Same problem with NfS Most wanted - SLOOOW as hell, GTA San Andreas crashes after main menu, trying to load a game..

G-Force, I ran GTA SA and NfS MW on bootcamp with Vista (!!!) and they run just fine, so i sitll thinki it's not hardware problem, but a software one...

I am working on getting half life 2 going, but I keep recieving the error Unable to load C:\steamapps\islanderfan@msn.com\half-life 2\bin\filesystem_steam.dll looks like there are some issues with it still trying to call steam, i have tried just getting steam going and have had no luck

But does this only work with intel macs? My dad just got a g5 Imac and he loves racing games.

Ok, I tested NFS Carbon on my MacBook, and as soon as the movies are finished, this game gets really slow too. So, you're not the only one.

GMA is a very slow card.
You need an ATI or an nVidia card for the game to run smoothly.
If you installed windows on your macs you would saw
that works slow and in there, because of the video card

GMA is not a card. it's a chip, intergrated chip. Just to clear it up.

Steam is built as an application, Cider is a game loader. You can't run any apps with it. I tried to run Train Simulator on it but it runs a little app first (license accept) so the game won't start. Use CrossOver to use Steam.

we all know that crossover sucks , hopefully once they release gametap for mac we can use the cider in that to lunch steam because gametap is an application

Crossover doesnt suck, it can run Half Life at almost native speeds.

In comparison to Cider it sucks game wise in my opinion, HL2 runs decent especially on my new MBP but still I would like to see this working in cider.Currently I am working on NHL2007 anyone try this game yet?

Do you guys know about GameTap? It seems it also uses Cider. Looks good. Just have a look on their site and tell me what you think about it.

NHL 2007 launches shows the loading screen then exits I will try some other tests with it

They run fine even under Vista.... I was hoping to be even better under OS X

I can't get OutRun2006 to start. The screen goes black, then quits back to desktop. I'm using the X3 Cider. Anybody know how to get this working please?

Also has anybody tried FlatOut2? It's a Cedega supported game but I cannot get it working under Cider

It will be fine for 2D applications. But if you try to play any 3D games(i mean quite recent games, not WC3 cos' even Pentium3 system can run ), you will encounter the lagging issue, unless you lower down the resolution.

I try Need For Speed Most Wanted: Works, but in Quick Race mode after the race, it crashes. (Sometimes crash in Normal game mode too)

It seems that most things I try give me a mouse at first then a blank screen or it will just quit out, i need to figure out what the issue with FEAR is, I need to do some troubleshooting. FEAR gives me a mouse and a blank screen then the mouse goes away, but I can't even exit out of the blank screen I have to shut the computer off .

Far Cry Mouse fix:
Open system.cfg, you can find 2 files one is in Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Far Cry/ and the other in /Bin32/

Open them with TextEdit
Find and change i_direct_input = "1" to i_direct_input = "0" in each file
Save
Close
Start
Play



PS: I found a little bug: You can not use mouse wheel to change weapon -> the game will freez / crash. (use your keyboard)

hi guys, ive been following this thread for a while, and trying a few Ciderisations of my own, but while im usually pretty good at this kind of thing, i cant seem to get my head around this one in particular.

the two games ive tried (cos theyre what ive got/am playing in boot camp at the mo) are Supreme Commander and FEAR. both of which are patched to the latest, and as such dont need a no-CD patch... has anyone got these two working yet? all i get (at best) was a bouncing of the app in the dock.

any ideas?

i get the same thing with Supreme Commander, BTW. just ignore the last line about starting the debugger.
ive also noticed that with games that actually work, you get the exact same entry in the console, followed by:

I have managed to get test drive unlimited partially working with the myst online cider version, which is the only version other than the gametap one that worked with it. I had to delete the startup movies to get to the main menu, and then I was presented with a serial number request. At this point I get stuck as the mouse buttons do not work so I can not click ok, and pressing enter freezes the cursor in place and disables the keyboard (while animations still continue in the background). With Oblivion, I can play the game perfectly except that the cursor is constantly centering like several others have found, and also the character models are completely invisible except for teeth, eyes, hair and in some cases helmets, shields and swords. I tried test drive in the cider versions for myst online, x3, hommv & gametap and got nowhere with the x3 and hommv versions. I also tried combining files from the different cider packages but that was little help. With oblivion I have tried all the versions plus combined versions and that was also no help. I have experimented in both games with the config settings such as which system to emulate, etc, but so far I have not been able to make any difference.
For those of you wondering, the gametap package doesn't seem to provide any support for non-fullscreen windows.
Also, I have tried MDK2, but all it does is open the application, then stay open with no finder windows, no sound, no fullscreen, just the 'cider' application menu and the edit menu beside it. I have to force quit it to get out of it but it does not seem frozen as I can navigate its 2 menu bar menus (cider&edit) perfectly. Any help would be much appreciated.

I got this same problem with all titles i tried to ciderize ..
I'm using X3 wrapper with following titles:

The Simpsons Hit & Run (works fine on paralles and vmware)
Hospital Tycoon (new game, but works well even on old computers)

the error i got is:

Grrrrr, this mouse Centering issue is really starting to get to me. I've done everything I could think of but still, Oblivion : Elder Scroll and GTA:SA have the exact same problem....Anyone getting close or have any other ideas that might work?

Someone just uplaoded the GTA: Vice City Cider port for intel macs.
Works fine for me with Classic Controls. Theres no need in using the mouse.

Oops sorry, but I didn't receive any PM from you. Well, as I said, install Fifa 07 through Windows (boot into XP/Vista or use Parallels/VMware, as you wish) to install it, and you are done Just run directly the exe from crossover in "Run Command" (don't do file/open).

Well I tried the demo and it worked, so i'm pretty sure retail version works fine too.

Didnt work, just get the message "The game was not properly installed". But, thanks for your help anyways.

There is a way : i'm not going to go into details, because if you don't know what you are doing, then don't do this : in Windows, check for any EA keys in REGEDIT (Local Machine/Software AND/OR Current_User/Software ONLY), export them and import them into Crossover (to access the crossover registry, type regedit in "run command"

I got Battlefield 2 to run using the X3 cider on a 15" MacBook Pro. Works exceptionally well, with the aforementioned glitch of no ground texture. Everything else however looks really nice, and it runs as fast for me as it did in boot camp. Well enough to blow some tanks up anyway.
