I was wondering, since shooting in broad day light the ND or ND grad filter was recommended. Are there any form of filters that are recommended for night photography? or there are none?

I've never used anything but a tripod, MLU and timed shutter release to take night photos. The last thing I'd want to be doing when working with limited light is to let less of it reach the sensor!

filters reduce the amount of light by definition. For night photography, you want all the light you can get. Though filters might be used for long exposures of static items in low light; generally, you wouldn't use any.

Depending on how much light is in the area, you could get some use out of an ND filter if you wanted longer shutter speeds. Otherwise, no filter. The link doesn't seem to work, but all you need for night shots is a tripod and a camera, ideally a remote shutter release too though you could always just use the timer setting.
