Hello mac gurus,


I need a graphic card compatible with 10.5 hackint0sh. I will be doing video editing on dual monitor setup. I am kind of torn between new GeForce 8800GT (http://topic.expreview.com/2007-10-23/1193114539d6255.html) and ATI HD2600 because of VP2 Video procesor. Does new os x support 8800GT and will it be able to use VP2 processor for video processing? How important is good graphic card for video editing, because if there is no difference between these two and X1650, there is no point in buying expensive card.

Well I thiking for Video editing, you should just get a midrange card. The 8800 might be overkill, except if you love gaming. Have you considered the 7xxx series? They will definitely work well with dual-screens.

I don't know about VP2 processors...I do know that for certain things, eg Final Cut Studio's Motion and Color are GPU accelerated so a decent GPU helps.
