i have a canon SD600 and it was in my pocket and my dumb father cant tell theres a huge bump in the pocket or that is weighs more than shorts normally do when he picked it off my floor (i leave clothes there for a reason you know)

anyway my camera went through the wash - the battery works (i put it in the charger and it charged) but i cant get the camera to turn on - i dont know if the sd would work bc i dont have a card slot

i tried setting it up next to a blow drier for abot 2 hours - it appears to ahve dried out.... the veiwfinder isnt blurry anymore but it still wont turn on (and still smells like washing machine)

anyone have any ideas what to do

EDIT: i put the blow dryer on hot for a little while and the top light turned on for a minute.... the display didnt do anything but the lense seemed to work....

Open it up completely and let it lay to dry for about a week. I sent my nano through the wash, and it didnt work any more. Then i opened it and let it dry for almost a week and viola. Same goes for my sega genesis.

thanx - gotta find the right screw driver somewhere around the house

The LCD is probably dead. But it may work with a lot of heating. Otherwise, the camera may work fine.

If it's completely dried out and it still doesn't work then you're going to need a new camera or send it in to get fixed. As stated above, it might just be the LCD that's broken.

BTW, "dumb father"? Who was the one who left the camera in the pocket? Hmm

Yes, it IS because you are a slob, a lazy, irresponsible slob, a lazy, irresponsible slob who does not have the balls to be accountable for your own mistakes.

When I was a kid and lost or broke a toy, my dad would say it was my fault because if I really cared about the toy, then I would not have broke it or lost it; I would have taken better care of it. Lesson learned.

Furthermore, don't be a lazy ass slob and do your own laundry. Does your dad wipe your ass for you as well? He probably reads your school papers because you blame the teachers for your poor grades.

Regarding your camera; it is a goner. Water and electronics are not a happy marriage. If the innards were not physically damaged, then most likely somewhere you have corrosion and thus the electronics are fried.

And now, I am going to send my Hackintosh through the wash. I want it nice, shiny smelling like new. Thanks GBK.Xscape. Maybe I will add some extra bleach to get nice crisp whites on my screen.

Well, ive had a whole pitcher of beer spilled on my laptop, and it immediatly went fizzzzzzz......dead.

Opened it up as best as possible and let it dry for about a week, tried booting it with my fingers crossed and it worked perfectly!!!! appart from a slighly sticky keyboard, but can't complain at all. Just try to open it up as best you can and let it dry.....and BE PATIENT...dont keep trying it every 2 hours, it causes more risk. And if you do try to get it fixed under warranty, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT TELL THEM IT WAS WATER DAMAGE.......thats instant "sorry, cant help you". Just say it died randomly one day and see if they can fix it. Its worth a shot.
