yep i'm having the same problem with my mouse when I exit apple tv, it's like a row of 10 different cursors and i don't know which is the real one.
Fixed. Just modify the resolution.txt in the Closer app to your right resolution and it should fix it.

You don't need to install the whole os from appleTV you can install the regular OSX and move certain files to make it work on a genuine mac hardware.
Infact that's how most people's been running it.
Tutorials should be easy to find in this forum.

thats if you want to undo mach_kernel.prelink, splice it into 100 pieces then recompile it again just for your machine.

@artistanMaybe I'm a little short on understanding , but I want to do better.
I am not a genius on using the hexeditor, but I found the line where there's dev/disk0s4.
The problem is (mine indeed) I got the partition on first one so I have to change it with dev/disk0s1.disk0s1 or /dev/rdisk0s1.rdisk0s1?
Thanks for efforts indeed!

to change the disk/slice for the Media folder, all you have to do is overwrite disk0s4 with disk0s1.
There is two spot around same area that says disk0s4. You should not endup with disk0s4.disk0s1, just plain disk0s1

as long as your install works fine (audio, gfx and everything else) aTV should work fine since its just an app

Front Row 2.0 is working , I used a second monitor to activate the code with iTunes , later I discovered we could use the tip of changing resolution before start FR getting the use of desktop back , but obvoiusly , as pointed by Diabolik ,I can't interact with keyboard or mouse with the application...have to wait..

as i was saying to Diabolik just yesterday, the key would be to get a regular USB IR dongle recognised by the OS as the apple-supplied one. that way the apple remote would 'just work'.
any ideas how to start? i thought maybe a natit-style injection into the ioreg, but im not sure USB is matched the same way as PCI....

I was searching for information on Appleīs original Infrared Module and it seems to be USB based, although itīs cable is not a standard one. So, I guess the key will be to get Appleīs original IR Module, modify itīs cable to a normal USB and theoretically it will be detected automatically as Appleīs native. I am trying to get the IR module and it seems that Apple Service will be able to help. To move on I need somebody with the original Mac Mini willing to help (no case dessasembly required, just information).

Found Appleīs IR Module. The price here is the same, but in Euros.
I have Manta TR1 reciever from TwistedMellon. Changing Vendor and Product ID in AppleIRController.kext does not give a satisfactory result - the kext is loaded, but with errors:
Dependency Errors:

com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found

no because the way it is shipped, appleTV has no programs needing sse3, hence not putting it in the kernel.
its a slimmed down custom install just tailored for that machine.

I got the image loaded and working on my MB, but I want to get aTV working on my hackintosh. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to use aTV like a Front Row that I will hook up to my TV. I am using DsurioN's method, replacing the existing Front Row with the patched files. This method worked fine on my MB, but when I try to run the aTV on my hackintosh, the app looks like it's about to launch then quickly closes without any error messages or anything. Should I look at giving aTV it's own partition on my hackintosh and try booting it that way?

Thanks for the info, I'll reinstall and repair permissions. As far as your problem with being able to control aTV, over at hackint0sh they've released a IR emulator. I haven't installed it myself, but everyone is saying it works well. The topic is under Apple TV and it's called Apple IR Emulator. Hopefully that will work for you.
EDIT: No luck on the repairing the permissions. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue...
I was able to get aTV working, and I can control it with the IRKeyboardEmu.kext from hackint0sh.org, but the app doesn't always launch. Sometimes I have to launch it 5 or 6 times before it actually starts working. Most of the time, I will just get the intro movie, then the app crashes and I have to relaunch. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any advice...
Also, I've applied the Media folder hack, but I've noticed my HD changes from disk0s1 to disk1s1 from time to time, anyone know what the deal is with that? Again, thanks in advance...

Still looking for a good method to control the interface via the Apple Remote. The IR Keyboard Emu seems a bit klugey--it controls every OS X app that is behind the AppleTV interface once ATV is started. Guess I need to play with that some more...
Also has anyone been able to get a full screen view of the ATV/backrow interface? I have an ATV screen that takes up about 2/3 of my 1366 x 768 HDTV monitor...
