I was searching around for a while and I was able to find a program called. Keyboard Maestro, this will let you set up your keys exactly like they would work in 10.4.10, and much much more. http://www.keyboardmaestro.com/main/ . Hope this helps some of you guys. I also dont suggest rippin this one off with the serial code that the KCNcrew application provides....... angel.png

what! wtf!, I've the 10.4.10 update installed on my system, that means that I can use the new apple keyboard, or I need something more?, thanks for any help smile.gif
strangedaze
Sorry I didnt word that the best. The apple keyboard works with all usb computers. BUT if you want all the cool extras that apple included on the keyboard. Like dashboard shortcut. Brightness UP/Down. iTunes controls. Volume UP/Down. Expose'. You need to have 10.4.10, to use those buttons. But if you do not want to upgrade to that version of mac. You can use that app I linked you to. I like the app. It can start on boot up, no Dock icon present when it's running, use's little Mem/CPU. Take IT eZ people

Hi strangedaze, thanks 3 your answer. I already have it the 10.4.10, but I think that a I need more software to get available all the new features. Look in this web: http://www.apple.com/keyboard/

Boot your computer with the PS2 keyboard plugged in. Access the BIOS (F2, Delete - whatever it is). Go to integrated peripherals or something similar - there should be a field that says "Allow USB Keyboard Support -- Enable/Disable" something along those lines, I'm not sure what board you have so I'm unable to give a concise answer.

Good luck!

EDIT: Thanks for this strangedaze biggrin.gif

does the update break a hackintosh? I've just bought the keyboard for my hack but I'm reluctant to install the update until somebody has said it works.

anybody?

If you are referring to the Apple Keyboard 1.1 update, then yes it works fine on my Intel CPU-based Hacintosh.

You can feel pretty comfortable with most apple updates. The ones you definitely want to stay away from are the system updates (e.g. from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10). They will absolutely mess up your system. As always, it's best to back up a working system so it can easily be restored.
GingerPrince
thanks. I've not generally had any problems with any updates but I was sure I'd read somewhere that this 1.1 keyboard update breaks it. must have been wrong.

cheers.

Thanks for the hint but i don't think that is the problem, before getting the Apple Alu. keyboard I was using the old Apple Keyboard and I could access the Bios and everything. The new keyboard it looks like not operational until the boot is completed (OSX or Winxp).

The mobo is a BadAxe2

Any success with this problem? I have the same thing happening with my Badaxe2 board aswell.....I'd hate to have to plug in another keyboard each time I want to enter F2 or F10.....
strangedaze
the way i fixed the bios option on the badaxe2 was to plug the usb keyboard (mines the aluminum apple one) into the usb jack directly next to the ethernet port then either unplug your mouse or turn it upside down depending on your mouse (whatever works try both) . The problem I found was that the first device it would detect was the mouse rather then the keyboard and by time the keyboard came into play it was to late to access bios. Also try to switch the keyboard port with the mouse port maybe or any other usb devices you have plugged in. Let me know if this fixed your problems with that. ThX for reading

I'm trying to get the new Slim Keyboard working on my 10.4.8 Hackintosh without using any third party software.

I just found this 1.2 Update for OS X http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/key...reupdate12.html

Of course, it won't let me install the update since I don't have 10.4.10. Would one solution be to remove the version checking from the installation? and if so how would one go about doing that?

strangedaze
Yes. Download Pacifist. Drag the Keyboard install pkg onto Pacifist's icon. After install reboot. Insert your osx install disc. Open it with Pacifist again, then search for dock.app with pacifist search option . Then select dock.app and in the upper left corner of pacifist click the install button. There ya go.
d3p0
Did you use that method to get your keyboard working?
strangedaze
yeah that method works fine. If you want do that instead of the key meastro method
d3p0
Hey cool, it works!

Thanks.
d3p0
Update: It kinda works.. The dock no longer responds to right clicks and the dashboard has some interesting graphical errors. Any ideas?

Hi there I've tried your method, but without luck. I tried all the USB port, with non mouse etc. but none worked. Do you use the front and rear USB plug in the mobo? Because I do and it may be the cause.

Hi there,

Anyone fixed the problem accessing the Bios or Boot Menu with this keyboard and the Bad Axe 2?

I just updated the BIOS today with the latest available but still no luck...

Your Pacifist-methode works fine for me on JaS 10.4.8 (Asus P5b MoBo and Intel Q6600), but after installation and reboot, my Network was gone. But no Problem, I used Neo´s RTL1xxx_1.02.pkg again and everything looks good. No graphic-Probs in Dashboard or anything. GREAT!!! Thanks.
