Interestingly is the x700 patch suppose to be a Linux Executable (Intel) file?

Everytime I used the patch, I am unable to boot up since callisto goes haywire.com wink.gif

Is there if I were to be finding my dot clock of 71000 what hex should i search under the original callisto file?
idle
Ahh fixed, problem was not using 10.4.5 ati drivers, thought I could pull it off the ones that came with 10.4.9 uphuck.

But QE/CI still not working, need to look through the steps involved in activating QE/CI again -.-"

anyone here with an acer aspire 5020 or 5024 and got the x700 5653 to work? If so can you please pm me and sent your adjusted callisto file? I have dotclock 71250 but i cant get it to work with that hexediting.. only blank screens here.

Hope someone can help me with this

-->UPDATE<--

Finally figured it out.... at dotclock 71500 mine was working perfect... it took about an hour to get it all right but now.....WOOEEHAAAAA

Ovof thank you, and all the others helped with this

QE/CI/Callisto fixed by OVOF howto for ATI Mobility Radeon x700 (Device ID 5652 or 5653) and Mac OS X 10.4.6 JaS

1. Download Intel 10.4.5 Update
2. Download Pacifist demo (via google)
3. Extract all ATI*.kexts and OpenGL.framework from update using Pacifist.
4. Copy ATI*.kexts to /System/Library/Extensions
5. Delete /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework
6. Copy OpenGL.framework to /System/Library/Frameworks/
7. Install Koverg - Callisto - Framebuffer All-in-one
sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 #5652 is my device ID
sudo ./doe.sh cal6 0x0x0 1 1
8. Repair ATIRadeon9700.kext (because sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 add only 0x56 instead of 0x56521002) #5652 is my device ID
8. Download Callisto 006 fixed by OVOF and unpack it to your Desktop
9. sudo cp -R /Users/<YOUR NAME>/Desktop/Callisto /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto.kext/Contents/MacOS
10. Repair disk permissions with Disk Utility
11. Restart

hello,
i have next the tutorial of georRG77,but my screen is 1024 and i don't change, my pc is a asus a6va with a x700 mobility.
and in the tuto there is "repair atiradeon9700.kext, hown it is?
thank you

sorry for my english.
-aKy-
to repair ATIRadeon9700.kext:

Open Terminal,

type: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeon9700.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOPCIMatch, there are serveral Dev-ids and if you applied thr Koverg - Callisto - Framebuffer Script correctly you should find 0x56 in the lines of Dev-ID's. Repair means to make that dev-id correct: for you this would be then: 0x56531002

Ctrl + O
Enter
Ctrl + X

Now the kext has been repaired.

I finally managed to get QE and CE supported with 1024x768 on my Satellite Pro Toshiba,
using Koverg v.2 patch on 10.4.5 Ati kexts on a 10.4.10 MacOSX install
(Apr Universal kernel, with no extra ATI driver).

Then i tried all Callistos but only 006 worked for me, with Ovof's patch.
I can change to 1280x800 but with flickering.
I tried 71250 dot clock (52 16 01 00 at 4900) but flickers again.
Can anyone, please help me to find the right dot clock value?
Thanks to Georg, Ovof, Phoenix, Kovpas, Largo for their valuable help.
alex65
After three months and a lot of reading, i finally made it work with kexts from 10.4.5, Callisto 6, Ovof's file and 71510 dot clock (57 16 01 00).
Now with 1280x800 and QE, CI supported i installed iLife08, working nice.
Mouse tearing is next.

Hi all
I have Notebook Asus A6qVa with x700 Radeon and JaS 10.4.8, installed on it. During instalation, i have unchecked the option "Install ATI driver" (according to the guide, that i used). And now i'm trying to set up all my hardware.
In Mac OS setting now i can choose only 1024x768, i want more:). Should i reinstall Mac OS (and choose option "ati drivers") or i can use this guide (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=37842&view=findpost&p=373877) right now? Or there is any other way?
thanks
krauli

Hi to all,
I've an old Asus A6va with this da*n Ati x700!
I've tried installing both linux and osx with no luck. Well, base OS works, but without hardware acceleration (so no compiz/ci/qe/ecc..). I have not yet tried Ovov trick because i wish to install Leopard.
I've got "KALYWAY_LEO_10.5.1intel_SSE2_SSE3", it finishes the regular installation, but after restart what i get is a simple white screen and a system auto-reset after about one minute...
I've tried most of the hints read on the leopard dedicated forum of this board, but nothing..
So I'm wondering if any of you have managed setting Leopard up'n'running on a notebook like mine or at least with this videocard, and if it's possible or i have to give up.
Thanks in advance wink.gif

Hi to everybody, anyone could say me how can i change my resolution??? 1024x768 to 1280x800
(i've kalyway 10.5.1 with ati X700 (dev5653))
With the previous procedure i can't see anything because i've black screen.
I think is a refresh problem.
I'm sorry for my english.

Its fixed smile.gif No more flickering with 1280x800 and x700 mobility 5653 smile.gif

The dot clock war really corrupted, so i'v had to find the right value hard coded the dot clock inside Callisto smile.gif
Few tests and i'll tell you what to do.

Update

HOWTO :

- get the file attached, and extract it
- use an hex editor to hard code your dot clock at offset 0x490e
- copy it in the callisto.kext/contents/macos directory; using callisto 006
- repair permissions
- cross your fingers

How to find your dot clock ?
Read on the sytem.log (/var/log/system.log) the callisto detection. For example :

localhost kernel[0]: Callisto: Found Monitor: LCD
llocalhost kernel[0]: Callisto: Default panel mode: 1280x800, dot clock: 68900
localhost kernel[0]: Callisto: Flat Panel values:
localhost kernel[0]: Xres: 1280, Yres: 800, isValid: 1, dotclock: 68900
localhost kernel[0]: HOver_plus: 21, HSync_width: 32, Hblank: 128
localhost kernel[0]: VOver_plus: 4, VSync_width: 4, Vblank: 16
localhost kernel[0]: HAct_high: 0, VAct_high: 0, interlaced: 0
localhost kernel[0]: pwr_delay: 15368, use_bios_dividers: 0
localhost kernel[0]: ref_div: 0, post_div: 0, fb_div: 0
localhost kernel[0]: Callisto: done with Mobility Radeon X700/FireGL V500SV

Well, using 68900 as dot clock, i've got flickering. Its like the LCD receives 60Hz and need 61Hz.
So i decreased the dot clock, i saw the screen better alignes at bottom... and tada, with 68900-280=68620; no more flickering !

68620 = 0x10C0C

so i put @490e of the binary file, 0C 0C 01 00 -> Everything is fixed smile.gif and for all resolutions smile.gif

Now i'll have to look through the forum how to fix QE/CI and how i can sleep the laptop smile.gif

Good luck

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! WITH YOUR HELP MY LIFE HAS GOT A NEW SIN ... now my asus a6va works perfectly under xxx osx86 10.4.11 ppf1 ... an i can start to play with this beautiful os ... greets smile.gif

Hey ho! Well right now i can use QE etc.. with a resolution of 1280x800x32 in tiger. But im having real trouble with the dot clock. I've seen that some users with 71000 (my case) can't freeze the flickers tongue.gif The best value i had with the Callisto fix by ofov was 70620. Can someone help me? I think im doing everything right.

Hi there, awesome finding ovof

Is it possible to use this trick with Kallyway 10.5.1 in the Asus A6Va with x700 (5653) ?
I managed to boot in 1280x800 with the flicker issue.

When i replace the Callisto (hex edited) file, it doesn't boot.

So, any luck for us Leopard guys?

Thanks in advance
mainsail
What about the ATI Radeon Mobility X700 XL (Hardware ID 0x564F)?
Any luck with Ovofs Method on this one? And what about 10.5.2?

Has anyone of you already a working X700 under 10.5.x?

Thanks in advance!
legocorp
I finally got it! HEHE! I'm using Leopard by iAtkos right with a 0x5653 ATI board and i figure out which is the dot clock for the Asus a6Va with 71000 -> 71500 (could it be easier?) Follow the tutorial in page 5 (made by geoRG77). but skip this:

1. Download Intel 10.4.5 Update
2. Download Pacifist demo (via google)
3. Extract all ATI*.kexts and OpenGL.framework from update using Pacifist.
4. Copy ATI*.kexts to /System/Library/Extensions
5. Delete /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework
6. Copy OpenGL.framework to /System/Library/Frameworks/

7. Install Koverg - Callisto - Framebuffer All-in-one
sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 #5652 is my device ID
sudo ./doe.sh cal6 0x0x0 1 1
8. Repair ATIRadeon9700.kext (because sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 add only 0x56 instead of 0x56521002) #5652 is my device ID
9. Download Callisto 006 fixed by OVOF and unpack it to your Desktop
9. Download Callisto 006 in attachment (Attention this is only for 71000 dot clock's)
10. sudo cp -R /Users/<YOUR NAME>/Desktop/Callisto /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto.kext/Contents/MacOS
10. Repair disk permissions with Disk Utility
11. Restart
12. Have fun! (personal quote wink.gif )

(to repair ATIRadeon9700.kext:

Open Terminal,

type: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeon9700.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOPCIMatch, there are serveral Dev-ids and if you applied thr Koverg - Callisto - Framebuffer Script correctly you should find 0x56 in the lines of Dev-ID's. Repair means to make that dev-id correct: for you this would be then: 0x56531002

Ctrl + O
Enter
Ctrl + X

Now the kext has been repaired. )

I have write 0x56531002 but i'm not sure to second part i only know 0x5653..1002 what is??

Ciao

Works perfectly !!!!!!! 1280X800, no flickering, QE & CI supported !! - Jas 10.4.8 - X700 Mobility 5653

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE !!!! biggrin.gif
Juampi
Is there a way to get this to work on 10.4.11 or 10.4.10 ??? Works great under 10.4.8 but QE and CI can't be enabled on 10.4.11....

THANKS
alabamas
Legocorp you are the man ,thank u

nbvcc
So, just to be sure...a summary for the compatibility of this patch...

Our 5653 stuff is supported completely under the jas 10.4.6 and 10.4.8.
But under 10.4.9 (Uphucks), 10.4.10 and 10.4.11, QE and CI can't be enabled.
For Leo people, they seem to have no QE with 10.5.x

Am i right?

PS: Thanks for the big work guys

Hello,

lietadielko and .dumbass any luck on changing the 71250 dot clock value?

I'm using 10.4.8 and cal6.. I get the QE-CI but not the 1280x800 without flickring...

Please post the right value solution if you have it.

It's best cal5 with 10.4.8?
It's good to use the ovof fixed file with no changes?

Thanking in advance

PEdro

UPDATE:

And for dotclocks of 71250 the winner is..................... 71510

0x11856

@490e replace for 56 18 01 00

One Year Later I finnaly can use MacOsX on my 1692wlmi laptop (ati x700 mobility radeon 64mb id5653)

Hi,

I followed these instructions:

QE/CI/Callisto fixed by OVOF howto for ATI Mobility Radeon x700 (Device ID 5652 or 5653) and Mac OS X 10.4.6 JaS

5. Delete /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework
6. Copy OpenGL.framework to /System/Library/Frameworks/
7. Install Koverg - Callisto - Framebuffer All-in-one
sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 #5652 is my device ID
sudo ./doe.sh cal6 0x0x0 1 1

8. Repair ATIRadeon9700.kext (because sudo ./builddoe.sh 56 52 add only 0x56 instead of 0x56521002) #5652 is my device ID

9. sudo cp -R /Users/<YOUR NAME>/Desktop/Callisto /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto.kext/Contents/MacOS
10. Repair disk permissions with Disk Utility

11. Restart

And upon restart I saw that I had full CI and QE and I had a full list of resolutions. But when I changed my resolution to my screen's native (1400x1050) I got a black screen, and from then on always get a black screen after rebooting. Is it possible to get it to run at the native res? My specs:
JaS 10.4.6
ASUS V6Va
Mobility x700
tried "Graphics Mode"="1400x1050x32@60" and it hangs.. I got the info dotclock=108000

Thanks
jonoko
