so does it work on tiger? I been waiting this driver for a year. I'm currectly using a RTL8139 network card, it works but increase my video card temperature. And I don't want to kill my machine if i install this driver. I hav lot of stuff on my hackintosh. :(It did not work for me. I followed your instruction and didn't work. nothing show up except my RTL8139 netcard, serial port and firewire. . So can't connect to internet.....I'm running Uphuck 10.4.9 with kernel 8.8.1

I tested it and it didn't work. Nothing show up on my network except for my Reltek RTL8139 net card

I just installed this driver on my M2N-SLI Deluxe Mobo, Nforce 570-SLI chipset on tiger 10.4.10.
And it works! Just followed the steps of TS after testing it with kextload. When i tested it it just gave me a 169.x IP. But after installing, shutting down for 30 sec and booting its working via DHCP. I do get a message saying that ID 0373 is not know to work, but its working fine sofar!

I found 1 issue sofar.
When i boot to windows before going into OSX86 the NIC will get a 169.X ip. When i shutdown the PC and go OSX86 after powerup it finds an IP and fully works.

Working for me too... with the little trick, when it don't work shutdown and unplug for about 30 sec. strange but true. Nothing possible to correct this issue? great work anyway...

Any news on this driver? I know that Planetbeing is working in the other nForce networking thread to eliminate the Dual-Core panic issue but this thread seems pretty dead.

Wanted to say great work on this.  I am using the kext from the first post and I am able to use my ethernet now on my Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 board.  I have trouble with things across reboot - unless I do the 'pull-the-plug' trick and -f as a boot option.  Annoyoing, but once it's running, it stays running.  

Would love to see any updates you're working on.

successfully installed and works for me on Kalyway install 10.5.1 Leopard

Just some notes....
1. I noticed (as mentioned in previous posts) that under any significant load that the machine locks up. For example. quickly changing pages in safari, when i downloaded a 20mb file, ran a speed test and locks up
2. I tried this under forced settings 10/100/1000 as well as autodetect , forced half and full duplex and am experiencing lockups

Flawlessly huh ? That may have worked for some but i've tried 3 already i had layin around. none work , cannot get any PCI device to be recognized on the osx side. all work on the pc side. linksys, 3com and netgear... "hey wutcha know Denunzio"

Just bought the Encore 1320 10/100/1000 network adapter on newegg for 12 dollars. It has the realtek 8169s chipset on it and works perfectly out of the box.

im having the same problem im having with this driver with my NIC but instead of panicking the internet just stops working. When i go to diagnostics the last to stoplights never turn green. when i boot in verbose it says rtl8139::fixEnetFlowControl - Flow Control is disabled

my card is a Hawking PN102TXA with RTL8139D, it works great for 5 mins then it just stops working. if i boot with cpus=1 i dont have the problem anymore!

That doesn't help those of us who have a limited number of PCI slots… I have my "Airport" card in one, and my Firewire/USB combo card in the other. And why would I want two perfectly good wired NICs in the same box, anyhow? (Especially when I only have 2 PCI slots! Such a waste of potential!) You'd think I'd be more likely to want to stick one in my old K6-2 box to use as "emergency backup"!



This thread is not about Realtek NICs, sorry. Search the forum; there are many threads devoted to your Realtek.

it works for sure, but wait a bit and load some stuff from the internet... once it is choked, your system will freeze...

right now, the problem is not wheter it s working or not, bcoz it is working, but not stable... it causes system freeze... just beware that if u use things online too long make sure u back up or bookmark things, bcoz this driver is not finished yet. it has serious problems...

Just to clairify, before I read all these posts, this driver is for the "Marvell" chips and not the "nVidia nForce Networking controller"...

At this moment... "Yes"... None of the nForce networking drivers is yet stable for most people. So, grab yourself an 8139 (or maybe an 8169) and use that. Alternatively, you may have luck using a BCM43xx with the AirPort driver that ships with the OS. (If wireless is your thing, of course!)

Keep an eye on these nForce NIC topics, though... There's always a chance that there's something brewing behind the scenes and that we won't know about it till it's time!

I agree. My onboard LAN is a realtek, and not supported by forcedeth AFAIK. I love my good old tulip-compatible card.

i noticed that with cpus=1 i get NO HANGS from this driver ever i've left torrent running all day and no hang works fine, however if i leave out cpus=1 it hangs like in the first 10 seconds of a bigger http download...

so it seems to be a thread deadlock issue or something

hmm this might just be luck
but i got it working with no hangs and dual core by
1. moving all the stuff out of ionetworkingfamily/contents/plugins
2. putting nforceethernet there (offcourse chown and chmod)
3. in -s mode, remove all the kextcaches (/S/L/Caches /S/L/E/Caches /S/L/Extensions.mkext)
it doesn't work if you just supply -f to reload the drivers, at each boot, it must have NO CACHES
if there are caches, it will hang

i also disabled firewire,serial port,jmicron esata in bios

i have the striker extreme mobo with that marvel ethernet controller....
the .kext si working for me....but not stable.....i get kernel pani when im using safari and want to do some download!
and sometimes i have inet and sometimes not....thats very sad....!

HOPE THERE WILL BE SOON A FIX.....but otherwise THANK YOU FOR SPENDING TIME ON THIS ETHERNET CONTROLLER

Never mind, I fixed it myself................. By buying a PCI NIC for $12. if anyone else is fighting with this thing and Leopard, and you have a free PCI slot, I highly recommend you stop pulling your hair out and go buy a NIC. FWIW, the card that I bought is a StarTech 10/100, model # ST100S -Realtek RTL8139 chipset. It is 100% Plug and play out of the box. No driver installation, hacking, kext modding, or any BS needed for it to work. Good luck

i have stopped to wait for the release atm ...
although i have the usb adapter in hand,
but that would cause kernel panic for multi-core..
by now, i use the usb adapter in parallel desktop and surf the net ...

i have a working install of Leopard AMD 10.5.2 (zephyroth, with EFI and company).
I tried this driver on my ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE, which has 570 Nforce controller.
It works, but every time i try to download something the system freezes and asks for reboot.

i noticed apple has their own version of AppleYukon2.kext inside IONetworkingFamily.kext, so i removed it and insert the nforce kext in there.. then i disabled PEG in the bios, its something to do with pci-e overclocking, the graphic card and marvell chip are runnin on pci-e.. its a lot stable then before.. it still freezes once in a while.. but not like before.. i used to get kernel panic every 5 minutes..

I decided to try this out today. I installed everything and it shows that i have an AirportExpress Wireless connected instead of two ethernets lol. It shows the airport and en1 as i have a PCI taking en0. This is kinda odd. Umm from what i noticed it ran well, then i went to my class at around 6 oclock and when i got home it had froze. So i decided to Try it out again. I once again surfed then net for about 5-10 minutes and BAM the keyboard and mouse froze, but i saw that one of yalls avatars was still showing animation so the comp didnt freeze but now im stuck if you guys want me to help you figure out everything lead me in the way. Im a MAC idiot so i dunno everything. I'm good with windows, so bear with me. Umm i just installed LEOPARD 10.5.1 i think the other day, im using iAtkosv1.0r3 + KalywayIntelComboUpdate 10.5.2. The ethernet is up and running though. Just gotta iron out kinks. I have not done anything other than run the initial install. So if theres anything i need to do lemme know.

This project nforceethernetcontroller project was picked up by iNOOB but i've not seen any results different than what i experienced with MikeInNS's version. I'm guessing that as time goes on a suitable stabile driver will be developed as more people own this lan chipset. who knows....

i've experienced similar usb drops. I'm not entirely sure what mine are the result of. I am not using my onboard lan anymore except to test ethernet controllers and am using a PCI nic for ethernet for some peace of mind. I've tried a myriad of things not limited to: EHCI usb 2.0 fix, many different smbios kexts, system kexts, kernels....

at any rate, and i HATE this answer. but for me at least on my 680i, the work-around to the usb drops for the time being was to boot up with the cpus=1 boot flag at the F8 prompt.

booting with one core didn't solve anything for me with regards to the nForceEthernetController tho, i was still locking up under load.

cpus=1 should fix it, it might be meDevils sata kext causing you to freeze. i gave up on this driver and went with a usb ethernet. even after that i was freezing so i looked at my activity monitor while downloading and noticed that my diskusage wasnt moving when it froze i connected my SATA -> IDE controller and its all gravy now =)

So I know it says in the first post that this is for Mac OS X 10.4, but I was wondering, has anyone has got it to work successfully in Leopard? Thanks!

I have no clue how to get the updates downloaded because I tried both through update and also from the download site and the same thing happened. If anyone can help I will appreciate it.
