Ok here's a question. I would like to make my AppleTV share it's internet connection from wireless to the wired jack. Basically i have other devices like tivo and a xbox 360. And i really don't feel like running cables to the hub in my entertainment center from my office. So is there a simple solution to have the appletv share it's internet connection to the hub without major hacks?

I'm trying to do something like this:
CODE
                    [ Internet ]
                           |
            [ Airport Base Station ]
                           |
                 |---------------|
         [ Mac Pro ]        [ AppleTV ]
                                 |
                              [ Hub ]
                                 |
                        |---------------|
                   [ Tivo ]          [ Xbox ]

not sure exactly how you would do this, but i'm sure it's possible. I suggest asking around on IRC or something...

i know there is a way to do it but you have to be able to edit the system prefrences on the appletv

i've done it from a PC to a Mac but never from Mac to PC or other device, this is a good idea though. Im almost 99% sure its possible but im not sure. Maybe do some testing on your mac pro and see if you can share the internet connection with the 10/100/1000 ethernet and connect it to another computer and see if it works...that would be the first step

i figured it out....

sort of if you can get to the system prefrences its there.... heres a screenshot

why don't you use the mac pro to share?

Ok, I enabled Internet Sharing from System Preferences, but stills a problem.
This is my network
CODE

sat box
|
| Wired Lan - 192.168.1.x
|
Apple TV
|
| Wlan - 192.168.0.x
|
router

If I plug the ethernet cable, AppleTV disconnetcs from Airport, and uses only Wired Lan, changing ip address.
I changed the order of the interfaces, in System Preferences, setting the Airport as first interface, but nothing.

If I set the priority, when I have the cable disconnected, and only after this, I plug-in the cable, then the trick works. But if reboot AppleTV with plugged-in cable, then Airport is disconnected.

Any ideas ?

Sorry aole, I don't know how to fix your problem but I'm also having a problem with internet sharing.

I recently reinstalled 10.4.9 after installing 10.4.9 through software update stupidly without checking the forums beforehand. Theres no fix for the cisco wireless card i have on my ibm laptop and I knew that would happen but I need to route the internet to it and can't run an ethernet cable directly from the router. I can however run one from a hub which is connected with an ethernet cable to my wireless enabled powermac. I tried everything that I can think of with the internet sharing and network functions within system preferences but my laptop still won't get internet. In network diagnostics I've managed to get green lights on built-in ethernet, network settings, and ISP goes in and out but I have red lights on Internet and Server. If anyone has a similar setup that's working or if anyone knows how I can fix my problem, please help me out. Thanks.

Edit: Eek! Sorry, I didn't realize this was the AppleTV Forum.

the apple tv kernel only allows one interface enabled at a time. I don't know how to get around this.
