Full Version: onbooard sound: buying a new 775 mobo

i just broke a foxconn 945g7md into two pieces because of anger managment (problems sleep.gif )

there was an alc860 on it.
i couldn't get it to work, sound output did work with azalia, but there was no volume control.

now i need a new mobo (obviously).

and i dont know witch one to buy, but it must be a µatx with gma500.

ok, better go for a alc888 or a alc883? i don't want to edit any kexts by hand, this failed in the first place and i had stop myself trying it over and over again by deadly force (to the mobo).
there are many, many postings about alc888 and alc883, some say it works some say no, i don't care for full functionality but output an volume control is a must.

long text, short thing, wich alc chipset will work by simply installing some patch availible on this forum?
will use any patch, skippyretard ones or the taruga drop thing, doesnt matter, but no more editig azalia or applehda kexts, or i don't know what or who i'm gonna hurt next

thanks in advance

i thik you must look for a P5LD2-VM 2.0 board, it is a very good card, i haveall the drivers for her...

all is working (audio in/out as well)

- 945 g chipset
- version 2.0 allow you to use core2duo processors
- Alc 882 is far more supported than all the others... in my new 4 core Hackintosh i have a Alc 883 without /in...
- Network is ok
- Integrated GMA 950 run very well...(but it have a pci-express 16x too)
- USB1-2 is ok
- ATA is ok
- Sata is ok too

Actualy, it's the most compatible card for me... but no Quad Core...

ASRock ConRoe 1333 DVI/H 2.0 will work. No manual editing needed for sound output, just install AzaliaAudio.pkg and you`re done. But, to be honest - buy any board you like, regarding sound just spend 10$ for the Speed Link USB-soundcard. No extra driver at all required. Look HERE

lol I know the feeling did like 20 installs befor i got a stable OSX working on my asus P5W DH (had a faulty bios setting :S)

But the asrock is a great board , my asrock has bin running OSX sinds deadmo came out with his iso. lucky me i have the asrock P4dual 915 gl (sock 478) and don't nead to in stall any thing tongue.gif every things just works ( did have to use a core image patch in 10.4.9) but with all previeus versions every thing just worked.

But believe me there is no sutch thing as a 100% good working hackin tosh every update is a risk , and after every update you nead to reinstall all the kext files. if you want every thing to work get a real MAC.

Hi: an i975X P5W-DH & the ALC882 (ver 0.4b) hosted here works fine for me through several installs [10.4.8/9/10]: output/input definitely work - tho' I have not tested SP/DIF.

thank you guys, you are great, haven't thought that someone would answer me (infact i haven't really crushed the foxconn but i was about to do it, i spent 45 euros on it and this is quiet money for me as a student)

this mobo will be my second choice (only because my favorit dealer doesn't offer it)

thank you also, i already had this asrock in mind an i searched for it on the forum, there seems to be an issu with bios above 1.0, but it looks like i need a newer bios because of the celeron s420 wich im goingt to use.
if this board will work, it will be my first choice, because of the price and my dealer has it in stock.
this usb thing is no option for me, but thanks for the tip

actually i had better compatibilty with my old amd sse2 box from  my signature, i just installed and the sound worked (usb, FW, lan too)
and this time i bought intel because of compatibility and it's just worse.

i know about the difference to a real mac, but even the mac mini (wich is kinda useless) ist still far of my budget, at the moment im trying to get away under 220€ with the option to add a decent graphics card in a year or so. i already own some hdds and a monitor so they are not in caculation.

so this will be third choice; edit: far of budget

It is confirmed that any firmware up to 1.40 will work. Maybe also 1.50 and 1.60, but 1.70 and 1.80 seem to cause problems. The question is, is your CPU supported with 1.40...

ok,
the asrock homepage says the celeron 400 series is supportted by all bios versions.
tomorrow i will now, and tell you, just for the search engine.
eject
ok, simply replaced it with the foxconn and it just works!

i dont know wich bios vers this one has but i don't care either.

only thing i didn'T recognize before buying, no firewire,
4x ddr could only be used with singel sided ram, maybe hats normal, but if i had knowed this, i could have also bought a 2x ddr2 board

52 euro and sound out works with azalia, maybe could use other methods to get it fully functionally, but for now i will just rest.

thank you for your help

edit: it got shipped to me with bios version 1.50
no need to flash to run osx
