Im using last BIOS,

I Tried the new Bootloader 132, we can install RETAIL Leopard DVD

read the tread in the news,

afer the combo mega update via internet...YES WE CAN! smile.gif

IF WE USE AHCI SATA we can fix the IOHCIFamily.kext simply by add some lines,

under:

extension=IOAHCIFamily
plugin=IOAHCIBlockStorage

matchstring=IOAHCIDevice

ADD THIS:

<key>Physical Interconnect</key>
<string>SATA</string>
<key>Physical Interconnect Location</key>
<string>Internal</string>
<key>Protocol Characteristics</key>
<dict>
<key>Physical Interconnect</key>
<string>SATA</string>
<key>Physical Interconnect Location</key>
<string>Internal</string>
</dict>

I must say "thnx to kalyway and iNDi" for this,

Boot works also in USB pen drive but just after the first install... so dont use it at first time.

WE miss to install the audio, but we can always put those kext who arent working out o f the box, inside the extra kext folder for keep the extensions folder like a real mac.

All is working fine, sleep, TM, and more...

Sorry, what is this Bootloader 132?

Do you have a link at hand? I have no idea what you are talking about but it sounds interesting smile.gif

What are the advantages of using that over what I have now? Everything works on my system expect for wake can be iffy sometimes so I don't let my system sleep.

macita
sleep must works 100%, check your bios!

The advantage is GETTING UPDATES DIRECTLY FROM APPLE ...at mo it wrks fine like a charm!
candykane
@macita can you upload the 123 iso disk you made for your self?
Because we all have the same hardware exept maby for video
Just put it where demons and pirates can find it?
i'll help seed it.
macita
tomorrow ill try to do it

bluesy
Sweet, that would make it easy for me to biggrin.gif

then all i have to figure out is hot to get the 3870x2 to work in 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 i can only get it to work in 10.5.2, but even then, this install method would be a beloved setup smile.gif

time to update this tread with all you need and make clear some things

ISO FOR USE TO INSTALL THE RETAIL LEOPARD DVD 10.5 + UPDATE YOUR LEO to 10.5.4 from internet using the apple software update tool without any problem:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gmwgcwrvjgg

PAY ATTENTION MAYBE YOU MUST PUT IN YOUR BIOS UNDER CPU CONFIGURATION THE MAX CPU VALUE LIMIT to [DISABLED] and then ENABLE it after the successfull Leopard install (under verify)

ISOS TO USE AS BOOTLOADER 132 AFTER THE 10.5.4 UPDATE:

07/12/2008:
Added HDAenabler (thnx to Kabyl), IOAHCIfamily, IOnetworkingfamily, Chun-nan PS2/USB kexts for mause and keyboard, JMicronATA and more...
http://rapidshare.com/files/129023748/BURNME.iso.html

22/07/2008
Another version with the SMBIOSResolver.kext (SDRAM memory bug but wrks fine in all) THNX to SUPERHAI (www.superhai.com), it works with original applesmbios FROM 10.5.2 and up
http://www.mediafire.com/?6j9wcsxszlz

With those isos you can install the retail leopard, run it and keep your extensions folder like the original macs computers, thnx to GALAXY for his work "the ramdisk is dammn fast", thnx to the others for this fantastic bootloader ( def, kabyl, zef, bumby and all the chameleon gang!)

After the first update for e.g. from 10.5 to 10.5.4 (YES NOW U CAN!!) simply reboot and use the other iso.

After the 10.5.x update you will lost the QE on video card... reinstall it, be carefull to delete the old drivers before reintall, reinstall repair permission.

Thank you macita for your iso,
We have the same motherboard. As I read, inside your iso is neither the audio or video, but is t including ethernet?
thanks again
macita
Ethernet works out from the box, because is the same chipset of some mac motherboards!

Video i cant add nothing because it dependend by your videocard installed, check this section video drivers, iv installed kvush for nvidia...

macita,

Thanks for the links and all the info! I also have the same motherboard.
One question,
Do you have to install an EFI v.8 patch??

many thanks,

No, efi v.8 patch no needs to be installed, is chameleon efi inside the bootloader, if u want, at the end of the upgrade from apple site u can install efi or chameleon for boot from hdd but you must to add all the kexts inside the initdr.img to the system/library/extensions...
The most easy and quickly way is install the chameleon packager that for me is quite better then EFI v.8

Remember that at next Apple update you must reinstall for sure audio and video ...if not efi nject.... the usual fixes post update smile.gif

macita,

Not sure what you mean. You are saying I don't have to install EFI v.8, just the bootloader 123 and then install Leopard retail? So I don't ever have to install EFI v.8, just the video and audio drivers after updating 10.5 to 10.5.4. Is this right???

Many thanks again,
Miro
macita
Yes, if u have nvidia card can be that is working after installl.

After update do you must to reinstall again some kexts

Macita, thanks for maintaining this thread. Another happy P5W user here.

I'm interested in the Boot-132 + Chameleon business. I've read the news thread (linked above), the Karakeeha1 thread, and a few others on installation, Chameleon, and Boot-132. I've got a couple of questions.

Do I need Boot-132?

I explain. I have two harddrives, let's call them 'Old' and 'New'. On Old I already have a working Kaly installation running. I'm hoping to get a vanilla installation running on New. Could I do the following:
  • boot Old
  • format New
  • install Chameleon on New
  • install vanilla Mac OS X on New
  • remove/install proper P5W kext
  • reboot
Shouldn't that work?
macita
Kalyway dvd is one of the best distro for our motherboard it allowas you to run EFI and Vanilla on your motherboard.

Vanilla is the name of the original leopard Kernel, can be used if you have an intel motherboard chipsets and Intel core 2 processor, so i cant understand why u must to do this double installation. At the end you will have a clone system. And how to update it then?

is more simple run 132 bootloader with the needed kexts , install retail dvd, do update system, install all the fixes/kexts in the SYSYTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS (simply copy the kexts from initdr.img on the bootloader iso), install audio, video and what you wnat..reboot (with 132 bootloader) try if all is wrking, at last install chameleon....

Macita, when I insert the retail disc it loads to the gray apple and then does a kernel panic, do you think this can be fixed with a BIOS update? I am currently on revision 2602 and the newest one is 2704. (Using your P5W ISO by the way)

Is there a way to install a new Bootloader 132 without reinstall OS X and format whole HDD? Beacause I've just installed all applications and set it up. I don't wanna bother with that again....

I have the same exact board, reset my bios EXACTLY as described above and tried to boot from CD. But everytime I switch over to start booting the Leopard install disk, it only gets part way and then I get the "You need to restart your computer..." System Error. Only thing I do with the hard disk is to format with GUID partition. Any ideas?

uhmmm sounds so strange, verify your DVD retail install, must be a dual layer DVD, not the recovery....

I have the same ASUS P5W DH motherboard but am currently using an older BIOS, installed using Kalyway 10.5.2 bootdisk + hacked 10.5.3 comboupdate + Genuine Apple 10.5.4 online update. The Kalyway 10.5.2 disk I used installed to a finished desktop in one go with most things working 100% for me. I might have to have a go with this ISO posted by macita at #409 and see if I can boot from it and get a retail vanilla install on another partition updated to 10.5.4 with the same level of stuff working [albeit with one or two extra kexts required from the Kalyway disk I suspect ...]

What I would now love to see is an all-in-one easy ISO boot image which contains an installer assistant to build the basic bootloaders and retail image onto any partition and then also a post-install assistant with the various tools required to add and fix all the other bits that most hackintoshes require after a retail vanilla install such as PC_EFI/Chameleon, DSMOS/Kernel/ACPI/AHCI/power/etc. tweaks and the various fixed driver kext install packages for those whose hardware slightly differs from real macs ... once I get comfortable using the 10.5 retail image I will be paying for more genuine copies of it methinks smile.gif
macita
Hi Bob, this DVD that u want sounds like a dream! smile.gif

Kalyway 10.5.2 wrks like a charm in to asus p5wdh...just miss some kext like time machine fix (cant find volume for backup) ...

btw if u want to awake from sleep look in my bios setup in power management!

Anyone got the ASUS remote control thing to work on OSX? What about the variable/speedstep/quietCPU BIOS fan speed stuff?

I will try updating my BIOS to a later version and use the exact same BIOS settings to see if I can get my machine to run the fans slower and wake from sleep properly. I strongly suspect that in order for any system to properly hibernate (i.e. suspend to disk not just RAM) the graphics and disks might need to use good drivers as I have had interesting results on this motherboard when hibernating other operating systems with different graphics chipsets/drivers and RAID setups. If I have any success I will post a guide...

I am looking forward to trying to build a retail-booting ISO that contains all the correct drivers for as much hardware as possible and maybe add the excellent PCWiz OSx86Tools and Netkas' GFXUtil too with some PDF tutorials based on all the excellent info on these forums... then host on the bay and the demon for all to share smile.gif

usb or ps2?

Bob Ajob
Yes, you should use a USB keyboard and mouse (like real macs do...) or add the kexts for ps2 ones (which I believe the 10.5.4 update removes functions for or something). I also use the Apple bluetooth keyboard and a Microsoft bluetooth mouse (with a D-Link D-120 dongle) but only after I have the wired USB ones working first ...

Now see, if you have used EFI strings like I did for my 8800GT, you would have had QE the whole time. As long as nothing overwrites my com.apple.Boot.plist file, I'm golden.

Hello to all of you, I am currently having a problem with my energy saving mode and I hope someone can help me.

When I click on "Sleep" from the top-left apple icon menu, my computer is going to sleep without any problem. I push the power button on my case and Leopard is coming back without any problem.

But the thing is, if I go in Energy Saver in the System Preferences and try to put my computer to sleep in X minutes, it doesn't work, only my monitor is going to sleep. I also tried to schedule a sleep in 5 minutes and it doesn't work. Can someone tell why the system is not able to automatically going to sleep ?

I have a p5w dh deluxe with bios v2602 (not the latest since it only add support for more cpus) with the settings from the previous page of this thread (except repost video on s3 resume because it wasn't working for me) , 4 gb, q6600, x1900xtx. I first installed kalyway 10.5.1, then update with kalyway 10.5.2, kalyway 10.5.3 and apple original 10.5.4.

Before that, I also had a weird behaviour with the sleep mode by manually asking for it. When I was coming back from sleep my IDE HDDs (on jmicron controller) were unmounting themselves. But for now, I disabled the controller in the bios.

Any one have a hint? Thanks.

usually it´s some app that is keeping it awake. check in activity monitor what´s running.

it seems that the SMBIOSResolver.kext and the DECRYPT.kext are speeding up the system..... verbose mode is on by default, im getting some nfos to rid from it!

i updated the iso with a new one (be carefull SMBIOSResolver wrks with original applesmbios from 10.5.2 and +)

is it to use after the retail install and update... i dont tested it for retail install, and i dunno if it will works, (original applesmbios 10.5.2 is not included on it) so use it post install+update

i too am getting gray "restart your computer" screen with the burnme.iso. I copied BIOS settings exactly and I have the correct retail DVD. Could there be other BIOS settings that are important too? I can't think what the difference would be for the people it works for and the people it doesn't.

Currently in use:
sleep 3

powerbutton 1
hibernatefile /var/vw/sleepimage
hibernatemode 1
womp 0
