Is there any sound card with 5.1 support which actually works?

I have Realtek ALC655 but 5.1 no success.

Nobody`s here with 5.1 working speakers? Really??

I am using USB Soundblaster 24Bit and 5.1 works fine i.e. in VLC Player or other apps that support 5.1 sound.
Apps from Apple like Quicktime or iTunes do not support 5.1 so only stereo there.

Unlike Windows, OSX does not support multi-channel surround at the OS level. I'm hoping that 10.5 rectifies this, as it is my single biggest irritation with OSX at the moment.
