I ran across this today, while I was trying to get Tiger on my clamshell.

I hope this helps. You have to have the CDs if you have the older 24x cd-rom drive like I do.

I would suggest using linux to modify the CD.
dd if=/dev/hdc of=Tiger.iso
map a drive the linux box with samba, mount the ISO with toast, and pico /Volumes/Mac OS Tiger Install/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg/Contents/OSInstall.dist

modify it.
save it.
Unmount.
Copy ISO to your machine, then burn it.

Works.

This is how I installed Tiger on my old Tangerine iBook and an old G3 iMac Lime. I had no problems other than getting my hands on the Tiger CDs vice the DVD. Once I had the CDs all was good.
