so in the process of trying to get a system running i had a whole hd off a real mac g4 full of work files and i accidently installed windows xp onto it, but the installation only completed like 30% of the way because of a un related error, so now im stuck.
it was originally a 90 gig hd on a mac and had 80 gigs of files.

about 50 gigs are important. only 10 gigs or so are real important.

is there a remote chance i can recover the files even tho the file system was changed during the windows installation? i didnt format the drive and wipe it. i did a quick install so im hoping the data is still there somewhere. but im use to recovering off ntfs file systems.

i found this http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
which ill try tomm. but id like any info cause this is a big mess up.

Hopefully the file structure is still intact. You should expect some data loss, you might also have to try a raw recovery. If the software doesn't work you should try taking it a data recovery pro. I've had good experiences with CBL.
