I want to build my first OSx86 PC. I'm going to order these today if people thinks it's a good way to go.

-Motherboard: GIGABYTE|GA-965P-DS3 V1.3 R - Retail Price=$99.99

Looks like it. I ran 10.4.6 very well on a lot less, and on an AMD CPU. I've not had a lot of experience with osx86 but I can assume Intel would definitely be the way to go.

I have since, though, ditched it and just bought a real mac. tongue.gif

Everything here looks great except for the motherboard. Currently, 965 series motherboards don't have very good support with OS X. There maybe some support for it when Apple start to use it on the Macs. Right now, there are some patches to allow it run properly but it's still unstable. I recommend that you choose 945 or the more expensive 975.

Oh yeah.... and welcome to the community.

Thx for welcoming me. I'm excited to be part of this group. I already ordered the motherboard knowing that it took some work. Maybe I should have went for the 975... oh well.

Thx both of you for you help.

If you want my personal opinion, I would pick up the new E6420 processor released recently. It's only $1 more than the E6400 and it gives you the full 4MB of cache the E6600 offers. Cache isn't everything, but I've heard it can make a somewhat significant performance boost if you have it.

I agree, the 6420 is the way to go if your going to spend that much on a proc. Cache doesn't mean as much on a AMD but Intels seem to perform better with more.
