As many people consider buying a new MacBook Pro with GeForce 8600 graphic and new Santa Rosa intel chipset I started this thread to inform them, and me about the experiences with the new mbp. So if u have this new version pls post your experiences with it.

didn't AMD have a santa rosa chipset a while back? sorry, it just occured to me as i was reading this, but i swear i remember an AMD santa rosa

For AMD, "Santa Rosa" is codename for Socket F Opteron processors.

For Intel, "Santa Rosa" is not a chipset, it is codename for fourth generation Centrino platform, which Apple does not even use fully (uses Atheros WLAN instead of Intel).
