Okay like, my mighty mouse will not scroll up, side to side yes, but not up.

plz help.
madhur
yeah common problem, try holding your mighty mouse upside down and than clean the scroller with a damp cloth then if that does not work hope your under warranty
sigxcpu
or you can crack open it and wash out all the dirt on the scroll bale. i've done that three times already.
Paranoid Marvin
Get a blank piece of paper and rub the ball on the paper really fast

Works for me!

..or get a decent mouse.
(MoC)
Clean it or.....

Go to the pet store (Buy a mouse)

Get a USB Cable

Shove one end of said cable in mouse's ass

One end in computer

Voala!!

Happened to me too. Cracked it open, cleaned the ball, same. Tried the paper, same.

Then I saw the bin! Threw it away. I'm happy since!

Mine hasn't done anything of that sort yet, but I have read all about these issues. I guess thats what you get when you stray from Logitech tongue.gif

Nice spam comment.

All you have to do is to turn the Mighty Mouse upside down, then grab yourself a microfibre cloth,
and some Cleaner Spray (CRT Cleaner works great!).

Spray a little bit on the cloth, and then rub against the Scrollball of the Mighty Mouse, while still holding it upside down.

Continue this for a few minutes, it works fine!

Sad comment, too many kids here.

Grab a polishing cloth (the one that comes with iKlear Screen, or the ones you clean binoculars with - you know what I'm talking about lol) and scrub the wheel (hold the mouse upside down, too).
Orea
Crack it open, and properly cleaning,

or get some rubbing alcohol.
rob356
Do you mean the scroll ball, where you scroll up and down a web page? if you do I have had the problem where it won't go up all I did was roll it around in a circle a few times really fast, and that fixed it.

You should NEVER have to fix a mouse.

You should NEVER have to fix a mouse.

Stay away from this thread if you can only help with unproductive comments.

One can't prevent dust and dirt to enter any mouse,
from time to time you will have to clean it.

And the way you clean the Mighty mouse is more than simple, even you could do it.

Tell me a better mouse than the Mighty Mouse... There is none. : )
(MoC)
How the censored2.gif did this become so important all of a sudden. Is our human logic too stupid to tell us how to clean a mouse. Whenever I have a broken mouse that thing many of us call a brain gives me two things 1. Clean it 2. If the first thing did not work, toss it!. And all of you, the help, it's much appreciated but I don't think that this is so hard. But if today's society is this retarded tell me and i'll clean this post right up!

Uh, any mouse from Logitech, or even Microsoft (yes, even M$ makes better mice than Apple). Mighty mouse is clearly form over function.

For being a hardware company, you'd think Apple would know how to design a mouse.

There is none, like I said (at least for me).
And now you even gave the worst examples, sorry.
Microsoft mice are awful, because of their hugeness and bad design, if you ask me.

I had many different mice in the past (including Logitech and Razer),
and this is by far the best one.

This, btw, is the most hilarious part of your post.

Imagine someone using a Microsoft Mouse in front of an iMac,
that would truly be a person with a very bad design taste.

Whatsoever, I'm not going to discuss with you, so don't waste your time replying, mate. tongue.gif

To each his own, but Apple mice are terrible, and alot of people agree with me. I'd rather use the trackpad on my MacBook than a Mighty Mouse. The only cool feature(s) of the Mighty Mouse are the Bluetooth capabilities and scroll ball (which has issues, as noted in this thread.) The side buttons have almost no feedback, and the mushy "right click" drives me nuts, and is HIT AND MISS (but hey, 50% of the time it works all the time). It's also uncomfortable for long periods of use -- its like holding a bar of Dove soap. Looks like it, too.

Shall I continue?

I use a Logitech mouse right in front of my iMac. Yes it doesn't look great, but the Mighty is just too loud and isn't nearly as comfortable.
dj_stick
i personally hated using the mighty mouse on the school imacs... however my microsoft mouse (comfort optical 3000) actually works better in OS X than it does in Windows - it's got a horizontal scrolling feature that works as it should in os x, but is hit+miss in windows (won't work with most applications)
trioptic
wow, this is a new one for me...

it's not Mac vs PC... but... Mac Mice vs PC Mice? you guys must be bored.... ha.
capt_cope
Of all the mice I've ever used in my life, the only ones that fail on a regular basis are apple ones. And he's right, you shouldn't have to clean your mouse. You shouldn't have to rub it against a piece of paper, or "crack it open."

"It just works"

Tell that to the two dead apple "pro" mice (dumbest design I've ever seen btw, who's hand natuarally fits that shape? Maybe someone who eats lots of twinkies?) sitting in a drawer at work. Or the plethora of dead hockeypucks that now grace some random landfill. (Another "I woke up drunk and need a mouse design in 20 min." type of deal there.)
Meanwhile my trusty Logitec G5 keeps mousing along. It's outlived one mac keyboard (from our mac pro) and two apple "pro" mice. Now that... Just works.
(MoC)
Yeah, I love Logitech mice!
HacOSXuser
Microsoft 6000, sits right next to my Apple Pro Keyboard(best kb ever btw) and i think it looks great. maybe just cause its silver. but i wouldn't by a mighty mouse. i love the pro keyboard, but cant stand the mighty mouse. and im a total mac fanboy.

I'm in favor of the negative comments, I have used lots of mice, from microsoft and logitech but this apple one is garbage, the scroll wheel is way to small and too quick when scrolling, so can't use it for cover flow as it scrolls 3 albums at a time, the right click does not always work and the bottom surface has way to much friction so the thing does not even move properly, tried a steelpad, and wood and plastic and paper but it's dog poop, payign anythign over £25 for this is a rip off, worst invetion ever!!! and WTF is with the super hard squeeze to use the side buttons.... Apple should be ashamed on themselves, and i'm not even complaining about connection or dirt problems... only reason I bought it because my RF band has to much interference so can't use myG7 properly, but the Logitech G7 is the best apple mouse you can get, thescroll wheel is a-mazing, great for cover flow navigation..
ludacrisvp
Lol a humorous topic...
All apple Mice are retched.
But on a funny side note all my Microsoft Peripherals seem to work better on the Mac than the PC.
I hit the play button on my MS wireless kb and iTunes opens instantly and plays music.
In windows world I have to open the application and the buttons only work when that application has focus.

And the comfort mouse well horizontal scrolling and the zoom button dont work in windows but on the mac the are working properly.

I wonder if the mac mice work better on the pc
ThinkMark
Strangly.. My Mighty Mouse works better on windows and Ubuntu lol ! wink.gif
Apple and MS should compare notes when it comes to Mice... Wouldn't buy an MS mouse like lol... Logitech all the way tongue.gif

I'd have to agree with people who say the mighty mouse sucks. It doesn't really suck but for a company that's motto is "It Just Works" and doesn't live up to it, is doing something wrong.

I have bought 2 mice. The first one got dirty and the scroll wheel wouldn't work, the right click didn't work. I cleaned it as stated from previous posts and that worked for a time, but 2 weeks later it went back to being the same way. Cracked it open and it was for a month. Finally I just wrecked it and threw it away.

Maybe the MM that I have now will be different, if not, I'm getting a Microsoft or Logitech one.

Love the Wireless Keyboard though!

I'm not hating on Macintosh, hell I own a MBP but some Apple products are pure sh@t, like the Macbook Air
X-Ray Mac
The only problem i've ever had with the Mighty Mouse is the scroll ball.. So I turned it upside down and cleaned it because I'm a big boy and it's not a big deal.

MM is one of the worst mice I've ever used. Borderline useless.
MINIJack
I don't see how it's that useless..
Ok, it's no super mouse with 100+ features, but for me it works. Yeh, the scroll ball doesn't work, but it's not really necessary, i can live without one tongue.gif

I find the Mighty Mouse great for everything i do, maybe it's just that i haven't tried any others.. or maybe it's just because it's a MOUSE.

No?

While I do admit I love Apple products, not everything they touch turns to pure gold. If you are pleased with your Mighty Mouse, great. Just don't get your panties in a wad when some else speaks ill of your "precious." It's just a hunk of hardware.

My impressions of Apple's Mighty Mouse? Well, it sure is beautiful. I didn't like the fact it blew through batteries so quickly. When it worked, it worked very elegantly. Still, it was a beast to keep operational. I finally gifted the thing away. I'm back using my trusty Desktop Elite Wireless Keyboard and IntelliMouse Explorer. The switch EASILY cut my battery usage by more than 2/3s and I don't have to baby the mouse. I'm not a slob but I don't work in an ISO certified cleanroom either.

In my personal opinion, the Mighty Mouse is not up to Apple's usual standards... yet. As for aesthetics, Microsoft's black, gray, and silver match my MacBook Pro, Monitor and All-in-One better than Apple's offering. I'll make it a point to set them in front of the new iMac and see how horrible it really looks. smile.gif
SunJay
I like the look of Apple mouses. yes, they are sexy and the whiteness is just gorgeous. Even their previous generations of apple pro mouse (you know, the ones with transparent plastic) blow all other mouse away in term of sexyness.

BUT!!!

I'm using a microsoft mouse right now purchased in 2001, you know, the optical mouse with only 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. yeah, its still going strong.

HOWEVER!

I do like apple's Pro Keyboards - the ones that came with the G4 Cube, black keys enclosed in a clear plastic case. that would be my second favorite keyboard after the old ps/2 IBM keyboard that makes a loud clack sound.

And to echo someone else's comment about the Mighty mouse looking and feeling like a bar of soap. I thought the same thing when i first used it in a showroom. lol.
