Hi,

I don't know what to do, whether to save up my money and buy an iMac or buy a powerful PC to run OSX86 on.

Just now I am using a 2.4ghz Pentium 4 with 512mb ram. Sound only works from my USB soundcard and I cannot get my secong graphics card working. I also find that OSX86 is quite slow and sometimes crashes when running programs like Digital Performer and Logic Pro.

If I bought a Core 2 Quad 2.4 Ghz with 2 GB ram would I see a difference in performance and would I get the same performance as if I was using a proper Mac computer?

Please advise

its really really fast on mine and mine is a $300 1.8GHz core 2 duo shuttle with vanilla JaS 10.4.9 sse3 and gma950/ddr2 667 ram.
one bounce and firefox launches.

So, buying a Intel Core 2 Quad PC is the way to go instead of saving up my money a bit more for an iMac?

Please advise

buy an imac if you can afford it. i cant so i use a $300 core 2 which works faster than an imac (but doesnt update directly from apple, may crash rosetta applications etc)

Ok, I'll save a little bit more and get an iMac. I was on the verge of getting that Core 2 Quad 2.4ghz PC but I guess getting an iMac will mean I have a stable fast machine. I should have my iMac by the end of October. Only Mac I own just now is a Macbook Core 2 Duo and that is fast.

Cheers
