Hey everyone, I have a sort of stupid question, but Im going to ask anyway as I have no clue what I may be doing .

I recently took over my parents old Gateway midtower that has a Pentium 4 motherboard w/ integrated graphics etc. On the board there is a 4x AGP slot, and after searching, one of the newest cards that still had 4x AGP connection was a nVidia Geforce4 Ti 4600, which I bought one on eBay. The problem is, for some reason Gateway put the motherboard on the opposite side of the tower than where it should be, so what happens is that the PCI cards I added had to be put in upside down, granted it shouldnt matter, but what Im concerned about is that the GeForce card will have to be put in upside down as well so it will correctly fit into the AGP slot and the case. Will this cause the card to fail as the fan is upside down etc?

Yes, you will have a problem. If you leave the graphics card in the way you mentioned, upside down, you will not so much have a problem with a video card that will fail but all the images on your monitor will be upside down. I suggest flipping your monitor as well so everything will be right side up.

Boris, you know that's not true: putting a monitor upside down will make the picture fall out.

Nope you should not have any problems. The fan will work perfectly fine. Though this card will not work in OSX. Only Geforce 4 AGP 8X cards work in OSX.

For OSX get a 7600GS or ATI. Check the Wiki for details.

Hey thanks for the responses guys. I just wasn't sure if the fan would fall off or not work or something like that . As for OSX86, I wasnt planning on putting it on this machine as I already have a Macbook Pro. Though it would be ironic, OS X as the main system on a Gateway, and Windows on the Macbook Pro .

I just realized, but all Graphics cards I have ever seen, have the fan facing towards the base of the case, away from the CPU.

You know, it's true!! I hung a picture on my wall of this scenic lake. It must not have been totally level because when I came home from holiday, I saw that the lake was now empty and there was a pool of water on the floor beneath the photo.
