Thank you guys, one more thing, is there any way i can get my laptop to boot osx without an external display hooked up? I have the intel gma 900 I believe, it's a sony vaio fs-640.

Your ? is a little confusing your laptop should be the default display and should work without the need for a external display. Try checking in the BIOS and see if there is a setting to make it default.

OSX only displays a blue screen when there is no external display, once it's booted, I can unplug the external display and it works fine.

Did you look in your BIOS ?

Whoa there. My iBook G4 does have a Radeon 9200 which only supports Quartz Exterme. The ATiRadeon8500.kext supports the 8500, 9000, and 9200. All of those are supposed to have Quartz Extreme support only, if the driver were to be functioning properly. So, the Radeon 8500's do support Quartz Extreme.

My laptop has an intel 915 board, but I can't figure out why it won't boot without an external display. My desktop has the radeon 8500.
