what does sample board exactly mean? Does it mean that you need a P5B-E?
Maybe i can continue writing the driver... I've a P5B-E and I've xCode... (but I've never written a kext or any other driver before)

EDIT: There's a question left... Is this a modified version of the linux-driver or is it completely new source? I had a look at the source of the linux driver too... the only thing we have to to is to find a replacement for e.g the "linux/types.h" or the "linux/pci.h" (will google for these replacement-headers)

Только если кто-то добъет. Тот парниша раньше писавший, врядли это сделает. У меня нет времени, желания, и железа, причем железо врядли появится, с учетом того, что этот чип перестали куда-либо ставить.

Does the driver work now? I want to test the driver and I have:

Asus P5L 1394
(Intel 945P+ICH7)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.40 GHz)
4 GB of RAM (4 x 1 GB 667 MHz)
Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet (doesn't work)
Realtek ALC883 (Sound) (now works, cause I fixed it)
nVidia 8800GTS (PCI Express 16x), 320 MB

other hardware: i use a Trust bluetooth USB adapter (it works fine with OSx86) and a SMCWUSBT-G Wireless USB Adapter with chipset Atheros (it doesn't work)

They don't have driver even for FreeBSD. I've sent a request for them, and said that I can write driver for free for OS X and FreeBSD, but nothing happens.- Buy motherboard with this chip, but I'm not so rich to buy whole motherboard only to write driver for LAN. And too bad, that nobody here in Kiev can't give me this MoBo for the some time He-he, well it was an answer to another question in Russian. I don't need whole MoBo, just a PCI-E board, but I know, that officially, there are no exists such card, except sample boards for internal use.

Yes driver is no longer under development from Feb 2007, there are a lot who want to use, but almost nobody, who want something to do.

I try the last version driver by setting static IP
speed settings are: 10/100, FD/HD, 1000/FD and auto.

here the output from JaS 10.4.8 by useing ASUS P5L-MX
it'll ping responses was "no route to host" and "host is down"
but have good reply for pinging the ip of itself

why dont you guys just get a realtek 8139 card for 2$ ??? i dont get THAT

for example, i'm using pci sound and sky cards. present-day boards has 2/3 pci slots and in asus case it is possible to use only 2 of them. so i need to use onboard lan or use add-on card instead of one of my cards.

Думается, найдутся желаюющие потратить обозначенные товарищем выще 2 бакса на разработку драйвера к существующей сетевухе, чем новую покупать  Я, собсно, в первых рядах взнос сделаю, если соберёмся.....

Боюсь я, когда завершится эта акция, все успеют сменить MoBo

На счёт акции... не думаю, что всё так затянется, я, к примеру, только второй день как на p5k перелез, и переползать куда-нить ещё не планируется =). Самые дешёвые платы, которые удалось отыскать P5B-MX и P5L 1394. В санрайзе они 71,5 и 75,5 соответственно стоят, дешевле ничего вроде не находится. асусь, конечно, жжёт ставить такую экзотику при наличии копеечных реалтеков =(.

Возможно и хорош, вам виднее , но у меня относительно attansic l2 не очень позитивное мнение имеется, и связано оно с тем, что из-за них одно время бился головой об стенку пытаясь победить софтовые (как тогда казалось) глюки, в итоге, решил поставить дискретную сетевуху и проблемы исчезли. Пришлось покупать сетевухи всем компам....
Заняться чем? Поиском наиболее демократичной мамки =)? Или продолжением начатого дела по нписанию драйвера? Я бы с радостью, только вот знаний и фантазии в этом направлении вряд ли хватит =(.

Угу, или организацией акции )) Самое смешное, что чип-то хороший, но парни из Attansic вовсе не заинтерисованы, в его нормальной поддержке. Даже во FreeBSD он не работает. Я не исключаю того, что вскоре выйдут его новые модификации, но уже от Atheros, которые купили Attansic. Кстати у нас почему-то P5K или P5B-E днем с огнем не сыщешь

Надо как-то собираться с мыслями и финансами, если до 3-го октября успеть, то я могу передать мамку в киев, у меня там сестра живёт, 3-го она ко мне приезжает и в этот же день обратно едет. Вобщем, завтра со свежимим силами попробую сформулировать задачу и подумать как добиться результататов в обозначеннный срок =)
