) and it is awesome, but not practical. Especially without WIFI. I know that you developers do this stuff in spare time, and you do a pretty good job. I agree that Jalavoui should've gotten cards specific to his actual notebook. (and I know HP makes so many models, that parts are easily swapped with no problems) The cards are all the same, maybe except for a string that differs from with the BIOS says, and that's where we have problems. My HP actually uses the Phoenix BIOS, I believe. Operating Systems usually can be fixed, but the BIOS is the thin spread of butter that connects the bridge of hardware and software. Your laptop can be fixed, and I do hope you don't give up on the project. You seem to be the only one keeping the progress going right now. OS X is NOT practical to me without WIFI, so you have great respects from me.

Also, I am willing to help with the project if I can. I can say that MY 3945abg card DOES see networks, but will not connect. This wasn't the case before using iATKOS's version. (I was using Toh's RC2, and found that I got TONS more KP's...and your driver would NOT work) I personally don't know anything about the code, but you aren't far off at all Jalavoui. When it says "attempting to associate with network" (or the such) you only get that prompt for about a second before it goes back to the "main menu" where you have the 1, 2, 3, and 5 options.

This is a 2 step progress and, as far as i'm concerned, step 1...getting our card to SEE networks is a MAJOR achievement. Step 2 is, of course, getting it to ASSOCIATE! haha

Tried the stable svn of 2100. it can see the networks available but i cant seem to connect to them. The network that I was trying to connect is a WEP network. Can that be the problem?

tired of waiting for this project to succeed (iwi39451bg) and because of i really want to online with my Latitude D620, i just bought USB WiFi adapter... its TP-Link TL-WN321G... so, my problem settle now... but i still hope this project will be success one day... i will follow this thread/topic until that day come...

I too have been waiting eternity for the 395 abg proset wireless. I saw the other day on ebay latest broadcom wireless n mini cards so thats what I have odered. They are the ones out of the mac laptops so they will work straight out of the box. Its a matter of opening the bottom panel on my laptop, taking it out and putting the new one in - problem solved - plus N is much faster than G so its like a future thing.

At least it will be the most mac compatible thing in my laptop anyways as some of the other patched drivers can be buggy or not fully functional.

With all due respect to jalavoui and all the other developers that are kind and intelligent enough to devote all the time they have for this project, I have gone without wifi for way too long and am ready to purchase something that just works.

It is a no go. I swapped my macbook card for my compaq presario C702 3945 and it failed to boot. I am now waiting patiently for jalavoui to complete the driver successfully or my order for a used HP broadcom card from a repair shop.
BTW I am chinese and my posts had been removed. I understand(read previous post) that Krazubu, the mod will delete posts that are irrelevant.

now i have a lot of spare parts and i'll use it on another laptop
i'll buy a cheap acer with no whitelisted wireless bios to make the drivers
this can take some time but i'm shore some of you will wait

I'm using 10.4.9 so I guess it is stable. Secured network not supported? Oh I guess that's the reason why it wont connect. Will it be supported soon? Anything I can do to help?

Anyway, I booted my Puppy Linux (2.6.21.7) to see wifi works there. As expected, it detected it (Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B) but when I looked at the kernel module that was loaded it was: ipw2200. Does this mean that the ipw2200 can be used too with 2100? (May be the ipi2100 can be tweaked a little so that it can connect to secured networks)

Hey everyone. I installed the drivers for the iwi3945 and it recognizes my wifi hardward however, in the network settings it is reading my mac address as ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff and says the cable is unplugged. The networkSelector app will not scan for networks. Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to wait for more stable drivers?

good job on the driver! i have a 2915abg and am happy to see how quickly you've gone since back when i had 10.4.7 (now on 10.5.2) last year back then all you had was network selector and it only connected to unsecure networks, now my card is even read as an airport card! however network preferences always crashes unless im connected to a wireless network. I was just wondering, do you think you'll ever be able to make a iwi2200 driver that will get Mac OS X to recognize my card as an airport card and use the airport interface for connecting to networks?

iwi2200 works. but the internet (in osx) is slow compared in winxp... anyone experiencing this?

I have just 133 posts on insanelymac, 120 of them are helping Javalui to develope the driver making tests and hacks, now i have picked a 4965 intel wifi, so if javalui needs more testers about this card i can help using 3945 or 4965.

i don't know what J is up to, my laptop was out for repairs for a while, now just chilling. I picked up some addlogic usb wireless adapter from PC mall for cheap, the 10.4 drivers work fine in leopard while we wait for a driver. i think J busted his bios chip, so i guess we wait.
