Besides having to eject the disk by dragging the disk to the Trash or click the eject button on the screen or hit F12.
Is there a way to eject the disk just by pressing the eject button on my dvd drive ? it seems no function for mac at all.....

the eject button works only when no disk is inserted, the drive is lock with a media in it.

I think you could do it by disableing the automount feature for the drive in question. You would have to manually mount your DVD every time a disc is inserted though.

Not being able to use the button is actually a good thing. It prevents you from removing a device the system may be still accessing.

If you are interested, google around for "disable automount mac osx". You will have to modify your system files for that.

you should have to find something that "unmounts" the cdrom when you press the button

About mounting:

Before a drive (HDD, CD-Rom, etc) can be accessed by the Mac OS (like in linux and unix) it must be "mounted". That means that the OS designates a specific path in the system's file structure to make that drive accessible. This is done completely automatically by Mac OS X so the user doesn't have to worry about it. The only thing you see is the HDD or CD/DVD-Rom picture appear on your desktop. If you open a terminal console you can look into the directory called /Volumes. You will notice that there is a folder for each mounted device there with an appropiate name (ie. "Macintosh HD" for your boot partition and "MusicCD" if you inserted a disk with that label). If you remove the disc, the folder will disappear.

Windows does something similar only that it designates a specific letter for each drive. Like "C" for your boot partition and "D" for your CD-Rom. Every time you insert a disc in windows you will access it through the designated drive letter. The letter remains there even if the disc is not present.

Now, if you wish to override this so-called "automount" feature in MacOSX, you can do so. Now OSX will ignore the disc whenever it is inserted so you can mount it whenever you feel it's necessary. This of course, would be too much of a hassle, since you only want to get the system to spit out the disc when you press the button. lord_muad_dib is right when he says you could find something that "unmounts" the drive for you when you press the button. So what you would need is something that links the action of "pressing the button" with the unmount command.

I hope this information is useful to you in any way and I encourage you to find out how! Mac OSX is a wonderful system with lots of functionality that is not necessarily accessible through the GUI. There are some excellent tutorials and guides out there about how to tweak the systems inner plumbings.
