I hate using frames, i dont know why but i have never put a frame in any of my website. Its like a page in a page, eating excessive bandwidth!! What do you think of frames? Do you use them? What for?

Frames may have a beneficial purpose depending on your needs. Having frames on your website has absolutely no effect on your bandwith, btw.

I haven't used frames this Millennium.

Unless there is a dire need for them (and there probably won't be with today's solutions), they should be left in 1997. Right next to cursor chasers and imbedded MIDI.

In-line frames (iframe) can be left to days of past, as well. Especially when intending to design a fully-accessible web site.

Why do you ask?

The problem with frames is that they complicate the way search engines deal with websites. In other words, they don't really like it because it makes it more difficult to catalogue and then link to specific pages. This may be a consideration when deciding whether to use frames or not.

Another may be the fact that with screen-sizes getting larger and resolutions getting more dense, using frames means that web-pages cannot be as easily scaled, and design-wise it's harder to ensure the page looks good regardless of the size of the browser window.

However having said that, there may be uses for frames, but usually they will revolve around application-like websites as opposed to informational sites.

Also you can achieve a frame-like effect by using CSS Div tags with fixed positions.
