I was one of the lucky ones and had my built in sound to work.
Well now it is at it's end, having the volume turned up almost all the way to hear anything in OS X AND XP. I am looking for a new one. Before I went out and bought one I wanted to know, what is the best card to use for Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 AMD? I would like to have it work out of the box, plug-and-play. Also it dosent matter, external, USB, PCI.
Thanks

Try USB Sound Card... It works out of the box and is completely Plug-n-Play and needs no driver. OSX is quite campatible with USB devices.
I am using one after fighting for more than a week to get ALC850 onboard sound working.

I bought a Creative Labs 24bit Live USB controller from eBay for $24USD. It works great out of the box with both sound out and mic in. It's nice to actually hear the music playing at the welcome screen when setting up OSX86.

I saw that too, but it's only USB 1.1. If you read the * on their website it says that you might not be able to have mic and sound at the same time.
