I have An 875P mobo with a P4 3.4 Prescott
And A 7600GT 256MB AGP running OSX4.8.
I finally have the OSX geforce driver "after over two months of hacking on AGPGart"
on a AGP excellerated PCI bus. thumbsup_anim.gif
I am very happy I got this working but the quality in games is on par with a Geforce2GTS
or an MX400? I am pretty shure the frame buffer is working because I can use a really high res with little or no speed change? It looks to me like Antialiasing and Anistropic filtering are not working at all.
As compared to running in windows its like comparing a VHS to a blueray. thumbsdown_anim.gif
The two games I like to play are Quake 3 and EnemyTeritory.
Any Game and or Nvidia tweeks and or tips that you know of please post.

I think this might be more of an AGP issue than nVidia issue. I have a PCIe 7600GT 256MB, and while I don't play any games at the moment, my boyfriend gets over 100fps in WoW on the same exact card.

I get pretty good speed 100 FPS+!
It is just that the quality is not nearly the same.
Can someone post some screens from OSX Quake3 or EnemyTerritory running on a pcie 7600?

Sorry. I guess I misunderstood you. I don't have either of those games to test with (or anything else other than Diablo II. lol)

If you look at the edges you can see the jaggies in the OSX screen shots
normally antiailiasing takes care of this as in the windows screens.
Also note the lack of texture detail.
Is there a way to set default opengl options like in windows?

I downloaded the Call of Duty 2 demo to test out my card. I know that OS X lets each program handle OpenGL settings rather than doing it for them. Do those games have settings in them for Anti-Aliasing? Call of Duty 2 had the option for 2x or 4x. This screenshot is with 4x

You got AGPGart working on Intel or what?
OMX-Knuckles
Try something newer like Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey or CoD2. Quake 3 isn't a very good benchmark anymore.

I have nearly the same speed in OSX as running in WindowsXP!
I got something working!
Take a look at http://x86dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=288.0

I guess the settings are indeed set from within the game!

the reason the game quality is different on pc and mac is because the pc games most likely natively use the Direc3D rendering system and the mac is using the OpenGL. The quality would be different and is evident if you play a game on a pc that supports both. Such as Counter Strike. Just try it out and see for yourself.

Found a few little tricks for Quake3
add this to the q3config.cfg file

seta r_nv_fsaa_samples "4"
seta r_nv_quincunx "1"

it seemed to work a little better
and Of course crankin up the res works also

That still doesn't look like there's any antialiasing there. It's just as jagged as before, just with smaller jaggies. lol

yea I noticed it a little in the Quake4 screens to.
Guess I will have to poke around the geforce.kext a little more.
