has anyone here built their own g4? i realised that there are places that sell g4 logic boards, and places that sell g4 cpus. would you think that a dual g4 would outpreform a 1.66 ghz core 2 duo? i am considering building a g4 instead of a new intel

I have built a few frankenmac G4's and under no circumstances would it be faster.

i think you're insane to even bother, but good luck.

I think it would be fascinating, but its a completely different project to a hackintosh, its mainly Apple hardware thats used. Maybe us students have too much time on our hands...

g4s really arent that fast... the only nice thing about them is altivec but thats old news. they're on a slow bus, have agp, slow ram and the CPU itself is very slow. even a quad g4 wouldnt come close to a single core duo.
