It's kinda annoying having an AMD processor on these forums, since most releases are Intel.
To make stuff easier for newbies and pros alike, I suggest you make AMD and Intel subforums on release threads, in the OSX86 Installation forum. This makes it easier to locate AMD releases, and help people with AMD comps. This also eliminates the need for "this supports amd? thx".

we separated into leopard and tiger, and it wasn't that hard. people just need to post in the right sections. if not, a mod can move the topic.

I like the idea, but things could get too complicated as Sabr has noted. Maybe make 'AMD' a subforum of the Leopard subforum? Intel is getting all the love and will continue to do so.
NUCLEaR
Dec 21 2007, 01:54 AM
Tiger is in the past now, so Leopard should get more attention, and adding an AMD forum to Leopard's forum is a good start. If things work out, tiger could get a revival.

being an amd fanboy myself.. would be nice to see something like that. but.. but..
think on that.. what changes between an intel and an amd release... is just a couple of files decrypted or patched... other than that it's all identical! and then it's just about driver hunting.. just like it happens for intel(not to mention that several kext DO actually work on both worlds)
so it's kinda pointless in my PoV

well some people have no idea how to decrypt the files, and don't have an intel computer (me)
and some just want a quick place to check on what builds are AMD and what builds are Intel.
It's not pointless.

But most (if not ALL) builds specify what platform they will work on anyway (before you download them).

What if we created an AMD subforum within the Leopard subforum without creating an AMD one too?
That way people who in particular wanted to post about AMDs could go there and post or not. Think that would be less complicating there would be no need to split it all up into to.

How bout an AMD sticky, which lists AMD related releases and how to patch and stuff. Of course this would have to be made by someone experienced in AMD OSX Patching.

I just don't understand why people can't be bothered to click a link and read the information on an OSx86 release in order to find out if it's AMD compatible... Instead we need a whole new AMD sub-forum! Then people are going to be like "uhh, where's the Intel forum?" and we're still going to get people asking "does this work on AMD?"...

simple. add a description for it: AMD releases and support requests go here.
and unless one of our users has an IQ of 10, process of elimination means if it's not AMD, it doesn't go in AMD.

Fine then. Make an AMD and Intel sub and lock the root of it. Then move the ones that are compatible with Intel to its sub and to AMD in its sub. Is it really that much work? I would do it if I was an admin!!!
Oh, for both, just make a copy thread.

I'm for it also, I like the lock the root idea.
It's annoying trying to get support for AMD related issues/releases and getting invaded by people asking questions about intel.

Although there may only be a few files different, Intel always get the love, and people on AMD or more or less stuck with the good OLD JaS 10.4.8 DVD. We need to either have more of a dual release or torrents or have our own forum were we can do it ourselfs...

This link just gives an idea to people who haven't. Stock the Intel chip is noticeably snappier. Overclocked the there is no comparison. The AMD chip is wholly outclassed.
