ok so im going to assume that the hardware differences between the 5.5g ipod and the 6g ipod (classic cuz im not quite sure if 6g can apply to touch and classic) isnt very big. we live in a forum of apple geniuses. couldnt the 6g firmware be modified to work on the 5.5g ipod? i really want the cover flow, and i just got my 5.5g in june. i feel kinda gyped.

Nope, the 6g firmware won't work but hackers have released a version of the 6g firmware for 5 and 5.5g iPods. Cons: No CoverFlow but heres the link to the instructions and download for the hacked firmware.

well as it turns out my friend broke my ipod while i was in USMC boot camp, so ill be getting one of those fancy ipod classics anyhow. :]
