Full Version: Tiger Server can't see AirPort Card...

I found the tutorial on installing the Server Tools into an existing installation of Tiger, but it seemed to slow some things down a bit. So I decided to burn the 10.4.7 Server ISO (acquired completely legally, of course... pirate2.gif) to a DVD and do a fresh Server installation.

One problem. It can't see my MacBook Pro's AirPort card. At all. I first realized this when I finished installing the OS, but I also discovered that the Network Utility on the Server install disc can't see it either.

However, the version of Tiger (standard, client, whatever) which came with my system can see and use the card with no issues. And if I install Tiger client and then run MacOSServerInstall.mpkg to upgrade my Tiger client to Tiger Server, it retains its ability to use my AirPort card.

So what would be causing a clean install of only Server, as well as the Server install disc, to be unable to detect my AirPort card? I worked around the problem by doing the client-to-server upgrade with the aforementioned mpkg, but this is still nagging at me. I can't figure out why it would have happened.

Any insights?

hey there

i just had exactly the same problem and there was nothing online to help....but i have fixed the problem and thought it only right that i spread the word.

all i did was connect via ethernet to my router, which worryingly took a few attempts to work, and then i updated the server software from 10.4.7 to 10.4.9, and then downloaded the most recent airport extreme update from apple's site. i reset the PRAM for good measure, and upon reboot the macbook, as a server, found the airport card.

looks like it just needed updates...
