I was having trouble with my builtin Broadcom BCM57XX nic not working - I set plug'n'play OS to no in my bios and all is well - posting from Safari on ASUS P4PE with 2.4 GHz P4 Northwood.

Now if I can just get 1280x1024 wokring I'll be happy.

That was driving me crazy till I read a post about it. Have you gotten sound to work?

No. This is a BIOS feature, so the OS (any OS) knows nothing about it.

Most notebooks have pretty stipped down, mostly useless BIOS setups. But you can try one of the tools that allow you to modify hidden BIOS settings from DOS/Windows.
