Full Version: NSURLErrorDomain:-1005

Hi,
Yesterday updated my iMac, then found that some of web sites does not accessable any more.
I keep receiving "NSURLErrorDomain:-1005" error using Safari.
Installed FireFox - same story.
Read somwhere it might be Java problem.
Installed lynx (console browser) - no joy.
Can not access some famous sites (www.divx.com, www.skype.com), so sites are alive and works.
I use BootCamp and my secondary OS - Windows XP x64.
When I boot on Windows XP on SAME machine - everyting works fine, so it is deffinitely something with Mac OS X.

Was googling for a while, lot of peoples were having similar problem, but theirs solution does not work for me :-(

Maybe anyone managed to solve that problem?

Safari does that some often, even on my Powerbook, but whe it happens I switch to Firefox, firefox never show me that.

I tried every browser possible - same results :-(

To get more obvious results I tried curl:

curl www.divx.com -o /dev/null gives me following error:
arts-computer:~ art$ curl www.divx.com -o /dev/null

curl: (52) Empty reply from server

Every another site gives normal responses.
arts-computer:~ art$ curl www.google.com -o /dev/null

So I assume it is not browser problem - it is Mac OS X.

Just quick reminder, on same iMac Windows Vista installed using BootCamp.
When I reboot to Vista - everything works fine!
So it is not firewall, DSL or any similar reasons - it is something within Mac OS X 10.4.?

Any suggestions, ideas will be much appreciated ....

Well, sounds plausable that your networking stack could have become corrupted or some permissions have been messed up.

Have you tried doing a repair disk through Disk Utility lately?

If that comes back as being perfect, I would try creating a new account on OS X keeping everything else the same to see if it still happens. If it does, then pull out your OS X DVD and do an archive & install so you keep all of your programs, documents and the like.
