My only solution with the 680i was a wireless usb device (WG111v3) and connecting only pata devices. MeDevils Sata Driver and other Lan dongles caused all freezes. Even Realtek PCI 8139 and D-Link wireless USB which is supposed to work. But now its stable.

I am a noob, after six months of tinkering i finally got leopard installed on my 680i mobo. i got the sound and graphics working, but have not found a solution for ethernet. the last driver i tried has locked up my system preferences. when i select the network option under the system preferences, it stops responding and i have to force quit, the lan never worked but now it wont even let me in the system preferences. please help, i will repost when i find the driver i last installed.

@DEMONFOX13X

i am tired of the onboard lan and 8139 ....

Hi,

I have the eVGA 680i and having read this thread it seems it's not even worth my while trying to get my (now finally stable) Leopard built to work with this driver.

Can anyone recommend a modern wireless USB dongle that I can just plug in that will work straight away with no driver installs needed? Preferably Netgear as I have a Netgear router (I like continuity).

Hello, my problem is that leopard only loads this driver when it boots in safe mode, but when it starts on normal mode, it says: nForceEthernetController.kext couldn´t be loaded.

Bryce
Just want to add that your drivers are working successfully on gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 although experiencing KP during transfers with packet size greater than 200. Solved that with booting cpus=1. Now computer is 100% fully functional!
moskito99
still our goal should be to make it work with 2 cpus...:-)

any future devlopements on that? mine is a beauty with 1 cpu...all running fine with the network driver....but once i have 2 cpus it crashes with a lil load....
r0bi
This was the only kext that worked for me, thank you very much!

I do have to pass "cpus=1" as a boot option though, still better than no internet though.

Mac OS X (10.5.2) Leo4allv3
Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 (rev2.0)

Yey! I nearly gave up and went out to get a pci card but then I found this.
It works fine here, no probs at all. Been downloading loads of stuff and surfing the net for a couple of days now.
I didn't do anything special, just installed it, rebooted and connection agogo. smile.gif
Menotti
any update on a stable Leopard version?
I was able to get an IP and connect without issue in Leopard and an AMD dual core, but the machine will lock up if I try to do anything too strenuous (sometimes even loading a large webpage)

In the meantime, do I need to pass cpu=1? (where can I do that? sorry, I am new to this)

Thanks

....cpus=1....

hit f8 while booting....and enter "cpus=1"....or edit your boot.plist...this way u boot with one cpu....however our goal should be to work on 2 cpus :-)

Is it worth buying a WG111V3 because i am currently using a rtl8139 and it is so unstable it is stupid.

I am running TOH leopard upgraded to 10.5.2 using kalyways combo update, and it is all working quite nicely.

I have a Evga 680i board.

Thanks

Great work on the nforce driver!
I have an Asus p5n32-e li plus MB 680i chipset
Running Leo4all3
Everything runs perfect on this board (with a little help of course)

I used your original unplug method to get the ethernet ports working

I recently had a problem with my HD and so had to reinstall leo -I installed exactly the way as before-
Now I cannot get the ethernet working

I download the file again from insanelymac
I open terminal and followed instruction
type sudo -s
enter password
after first command:
_I get the message that "no such extension exists" several times

I have tried all night long and everything that I can think of to get it running agian

It seems like the download from insanelymac has changed somehow and is missing a file or something.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks again for the hard work

I'M RUNNING XP AGAIN**

Nevermind

Confirmed 100% working with leo4all3 and kallaway 10.5.2 releases.

I added a password for the administrator account
Downloaded the file from original entry
Dropped file into "kexthelper B7" utility (download from google)
Rebooted, unplugged powercable
****When Leopard was loading i pressed F8 and typed -f to load
Ethernet definately working

Asus p5n32-e sli plus

Thanks for all the hard work!!!!

The ethernet driver works great on my EVGA 680i board with the exception of occasional lockups. I am running iATKOS v1r3. Overall, I have had slim to no problems with the system other than it being finicky with external USB drives and not liking high download rates. If I'm downloading at more than 20 kb/s and browsing, it generally locks up sooner or later. If this could get fixed in the forthcoming Leopard driver, my hackintosh will be perfect.
moskito99
everyone confirms that the driver is working like a charm.....with cpu=1 though.....

is there any work done by someone on making this work with 2 cores...from my side i would pay a few bucks via paypal just to get a dualcore driver working......cpu=1 really sucks :-)
robump
It would be really nice to have one working with 2 cores, it must be possible.

I am running a wireless card for now but transfer speeds are soo slow!!!!

Hi!
There are dual NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (PHY: Marvell 88E1116) on my Abit Fatal1ty AN9 32X.
Everething works fun under Leo4All v.2, but system has detected only one of my controllers.
It shows it like "en0". where is the second one? May be some have any ideas?

I got my EVGA 680i ethernet working using this method. I am running Kalyway 10.5.2.

The only problem is that each time I turn off my computer, I have to unplug the power cable and boot with "-v -f" for it to work in OS X.

its work.. but.. just the light at the LAN. but no connection.. what i have to do then?

THANKS FINALLY WORKING FOR ME!!!!
I downloaded the one in the first post and used Kext Helper (download from google) to install this kext using the easy installation!
Then rebooted and quickly switched off my PC from the PSU button. Unplugged the power cable from the PSU AND Cable modem and waited about 30-60seconds. Plugged it back in, turned pc on and booted with "-f" into Mac OSX 10.5.2 KALYWAY and am posting this message from my new working internet!!!!!

I'M SO HAPPY!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS AWSOME KEXT!!!!!!

I downloaded a torrent which was about 1GB, with no problems and FULL speed (the usual speed i get at Windows XP) smile.gif

BUT
After i restart my PC, the internet just wont work again sad.gif
I figured out that deleting the kext and reinstalling solves the problem, but only if i do NOT reboot again.
Is there any fix to that?
(and yes, the kext is in the right extension folder, but i dont know why it just doesnt load properly after a reboot sad.gif )

Did you tried using -f (add it to the com.apple.Boot.plist file), so it rebuilds the kext cache each time you boot on mac?
Maybe it could help.

Mmmm, not really no. Where is this file? In the kext? Or somewhere on the system?
Sorry, and thanks for the help!

EDIT
OK Found the file, but what do i change or include?
Thanks again for your help! smile.gif

EDIT2
OK. I used my logic and added "-f" where it already said "-v -legacy".
Looks like it works (as of yet smile.gif )
Thanks, will report later on if it works for definate!

Onboard ethernet success with this .kext driver!
Stable if "cpus=1"
Finally a stable system!
Thanks.
(24 hours stable downloading with Azureus and seeding massive files.)

This driver works for me under the Kalyway 10.5.2 Leopard install, but only with cpus=1 enabled. Would really like a working dual core driver, but for now it suffices.
KeyKeeper
Running Kalyway 10.5.2 on Asus P5NE -SLI and cannot get nic working with any of the methods mentioned here. When I shut machine down and unplug the power cord/flip switch and deadhead power switch, all power is gone from the system (empty capacitors...). Plug it back in and turn it on then the lights on the lan port blink like normal till it boots to desktop, light go out and "lan cable unplugged...." in sys preferences. Im new to OS X (I do own a macbook though) so can someone piece all these directions together for a "clean cut" installation procedure? Also could anyone using this mobo with kalyway post their bios settings and OS X install method e.g. kernel choice....ect?

So far:
Both cores enabled
Installed on sata drive, can read/write
Audio works
Everything else is up in the air till lan starts working.

I've already installed iATOKOS 2.01 MAC Leo 10.5.2, and got a problem on my Lan Card and Wireless lan on my laptop, its Acer 4715z . Atheros wireless lan, and i think marvell land card. they're not working

Hi to everyone! Have a problem with Marvell 88E1116 ethernet, motherboard ASUS M2NPV-VM, Zephyroth 10.5.2 Leopard is installed, but MacOS doesn't even see my device, these are only 2 Built-in-COM ports and FireWire port in network system preferencies and nothing else.
So here is my question, what should I do to make MacOS see my network device?

U need forcedeth.kext + nforceethernetcontroller.kext .

There are a few forcedeth.kexts out there.

One of forcedeth.kext is workable for u.

After u access internet ,u may facing pc freeze and hang up problem.

Thanks, problem solved! I installed SKGE.kext (added my device ID in info.plist) and my system saw my ethernet controller. But after reboot i've got kernel panic. I've also solved this problem by booting in -x mode and deleting forcedeth.kext and skge.kext. After that I installed nForceEthernet.kext and got my network up after reboot in normal mode, but also had a problem, my system hang deadly when I opened a shared network folder, then I just changed the speed of my controller to 100 Mb/s instead of 1Gb/s. Now everything work perfectly!
