I think, if you want to see the packets, you need the system.log, you can get it by typing in the terminal
cd /var/log
tail -f system.log

Then you'll see the log.

hallo! finally I can give a hand!
751, with kext precompiled:

could run kext without KP, but had KP after 5-7 minutes.

p.s. I posted also ifconfig output. is it useful?

gotcha, sorry --I was confusing the previous getlogs command as having that covered. Thanks!

Now checkthis out! I just turned the card off with the switch and it sees that I did it:

P.S. Net selector no longer freezes the machine, now I get:

Apr 17 16:57:47 Sony kernel[0]: error iwl3945: APs don't scan.
jalavoui
mlazy,
great log

now it's easy to see what's wrong
i'll put another version in svn

iwi3945 rel 753
thanks for the logs - hope this one gets better
tip: if the driver is running stable try to use networkselector to start a scan - see what happens in console-system.log. only scan it once. the options for on/off don't work
tip2: if you have a wireless switch. when you press it the card can go off. pressing again will turn it on - first versions of iwi2200 uses this to turn the card on/off - this was before networkselector works

this line:
Apr 17 16:57:47 Sony kernel[0]: error iwl3945: APs don't scan.
is because the driver fails to configure correctly
as soon as i hack all this bugs the driver will work

righteye,
you're a bit late
but thanks
all logs help - some iwi3945 cards work better than others

this lines:
mDNSResponder[22]: ERROR: mDNSPlatformTCPConnect - connect failed: socket 9: Error 64 Host is down
i do hope you're unpluging cables of other network devices - right?
ALL connections must be off before testing iwi3945

i'm trying to make this work without the card
but unless i have TNW or someone else with knowledge of iwidrivers code
i don't think i manged to make the driver work

you can try this script to build iwi3945.dmg
move it to iwi3945 folder
open console
use cd ... until reach iwi3945 folder
type sh dmg.sh to run the script or sudo sh dmg.sh

Alright I'm home, Jalavoui got a question for ya. When i compiled the new source in xcode for 2200 like does it create a .dmg file or do i have to create that? I see where it creates the .kext file so i know its working and it doesn't give me those permission errors anymore (thanks) so yeah let me know. Going to test it out see if its better.

Thanks biggrin.gif

ok- better just unplug the cable
in this logs i can't check inital driver startup
have you tryed to call network selector scan option?

FurmanSK,
delete the old .dmg and xcode will create a new one for you
if it works post iwi2200.dmg here

olvko,
do you get a panic booting in normal mode? try -v or a few reboots

your logs are interesting - can you make the driver run with less bugs?

Oh one more thing Jalavoui, this is with old 2200 not your updated ones, when i would select a different mode i think mode 2 (adhoc) it would freeze as soon as i'd turn it back on. Dont know if ya fixed it but might wanna take a look at it. I'll post some logs as soon as i get the new one compiled.

networkselector still shows

whenever I run it, including when i delete Networkinterfaces.plist, en0, en2, etc.

When I try to kextload through the terminal: sudo kextload /system/library/extensions/iwi3945.kext
I get:

kextload: cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extensions /system/library/extensions/iwi3945.kext

I've also tried this after loading the kext with Kext Helper b7

This is a fresh install of Kalyway 10.5.2 on a Toshiba Satellite

Can someone help me out with this? Hard to test I can't load the kext in the first place

Alright jalavoui i just left the old .dmg file in there and built it and it worked but idk if it updated anything so i tried to manually load the kext files but i dont know where they all go. Look back to the thread ... When the 3965 drivers will work and will be stable, the 4965 (which is very similar to the 3965) should be released a little after smile.gif stay tuned ! smile.gif

jalavoui
iwi3945.dmg build
check if you get this
this is the new script
unzip it in iwi3945 main folder
open the terminal -> cd to iwi3945 folder (check my console_log)
sudo sh dmg.sh to call it
if the dmg build ok
open it
right click on iwi3945.pkg to see the contents
you should get a picture like this one

to instal the driver:
double click on iwi3945.pkg - this will call the installer

the iwi3945.dmg is about 592K
it just like to say that you don't need this if:
you delete iwi3945.dmg and press build in xcode it should do the same as in this script
maybe the problem is somewhere else (check iwi3945.pmproj - might need to be saved to work in mac os x 10.5 format)

anyway - try this script and copy paste what you get in console

well - i'm doing this in a genuine macintosh computer smile.gif

Jalavoui,Here is the output of your script.. seems to be a problem with the dmg build at the end. It's the same problem I had with you pkg script which is why I made my own a while back. I think it's a 10.4 vs. 10.5 thing. SOMEONE send him a mac that can run 10.5! (where are you located anyway?)

Jalavoui: IMPORTANT! I booted with -x to get these log results. The driver loads, has just a few lines, and then waits. When I do a full boot and kextload manually I get tons of logs. Is something interfering with the driver? Safe boot (-x) loads OS only (kinda like 10.4's -s with /sh command.
