I forgot how to solve this:

I tried multiplying the whole thing by 12 because thats the Least Common Denominator but that didn't work.

EDIT: Nevermind I found my mistake. I forgot to multiply 12 by 6 at the end. You can solve this for fun if you want.

buy a casio fx-115ms, cheap sci-calculator that solves equations.

I do have a TI-84 Plus. But it doesn't solve this type of equation. Anyway as I said above I got the right answer. Since I can't delete the thread I wrote the edit line.

Jesus, if you have to rely on a calculator to do this then you're in bigger trouble than you thought, guys.

in the math menu on your ti84 at the bottom there is a function called "Solver...". you have to set the equation equal to zero and i would use x instead of u (not necessary but easier). enter the equation, press enter, scroll down to "X=" and hit alpha enter..

it seems like a lot of work, but its not. and its good for multivariable equations. you just tell the calculator the known variables are and go to the other and do alpha enter on it.

What sort of level maths is this?

If I couldn't do that without a calculator, my maths teacher would take a fit at me!

This is the Prerequisite chapter for Calculus. It's been a long summer and starting school again made my brain hurt. LOL

Yeah, really.

That was too easy...

And good luck with calculus, especially integration. It's a real pain for someone who's not really into math like me.

I don't mean to be condescending, but would it not have been easier to sit for an hour or two and learn how to solve the problems than having to deal with all the stress involved with sneaking around just to cheat on yourself?

So you're just about to do differentiation etc?

meh. i did pass the AP test, so its not like i didnt know the material, but i probably could have scored a five if i hadn't cheated. i was bored in that class. most of the time i sat in the back playing world of warcraft on my laptop. as for the stress, there wasnt so much any of that. i was a student aide for my calculus (they couldnt give me another off period cuz there's laws in texas about how much of the day you have to be in school), but my teacher was cool and just let me do the work at home. after i got my diploma, i went back and told her, but she said she already knew i wasnt doing the work from my test scores, but she didn't care because i passed the ap test and that was the goal of the class.
