But i have some problem to start OSX86 Kalyway 10.4.10 sse2 in my IBM Think pad R50
Centrino M1.5 with ATI 9000 (4c66) and AGP 82855
I have tried wit Callisto 08 and AGP 2.1 but I have a screenproblem.
when it startd will appear small orizontal white lines.
AGP Nonloaded and Callisto load ATI8500 .
Some one are able to help me ?

you should try callisto b6 and the agpgart 2.4.3 in post #249. with those u should be able to change resolutions but no QE/CI ATM...
or u should try to remove callisto and use only agpgart 2.4.3 with ATIRadeon8500.kext...

In Kalyway 10.40.10 i have installed
AGPGart 2.2
Calisto 03Fixed
Configured CallistoHal with the value 4c66
Configured ATIRadeon.8500 with CallistoFB

When rm'ing the kext again I migh have done a mistake - whatever, I cannot boot to the desktop anymore. It hangs at the "starting up" window with the blue status bar (goes till the end slowly, but nothing happens). Even is save mode...
Nevertheless I managed to extract the txts with the HFS-Explorer - great program!
So you'll find them attached. But I guess I have to reinstall OSX before I can continue testing...*sigh*

Very glad to see a new tester with the so interesting chip.
I am using Callisto003fixed as all other Radeon9000 users. And you need patched Radeon8500. Default one is not working for 5835 or 5834.
Can you test and report?

i see on your gl extension it seems to have a drive loaded.... do u want help testing, since we have the same devid??

It is preliminary rezult. I have OpenGL loaded but it crashes and as you see I have OpenGL memory only 3Mb while in XP I have 32+54MB.
I need testing with another kind of 9000/9100/9200 to understand what is wrong. With 5835 I can test by myself. But I get only reports "Not working..." and no information.
Can u provide me the files u r using??? my 9100 is 128mb shared. maybe i can get more lucky or another result to help u.

I am using ATIRadeon8500*.* files v1.4.40 from 10.4.8, they works in any system version. But the main driver needs to be patched. I uploaded it here

The picture above I can get only with 16Mb shared memory. Or with 32Mb but with little cracking driver ATISlice.kext. It is injector like natit but with my additional settings.
It is useful to set correct Video Memory Size, name of the card and display type.
You can also set any value such as

You are right about the combinations...so from what I see just Callisto is missing, I will integrate it. And try the new kext...

I don't see any problem with your hardware in your reports. Tell me as much as possible about different attempts if you want I help you.
About Callisto... it is not useful for me. I work with fixed resolution. I am looking for OpenGL.
If you found any difference with and without Callisto - say me. But don't repeat about CallistoFB into GA.plugin. I know.

The drivers work only in software accel mode. Yes it can display screensaver at 30fps, but nothing more. This card was not even supported by ATI on linux (it is the only one that was unsuported). Just forget about a driver, it will not happen. The only way is to port the whole mesa to OSX interface and i think it is not even possible, so just foget about it.

My ATI is a Gecube 9250 PCI with 128Mb. The graphic chip is RV280. After a research on the net (I don't have the card currently plugged), the device ID should be 5960. My computer is a hackintosh, pentium D (sse3 support) with intel i915 chipset (no AGP support). Tell me if I can help.
About pixel shaders, I don't know if tiger needs 2.0, but I know QE is supported since geforce 2 (that is far older than any 9000 series ATI), so maybe that can give you some clues.

I've found out this old link when I tried to install Linux to my laptop years ago (before knowing Ubuntu)
This guy was succes to have 3D and openGL enable in his laptop and of course he doesnt use the defectif ATI driver

What is happen with your Radeon? Is it work or no?
5960 is directly supported by 8500 driver, as a 4c66. So I dunno what is the problem. You have PCI - you need no AGP.
Why it is PCI? May be it is MAC version?
I know that MacMini with Radeon 9200 has QE/CI. Why not hackintosh?

Yes, GA.plugin must switch on hardwareOpenGL. Did you use AGPGart? What is your memory size and VideoMemory? If you see glview crashes so look for crash.log. May be you find a reason.
Yes, OpenGL Extension Viewer v2.3 and more crashes. I have v2.28 that works.
About GA.plugin. Change string IONDRVFramebuffer to IOFramebuffer.

You can't change video memory because you have RAM>512.
System hangs if you try scroll text, isn't it? As I have the same.
Try to change GART* values to any other. May be you would be more successful then I am.
Instead of glviewer try other program:

I'm a new member to these forums but have been following this thread closely. I have a Mobility Radeon 9000 with 32MB RAM in a Dell Latitude D600 and am using JaS 10.4.6. The configuration that works for me is without AGPGart. The video hardware info program shows that hardware OpenGL is on but whenever I try and use that hardware OpenGL (eg Flurry or iTunes visuals) the app just crashes but otherwise everything is fine. I'm not sure how helpful this is but if you have any suggestions for me to help I'm willing. AGPGart would only load and make the graphics card show as AGP if all the ATIRadeon8500* kexts were gone.

I'm a new member to these forums but have been following this thread closely. I have a Mobility Radeon 9000 with 32MB RAM in a Dell Latitude D600 and am using JaS 10.4.6. The configuration that works for me is without AGPGart. The video hardware info program shows that hardware OpenGL is on but whenever I try and use that hardware OpenGL (eg Flurry or iTunes visuals) the app just crashes but otherwise everything is fine. Yes sorry I forgot to mention that my dev id was 4c66, its on an AGP 4x bus and I'll upload ioreg and dmesg soon.
